My wife and I operate a small coach tour company, and have done so for the last 28 years. We offer residents of Sydney, the Central Coast, the Southern Highlands, Canberra and Queanbeyan, the opportunity to travel on a variety of tours, ranging from four days to ten days in length, to different areas in Eastern Australia. Last week, a group of our passengers from these areas travelled on a seven-day tour to Victoria. During the tour, our passengers stayed for four nights at the Novotel Melbourne Preston. We certainly have no complaints or regrets about using this Hotel for our group’s stay! When I first contacted the Hotel in September 2023, about the possibility of using it for my tour group’s accommodation for this tour, my enquiry was treated with genuine enthusiasm. I was put through to the Sales Manager, Ms Michele Kerrigan. Michele was amazing to deal with. After a steady stream of telephone conversations and emails during the next few days, the accommodation was booked, and the menus for all the dinners during this stay were locked in. At some hotels we’ve used over the years, this process can take weeks, and it can be quite a frustrating experience. At this Hotel, it was the exact opposite. So, a huge ‘thank you’ to Michele, for making this all so easy for us as tour organisers! After all the arrangements we finalised, and the booking was locked in, Michele passed on our booking to the Sales Coordinator, Annalise Dimase. Once again, Annalise was an absolute delight to work with! Between the finalisation of the booking, and the date of the group’s arrival, we spoke many, many times on the phone, and exchanged many, many emails. In all my dealings with Annalise, she was professional, personable, helpful, patient, and attentive. On a few occasions, when Annalise was unavailable, I was transferred to Nada, another member of the Sales Team. Again, Nada was wonderful to work with. When our tour group arrived at the hotel, Michele, Nada, and Annalise were all there to greet the passengers. They were very impressed by the warm and friendly welcome offered to them by this team! Once inside the Hotel, this level of service was experienced in all sections. The reception staff, the housekeeping staff, the restaurant staff, the chef and kitchen staff were all friendly, welcoming, obliging, and helpful. We would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to any tour groups requiring accommodation in Melbourne. Judging by our experience, it would be difficult to surpass the level of attentiveness and friendliness offered by the management team and staff, the quality of service, the degree of comfort, and the attention to detail our group received during their stay. I had an amazing experience staying at the Mercure Doncaster! Firstly, the room was beautiful, clean, and fit for my short-stay business purposes. What I was most impressed by however was the customer service! My colleague and I needed to find a last minute venue for a business meeting with international clients, and the staff at Mercure very kindly accommodated us with one of their available meeting rooms free of charge. The room was spacious, well-organised, modern and the technology was extremely easy to use! The staff support and amenities allowed for a seamless experience which we were very grateful for. A special thank you to Isabella, the Reception Manager who saved the day (even offering to extend my checkout time to suit the time of our meeting).

We recently spent 2 nights here & booked via booking.com. The hotel stands out like a gold shimmery beacon in a flat landscape but there is no signage to indicate how to access the place. It’s mainly occupied by residents so isn’t like a conventional hotel - this isn’t obvious at booking. There is no contact number so after doing laps of the block I ran out to the front door to see a mobile number for the manager on duty. He opened the underground car park door & we parked. Then checked in where he told us that there was no parking associated with our booking. He ended up finding a spot 20 minutes later. The room was nice. New, clean & had everything you need. The indoor pool needs to be prebooked which wasn’t told to us and the reception hours were different to what the print out of information they gave us at check in. The area has plenty of Asian cuisine options and little else. Finding a coffee or a cafe for breakfast on the Saturday morning was impossible - there’s just nothing open (except maccas). Overall everything was just too difficult & not smooth. Last thing you want after traveling for 12 hours.

I have stayed in the US with 'The Standard'. New York City and Downtown LA. I learned about the Hollywood one when an Architecture student. I was a bit let down when i stayed there. Both the staff and decor. Yet loved the other two. I'd already found a US chain I really like. Dependable, beautiful design, comfy beds. So I was very pleased to see a Standardx on my way to see some music the week before. I had to go back to the same venue and one other on the northside the next week. The price was very reasonable. The staff were great. Its just such a great area with great food and music and the perfect treat night for a local or a traveller.

The staff were not following COVID protocols. None wore masks. Day manager actually spoke to us with mask on chin and AROUND the safety barrier. One pen used for everything by everyone. Night manager & staff as well as other guests were all maskless. We were not asked to show proof of our vaccination status. Inspired ZERO confidence that they were actually sanitising anything. My partner also felt unsafe as there were a lot of people loitering around the building. The room was clean and tidy. Located excellently for the event we were attending. Hot water worked, loved the choice of flooring. That was all. The room offered only one single bar of soap. No shower gel, shampoo or any extra toiletries as is expected from even the most basic accomodation you can stay in anywhere else. I have stayed in youth hostels in the outback and even they offered more than a tiny bar of soap. There was no indications of any extra services offered or being available. There were no extra pillows or blankets available in the room. One very flat pillow per person and a thin doona only. The pillows were so low that I could not sleep on it and when I asked for another pillow from the night manager I was met with rudeness. He finally gave me an old, dirty pillow with no pillow case (see photos). When I asked for a pillow case he acted like I was being ridiculous. We slept badly as the bed was very hard. Actually went home and slept as we were so tired from the uncomfortable bed. Upon checkout we got stuck in the lift as the door to the G floor would not open. We finally called for help using the phone but even though the front desk manager answered and said he would be with us immediately he was not. We finally left by going back to our floor and using the fire escape to exit via the basement parking. He then told us he couldn’t hear what we were saying on the phone so basically ignored us, and then gave some rubbish excuse about the one elevator being an old one that was not for guests. Basically if we had not exited the way we did we would have been stuck in the elevator for hours being ignored. There was no signage indicating anywhere that one of the two lifts was not for guests, and if the lift was not for guests you would think it would be clearly marked so.

Nice location. Easy access to any attractions in town. All within walking distance. Friendly staffs and good environment. Second time staying here after 2019. Still as good as before. Recommended if your are on a budget trip. Worth the price.

Insgesamt gut, die letzte Nacht habe ich die Stromversorgung des Zimmers abgeschoben und die Rezeption hat das Zimmer vorübergehend angepasst. Die Lage ist in der Nähe der Melbourne University, sehr nahe, die Nähe ist die Universitätsmedizin, wird gebaut, aber die Nacht ist sehr ruhig. Der Park unten ist sehr groß und großartig. Melbourne ist noch etwas kalt in der Nacht, und der Winterurlaub muss mit langen Armen und langen Schleifen kommen.

Es liegt im Stadtzentrum. Wenn Sie zum ersten Mal einchecken, gibt es auf der linken Seite viele Einkaufszentren zum Essen und Einkaufen, auf der rechten Seite jedoch relativ wenige. Wenn Sie alleine sind, nehmen Sie den Skybus-Doppeldeckerbus für 22 australische Dollar in die Innenstadt, kaufen Sie ihn am Bahnhof mit Ihrer Kreditkarte und er fährt ohne Zwischenstopp direkt in die Innenstadt. Steigen Sie aus und nehmen Sie die Straßenbahn vom Bahnsteig direkt gegenüber der Straße für zwei Haltestellen, drehen Sie dann an der Kreuzung um und steigen Sie auf der anderen Straße in die Straßenbahn um, nehmen Sie die Straßenbahn für eine Haltestelle, steigen Sie bei Baidu Map Navigation aus und gehen Sie ein kleines Stück . Achten Sie in Australien darauf, auf der linken Seite zu fahren, und fahren Sie nicht auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite. Die Straßenbahnen sind in dieser Gegend kostenlos, Sie können also einsteigen, solange sie an diesem Bahnsteig halten. Straßenbahnfreie Flächenkarte hellblauer rechteckiger Bereich. Die Rückfahrt zum Flughafen auf dem gleichen Weg kostet mehr als 23 australische Dollar. Dies ist die schnellste und wirtschaftlichste Variante. Wenn Sie damit vertraut sind, können Sie Ihr Ziel in 40 Minuten erreichen. Ein Taxi zum Hotel kostet mehr als 70 australische Dollar, und ein Uber kostet fast 50 australische Dollar mehr. Da in der Nähe seit gestern Straßenbauarbeiten stattfinden, müssen wir einen Umweg in Kauf nehmen, um in das Geschäftsviertel zu gelangen. Obwohl das Zimmer etwas klein ist, ist es nicht mit den aktuellen inländischen Zimmern zu vergleichen. Ich weiß nicht, ob es modernisiert wurde.

Das Vic Hotel liegt im CBD und ist nur wenige Gehminuten von der City Circle Tram entfernt, einem kostenlosen öffentlichen Nahverkehrssystem in Melbourne, mit dem Sie viele Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt erreichen können. Das Hotel ist außerdem nur 3 Gehminuten vom Regent Theatre, Chinatown und den Einkaufsvierteln entfernt. Ich kann es jedem wärmstens empfehlen, der zum ersten Mal nach Melbourne kommt, egal ob Alleinreisender oder Familien …

This is a really good quality hotel in a nice part of Melbourne. We are Accor Plus members but this night was booked using Emirates points. Accor still gave us a a top floor room with a stunning view and the usual free drink vouchers, which I didn't expect since I didn't book with them. The room was clean with the aforementioned good view and had every thing you need for a short stay. Improvements would be a coffee machine instead of simply a kettle, and a better Chromecast as the one we had just wouldn't work. These are minor issues though. Lifts were very slow, as only one seemed to be operating. Breakfast was efficient and tasty, although the included coffee could be improved and the extra charge coffee was too cold to be enjoyable. All in all an excellent hotel to stay at if you need to stay in the South Wharf end of Melbourne, and we will certainly stay again.
