wir waren gespannt wie das Hotel nach dem Umbau sein wird und waren begeistert. Es ist alles super schön geworden, modern, mit viel Geschmack eingerichtet. Wir hatten Halbpension gebucht und waren begeistert: das Diner war perfekt zubereitet (man konnte unter mehreren Vor-Hauptspeisen und Desserts wählen) von einem freundlichen zuvorkommenden Service aufgetragen. Auch das Frühstücksbuffet war vom Feinsten und auch hier der Service perfekt.

The hotel is run by a delightful young couple who are gradually improving and expanding the hotel. The rooms are simple yet elegant. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food is to die for. How this hotel restaurant does not have Michelin star(s) is a mystery. I would rate the food as among the best we have experienced. It is adventurous, inventive, colourful and of course delicious. It will be a regular on our travels through France.

Brilliant hotel and restaurant. Stayed as a family of 3, bringing bikes and keeping in the on site secure store. Brilliant local gravel routes. Both on-site restaurants are truly excellent.

We stayed for only one night here, purely as we were travelling to SW France and needed a stop over en route. The accommodation looks and feels brand new. The bedroom is beautifully decorated and the bathroom has a large walk in shower. There is tea and coffee making facilities available in addition to a large bottle of water. Every member of staff went out of their way to make us feel special during our short stay. In addition to this, the gastronomic restaurant provides exceptional quality food in a beautiful restaurant.It was without doubt one of our best meals we have ever had in France. Although we opted for the 4 course menu we were treated to many other ‘tasters’ before and after our main meal, all of which were just stunning not only in flavour but also in presentation. We couldn’t fault our stay at all and hope that we can find a reason to return here in the very near future, albeit for slightly longer than one night next time!

4.5 stars to be accurate! I have already reviewed both the Bistro and the Restaurant Gourmand. We stayed in a downstairs room with a terrace in the modern part of the hotel. I was a bit apprehensive as usually stayed in one of the older room but it was excellent. Very comfortable bed, nice terrace (shame about the weather), powerful shower and excellent wifi. Breakfast was good and pricing on par with similar places in the region. Good toileteries too and towels replaced when needed. Liked the soft-close wardrobe doors. A lot of thought has been put into this place. My main criticism is that there is no bar area for guests to relax. If going to the Bistro there is a small corner area with a big table where we were directed to sit to have our drink. We shared this with a lady who was very nice and had a good conversation but a more comfortable and relaxed sitting area would be better. The other tables were set up for the evening service.. Had the weather been better we could have sat outside on our terrace! Overall thought a very good stay - we were there for 3 days.

We booked a room for one night on our way to La Rochelle. We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food at the bistro was great. The breakfast was well worth the price. Would definitely stay again.

About 7 years ago, I had stayed at the Auberge on my trip to the Loire. It was a quaint hotel run by a couple, Mr and Mrs Rialland. It was such a lovely place. I remember eating nightly on the exquisite cuisine by Mr Rialland, knowing this was on par with the finest dining in Paris. Now I returned with my parents and the hotel has been modernized and enlarged. The food is still amazing in the fine dining restaurant and now they added a great bistro as well. To me, this is the best place to stay while exploring the Loire. I'm sure, I will return in the future. the daily fresh macarons in your room entice me to come back sooner.

We have enjoyed on many occasions spending the last night of our holiday at the Auberge de la Caillere. Before the renovations, it was an outstanding restaurant with accommodation that was more on the basic side, but very clean and comfortable. The renovations which have taken 15 months have changed this completely. The 'new hotel' is really beautiful, in terms of rooms that are now very modernised with excellent A/C (which is always important for us when we visit France in June/July). A new bar/bistro area is a great addition where you can get drinks and snacks throughout the day. The restaurant is as outstanding as ever, - it has to have a Michelin star soon. The best bit about this place is the wonderful couple who run it. Such professionalism and dedication to their business will surely see it be the tremendous success it deserves to be.
