Latitude 0 Degrees

Despite having traveled to Uganda several times previously, I have only now discovered — perched atop one of Kampala’s emerald hills — the hidden gem of Latitude Zero Degrees Kampala. And I am so very pleased that I did!! The Latitude’s decor is visually resplendent with tastefully coordinated colors and a masterful blend of artwork and furnishings that represent a confluence of both African and Arabic influences. From the moment you walk into the main reception, the staff is warm, welcoming and exceptionally gracious, in such a way that can only be found in Uganda. Restaurant staff is equally gracious with several standout hosts being Ivan Kizza, Nasser, Robert, Steven Hillary, Robina, Marriet, and Joseph (of the Upside) among many others. For relaxation, I had a wonderful scrub, massage, and facial from the most kind Amanda. I reserved a two room suite and so enjoyed my time at Latitude that I extended my stay. I am a rather seasoned traveler who has been to many top notch hotels across several continents and when it comes to hospitality, decor, and true beauty of surroundings, there are few hotels on par with Latitude Zero Degrees Kampala. I look forward to my return.

Avoid this hotel. Had a terrible stay from 26/12/24 to 09/01/25 with multiple room moves due to shower issues, no compensation offered, and poor service on New Year's Eve. They also have restrictive rules on outside food and inconsistencies in their policies.

IF YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU, DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE. SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. I CHECKED IN ON 26TH/12/24 - 09/01/24, AND I MUST SAY I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN—THAT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I DID NOT WANT TO STAY HERE INITIALLY, BUT I WAS PERSUADED BY OTHERS DUE TO THE GOOD EXPERIENCE WE HAD TWO YEARS AGO. I AM WRITING IN CAPS BECAUSE I AM ANNOYED BY THE TREATMENT WE RECEIVED. BTW WE BROUGHT ABOUT 11 PPL TO STAY HERE FROM THE LAST EXPERIENCE. 1 - THE ROOM WE WERE GIVEN HAD A NON-FUNCTIONING SHOWER—YOU EITHER GOT HOT OR COLD WATER, AND THE SHOWER PRESSURE WAS SHMABLES SO WE HAD TO BE MOVED. MY SISTER'S ROOM ALSO HAD A SHOWER THAT WAS ON AND OFF, PREVENTING THEM FROM SHOWERING SOME DAYS UNTIL IT WAS FIXED. THEY WERE MOVED HOWEVER THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN THEY WANTED TO MOVE THEM AGAIN. IMAGINE HAVING TO MOVE TWO/THREE TIMES FOR ACCOMODATION YOU PAID FOR. THEY REQUESTED COMPENSATION FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE AND WERE OFFERED ANOTHER ROOM MOVE, BUT NO COMPENSATION WAS PROVIDED. CONSIDERING THE AMOUNT WE PAID, SOME FORM OF COMPENSATION SHOULD HAVE BEEN OFFERED. 2 - ON NEW YEAR'S EVE, WE BOOKED A TABLE FOR ABOUT 15 PEOPLE. THEY SEATED US INDOORS WHERE WE COULDN'T SEE THE ENTERTAINMENT, DESPITE PAYING APPROXIMATELY £62 EACH. WE COMPLAINED, AND AN EMPLOYEE NAMED GREG ENQUIRED ABOUT OUR ORIGIN, WHICH IS IRRELEVANT SINCE WE PAID THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE. I AM NOT PAYING TO BE RACIALLY ABUSED IN MY OWN COUNTRY. ADDITIONALLY, THEY ADVERTISED A 10% DISCOUNT FOR TABLES OF 10 OR MORE PEOPLE. HOWEVER, WHEN WE REQUESTED THE DISCOUNT AFTER PAYING, THEY INFORMED US THAT IT HAD TO BE CHARGED TO A SINGLE CARD. THIS CONDITION WAS NOT MENTIONED ANYWHERE IN THE ADVERTISEMENT, OR WE WOULD HAVE PAID WITH ONE CARD. 3 - THEY HAVE IMPLEMENTED A RULE THAT NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR WATER CAN BE BROUGHT IN, WHICH I COULD UNDERSTAND TO AN EXTENT. HOWEVER, THEY ALSO PROHIBIT YOU FROM BRINGING IN FOOD THAT YOU PLAN TO TAKE BACK HOME. THERE HAVE BEEN INSTANCES WHEN WE BROUGHT IN FOOD BEFORE. WHY WOULD YOU STAY AT A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN'T HAVE THE FREEDOM TO BRING IN WHAT YOU WANT? I PAID FOR A HOTEL ROOM; I SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO AS I PLEASE. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TREATMENT ELSEWHERE. I STAYED IN THE PRESIDENTIAL SUITE IN MESTIL AND WE DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. THE FINAL STRAW WAS WHEN I TRIED TO BRING IN KABALAGALA TO TAKE HOME, AND THEY REFUSED ENTRY UNDER THE SAME RULES, YET I SAW IN THE LIBRARY A SHISHA BONG, WHICH IS NOT ON THE MENU. I WAS TOLD BY SOME STAFF MEMBERS THAT IT DEPENDS ON WHO YOU ARE. SO, WHY WOULD I STAY HERE? I HAVE ATTACHED A PHOTO OF THE SHISHA IN THE LIBRARY. THEY MENTIONED THAT VAPING AND SMOKING ARE ALLOWED, BUT HOW DID THE SHISHA BONG GET HERE IF IT'S NOT ON THE MENU? ALSO, WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING IN PACKAGED COFFEE, BUT SHISHA CAN COME IN. I DON'T USUALLY COMPLAIN, BUT I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO CHOOSE ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY. THIS HOTEL IS ADVERTISED AS FAMILY-FRIENDLY, YET HOW CAN THAT BE THE CASE WHEN A CHILD COULD EASILY FIND

The nature of the hotel is unlike most,it’s full of African art from all over the continent tastefully laid out. I arrived past midnight and was met by smiling faces that prioritised my need for rest and made sure the check in was swift. The room was beautiful and very comfortable,sleep quality was great and the showers excellent! The food was great from both restaurants,loved the roof top restaurant in the evening with the view overlooking the city and lake in the distance. The idea of using glass for water bottles shows care for the environment and step in the right direction. The spa was a sight for sore eyes and a delight for tired muscles. The staff were prompt and happy to be of service at every turn. I enjoyed having the beautiful layout mix with the business needs making it feel like a mini holiday. I will be sure to return. I had the worst Christmas experience at Latitude yesterday. Called in November 2024 to secure a booking for my children and two other families. On 2nd December,I started texting on their booking line with the person I had spoken to when I first called.Spoke to two ladies during the entire time and before the Christmas brunch, to make sure I had got the terms and conditions right.None mentioned that we had to secure our booking with a payment.Being Ugandan and not wanting surprises,I went ahead and asked for payment details and made part payment to secure our booking. Then I was comfortable that I had demonstrated our commitment, and that we would be assured of a table come Christmas day. I asked what time lunch would be served and was told between midday Ugandan time and 5.00pm,lunch would be served with all soft drinks on the house save alcoholic beverages. Two days before Christmas,I got in touch to make sure we were set to have a hearty meal on Christmas day.I was told our booking was secure and adjustments made were noted. So we arrive on Christmas day and the following happened. 1. From the main gate into the facility we knew they were expecting us because they had a guest list that included our family name. Fast forward to the reception,we are ushered in and told to follow a lady who hands us over to another in the serving area.She confirms that we had a reservation and asks us to wait in the sitting area while she finds our table. She returns and asks us to follow her to a table by the poolside, because that's where we asked to sit as we made our booking. While all other tables were decorated our table wasn,t and we have fewer seats than the number of guests we mentioned would join us.Unfortunately the lady that led us to the table walked away before we could sit or ask any questions,claiming to be busy. We sat and wondered what next as every waiter or waitress we asked for help just listened to us and walked away,promising to return but none did.Then I knew something was wrong. I start worrying about the guests joining us because booking Christmas lunch at latitude was my idea. We got up to serve but the warmers at the station were almost empty.I asked one of the waitresses and she said they would be refilled but that didn't happen.At that point am worried about my children because they are hungry and I ask if they can have some fries and meat from the roast station.We got some baskets of fries but we're told the roast wasn't meant to be served at the time. I sat at the table and watched my kids eat plain fries with no ketchup or meat and new I was scammed. As for the drinks,while we were told soft drinks were on the house at booking,the kids managed to get small glasses of passion Fruit juice after I complained to the person I booked with.Then we learnt that we had to pay for the sodas after being told that sodas would be provided on the agreed bill.I asked for sodas anyway because at that point my heart was sinking.Our

We had an excellent experience at Latitude 0 Degrees during our 2-days meetings. The staff were professional, attentive, and ensured everything ran smoothly. The meeting facilities were well-equipped and comfortable, and the catering was top-notch, keeping us refreshed throughout our stay there. We truly appreciated the seamless organization and warm hospitality. Highly recommended for business meetings.
