I recently stayed at Oakwood Hotel Batam and had a mixed experience. The location is excellent, making it convenient to explore the area. The bed was comfortable, but the room itself was quite small, with an open closet arrangement that might not be to everyone’s liking.
Breakfast was a highlight—there was a good variety of options, and the quality was impressive. Another plus is that no deposit was required during check-in.
However, the air conditioning was a major downside. It was not cold enough, and even after requesting a technician (who took 30 minutes to arrive), the issue was not resolved. Our first night was uncomfortably warm, making it difficult to sleep. Thankfully, it rained on the second day, which helped cool down the room naturally.
I stayed in Room 803, which had convenient access to the pool and buffet breakfast. However, if you prefer a cold room and love using a duvet, I’d recommend avoiding this room.
Another unpleasant experience was during check-out—I noticed a foul smell, similar to a sump pit, near the elevator and on the first floor. It was quite off-putting as I was leaving the hotel.
Overall, Oakwood Hotel Batam has some great aspects, but the air conditioning issue and the unpleasant smell during check-out left a negative impression. If these issues are addressed, it could be a much better stay.

I like the hotel as it has direct access to grand batam mall. Staff are helpful and friendly. We managed to get free upgrade and early check in. Room is spacious and the bed is big and comfortable.

Location was opposite Grand Batam. Hotel is connected to the mall. Staff service was impeccable! Felt so well taken care of. Bed was soft and nice to sleep in. Water pressure in the bathroom was amazing, didn't feel like leaving. Love that they are environmentally friendly without providing plastic bottles in the room.

Very pleased to have found a nice hotel in the Penuin area, and smack next to the Grand Batam Mall as well.
Check in was very quick and fast, and we were in the rooms within 5-7 minutes of checking in. We got a twin room with south facing windows which was nicely equipped with international plugs and well thought out room lighting modes on the control panel. Airconditioning was good and toilet ventilation was also pretty decent.
I used the gym which was nicely equipped for weight training as well as some cardio machines, and the pool was pretty nice.
Beds were comfortable and I had a great sleep.
Some areas for improvement in the housekeeping area:
1. There were oil stains on the room windows that was not cleaned for the duration of our stay (likely from previous guest pressing his/her face against the window)
2. The tissue box on the bathroom counter needs a re-think, as there's a hole on the bottom, the tissues get soaked when water splashes out of the sink onto the counter
3. Water pressure for the sink needs to be adjusted, it's too strong and splashes all over to the unsuspecting user
4. Shower pressure was good but the shower head was split open (did not affect the functionality)
All in all, very nice and I would stay here again and would recommend it to my friends as it's probably the nicest hotel in the area currently.

Went batam for 1 night stay with a friend and first time staying oatwood since quite new in trip.com. I have booked a room near the lift but given a corner room. The hotel is fully booked so I don't have a chance to change the room for me. Hotel sent me a slice of cake for apologies that they can't meet my request. The services provided in the hotel are awesome, and i love their breakfast. I will book again when I go batam again.

Service and hospitality was really great! Greeted and welcome my family upon arriving. They offered to carry our luggages from the car's bonnet and offered us drinks while waiting for check-in.
Check-in took us around 10mins. The receptionist informed us about the hotel and room, and answered all of our questions. She also recommend to book a massage from the hotel to get 20% off the price since my mother wants to get a massage.
My family booked the 2 bedroom premium suite. The room was very spacious and very clean. What i really love about the room was the charging port. They included type-c and usb!
Swimming pool was spacious but we didn't bring any swimsuit to change 🥲. My brother went to the gym. The space was small and limited.
Everything was great but the only downside was the breakfast. It doesn't really have a variety of choices. The service was slow. We had to wait 20mins for them to refill the hashbrowns and the chickens. Some tasted really nice but others were so-so. The plates wasn't cleared until we left. I feel like it's not worth my money to spend on breakfast here.
Overall, it was a great stay. Really recommend to stay here as it's really convenient. I would stay here again, but not with the breakfast.

The service was excellent, and the staff was very attentive. The location is incredibly convenient, with the spa and grand mall right next door. It’s also within walking distance of many great restaurants, making it an ideal place to stay.

Booked a 2 nights stay (Executive Room, Twin beds) at Oakwood Hotel in late Dec 24. New hotel hence rooms are very clean. We were assigned a room on L6 and found they just have 10 rooms on the floor. Carpets very fresh looking. Rooms are available all way to L22. Restaurant serving breakfast and dinner is at L8. Breakfast spread is good, quite a lot of variety. This (L8) is the same level for swimming pool as well. Nice sunset views from the pool! No jacuzzi at the pool however. Staff are friendly and provide timely assistance. Hotel has tie-up with next door AESPA for 20% disc for guests. But need to book the massage via Hotel reception. Hotel is connected to next door Grand Batam Mall via L5 (the connection link to the Mall carpark, which leads to L3 of the mall, but don’t know why we can’t tap card to return to Hotel using same way back, maybe card wasn’t programmed correctly). There is supposedly another lift at L8 next to restaurant to also lead guests to some floors of the Mall, but we didn’t get to try that as the lift was having some maintenance at that time). In general, we liked the Hotel for the clean rooms, comfortable beds and proximity to the Mall. It takes about 15min drive from Batam Centre Ferry Terminal to Hotel.

2 to 3 hours after the official check in time, our two bedroom apartment was still not ready. Thankfully the batam grand mall was just opposite. It is very very convenient and allowed us to keep going back to the hotel to check if our apartment was ready. We spent the entire afternoon at the mall and finally managed to check in! The living and dining area was huge, and so were the bedrooms and balcony! It was clean and comfortable. Brought the children for a swim and the provide beach towels! The swimming pool has a very nice view and we could see the beautiful sunset! If we were to return to Batam, I would want to stay here again!
