*clears throat* I think that there is not much of a stand out difference between the art hotel and a hotel that I paid N50,000 per night. When the hotel was launched and with how it was branded, it is really not giving 5 star or luxury. I quite let down. I mean, it is pretty and but the attention to detail that I expected was not present. The Gallery - Damn. This was the biggest let down. There is need for a curator to properly select and maintain the gallery. I was excited to see the art collection of the hotel but it was mostly traditional paintings and some photos. Nothing stands out. In the gallery, the works were stacked on each other as if no one ever goes there. The brand of the hotel is to be THE ART HOTEL but it does not exude an understanding or celebration of Nigerian art. The pool - it felt like they really needed a pool and proceeded to add one. I am 5ft 8 and to feel comfortable in the pool, I had to be on my knees. It was like going to the kiddie pool. The quality of the pool construction was poor. It looked unfinished and the lines were not straight. Plus, the farther end of the pool is not clean. :( The elevator - God! This thing takes like 500 years to come to your floor. That you rather use the stairs and upon using the stairs, the shabbiness of the hotel construction is in full view. Incomplete, poorly done patchwork. The security and the receptionist - Bless their soul. They were doing the best they could but they did not exude anything luxury. In their training and their service provision. The interior of the hotel at a broad glance looks beautiful but upon closer inspection, you notice the lack of attention to detail that makes it a luxury hotel and worth the amount paid. You need to see how this hotel was marketed and branded. Plus, the cost of the rooms. They don't even come with complimentary breakfast. Good things - the bed was soft and comfy. It works as a hotel should. It functions and the staff are quite polite. They care about being better and offering good service. They are quite helpful. Truly. The staff made the space cool for me. The management needs to review the hotel branding and services cause if you are going to tell me that this a “BIG” hotel, omo, give big energy. Like actually understand what that means and match your facility with the brand. Swear, you can get the same experience at a 50/70 per night hotel.
