Excellent location but…basically “college dorm by IKEA”. The good: fabulous location located on ‘art ally’ at the steps of the Frontenac. Spacious and clean. Easy check-in (NOTE: key pad AT YOUR DOOR is black glass- you must tap glass once to see the lighted numbers then tap to enter. THE REST: this is a VERY basic accomodation. The furnishings are spartan and school room industrial to hold up well but completely lacking in personality and comfort for that matter. No artwork to speak of. There is a full kitchen with just enough basic supplies to get by with for a couple days. The mattresses are cheap and uncomfortable. There are no throws, blankets or extra anything should you need it. Your clothes closet consists of tubing hanging from the ceiling with scarce hangers. There is NO WHERE to put your belonging other than on the floor not even a luggage rack. Bedrooms have black out shades. The living room has thin sheers. Now let’s talk about the bathroom. It’s been updated along the way but the shower door just flops around (worthless). The shower system took us 20 mins to figure out. THE BOTTOM knob is temp and be patient as you figure out which way is hot cold…takes a while. The TOP knob controls rainhead vs tub. To turn on the handheld there is a HIDDEN KNOB at base of hose where it connects to wall. Only 1 tiny bottle of shampoo provided. No conditioner/coffee/coffee filters (and they don’t tell you what type of coffee maker note-!it’s a 5 cup drip with basket so you can prepare) no paper towels, no laundry soap. Yes, there is a w/d on site and NO PLUNGER which on this Occassion we desperately needed. The commode stopped up Sunday night. Trying to flush it filled to rim and 8 hours later still would not budge. First thing in the AM around 7AM I called and emailed but no one responded. I searched and found an emergency number but was told by the person who answered he’d try to get one there by check-out at 11. Are you kidding me?????? So we basically read between the lines to use the tub for a toilet. Using the toliet brush, a plastic bag boiling water and dish soap we finally manage to clear it on our own. Unacceptable! The 2 tv remotes came with no explanation so we entertained outselves for hours in the evening trying to figure the damn thing out. All in all, yes, we enjoyed ourselves and it worked fine for a quick girls getaway but there is no way I would bring my husband here or plan to stay for very long. It’s EXTREMELY BASIC and there is NO SERVICE whatsoever ever. Final note your luggage. There is nowhere to store your luggage before or after you arrive but we found a quirky little shop five walk minutes down the hill (next to Portofino restaurant) called the “Magazin” and they were willing to store our luggage (4pc) in the back room for $32. So bottom line while the location was PERFECT, forvthe money I’d stay in a full service hotel next time.
