Old Windmill Studios

The place looks more than 2 * hotel,has a lovely swimming pool and garden at the back with a charming small chapel.The room was spacious with a big balcony.The localization is very convinient for walking trips to all famous and beautiful beaches around Faliraki.The only problem is a noise from the road.

A nice little place to stay, the owners a very nice couple this was our first time at this location and we enjoyed our stay at this location. The lady who owns the premises is an excellent cook the meals were fantastic. A very good choice of wines and beers.

The family who manage this establishment seriously need to take their business seriously and show better customer services for the guests. Do they not realise as guests we work hard all year to go on holiday and pay thousands? The rooms are very basic and the pool area was a nightmare with the traffic on the highway. We found a hair in our food so this was not good hygiene. We noticed " Irene " wears the same clothes every day for long hours also making food in these. This is not hygienic.Speaking with bars in Faliraki they said the Windmill was very bad and they were not wrong. It is about time the husband learned some basic manners and English. A very unhappy man. If you see this on Jet2 I would look elsewhere as you will be disappointed. Jet2 should he ashamed at selling this holiday so expensive. Next year we will stay in Ixia never again the Windmill.

The owners of this hotel are the most unhappy and miserable people you will meet. Met at reception with a sour face and no smile. The hotel is just outside of the centre and this is just like the Bates motel with mums house just next too it - many of the people we met could not believe we were staying here. Farr too much noise, menu too expensive and pool area filthy with umbrellas too stiff.

Me and my partner stayed at Old Windmill Studios early September and on a whole found it very disappointing. On arrival, we found the staff very unwelcoming, no attempt at conversation and just a very abrupt “passports” and “money”. This did not improve throughout our stay and we found them very rude and it even deterred us from wanting to stay at the restaurant/bar for food and drinks as we felt uncomfortable even being around them. For Air conditioning we had to pay extra (€10 per day) and it was absolutely essential as the rooms are so hot you would not be able to go without it. The first day it worked fine, but after that we didn’t find that it adequately cooled our room and we were still very hot even with the air con on. The electric key is attached to the door key and you can’t leave it (or any other electric such as phone chargers and fridge) on when you go out meaning the room was always very hot on our return and we found it hard to ever get it down to a comfortable temperature. The room we had was a good size, plenty of space and a large balcony with table and chairs. Had a 2 ring cooker, fridge (although as stated before this turns off when you are not in the room) kettle, 3 or 4 plug sockets, small wardrobe for hanging clothes, dressing table and a table with 2 chairs. We booked a room with a double bed to share but this was actually 2 small single beds pushed together with an uncomfortable gap in between so don’t expect to actually get a double bed. We did however get a bonus 3rd single bed :) I personally found the beds quite hard and uncomfortable, however my partner was indifferent so I guess this comes down to a matter of personal preference. The shower was absolutely awful. The shower curtain sticks to you because the shower is so small and the room completely floods every time you use it because the shower curtain doesn’t fit the tray and it was just badly designed. The actual shower itself had very low pressure which made it hard to even wash my hair properly. The bathroom had no ventilation to let out steam/moisture/heat. It was very badly lit with one tiny dim light above the bathroom mirror (no ceiling light). Cleaner came to clean our room every 2 days, we only needed it once but she did a good job supplied fresh towels etc. The pool area was nice, fairly large pool with separate kids pool, plenty of sun beds free to use, we never struggled to get a spot on the sun beds at any time of day. It was kept clean and had music playing and was open from 8am-8pm. They allowed us to leave our bags in the reception area on the day of our check out, however they are not in a separate room and are easily accessible to the public so you do so at your own risk. The location was great! About 5/10 minutes walk to the nearest supermarket/bakery/bar and 15 minute walk into Faliraki town/beach. Bus stops very close by going in both directions to Rhodes/Lindos. This is a vibe hotel so why are children allowed here. We came expecting no children yet the little boy in the bar at breakfast and in the pool ( end of August ) was very annoying with his noise and splashing. The food was basic and nothing to give a Michelin star for. And as for the road we'll this was too much.Next year we will spend double and stay luxury as this was the pits. This is more of a youth hostel than studios .

This was our 5th year of staying at The Old Windmill, and this should tell you everything! I have been a friend of Rhodes for 22 years and would tell anyone who is looking to stay in Faliraki to please book the Windmill. The family who manage the Windmill are absolutely lovely people who work very hard during the season and will do everything to make sure you have a wonderful stay. The rooms are spacious and fantastic for couples and families. The pool area is bigger than some higher star hotels with lots of room. The bar and food areas are exceptional and traditional Greek . Menu prices are much lower than those in the centre - this is proper home cooked food . Please make sure you take a look at the church on the grounds and take in the relaxing olive groves - this is my place where I can sit and just think about everything. Faliraki centre is only 10 minutes walk away with bus stops outside the apartments for Rhodes Town and Lindos. Thank you for your support , love and hospitality. Yamas.

Fantastic stay at old windmill rooms cleaned every 2 days with fresh bedding lovely food at very good prices very chilled pool area with towels provided. 15 minute strolll into town with bars and shops on the way. Lovely family that run the show. would definitely return.

Some comments on our recent stay. Arrival - I was somewhat disappointed with the 'welcome' we received, as in my opinion, it lacked the friendliness I would associate with greeting guests to your holiday establishment as there was no smiling or chatting and any communication was rather abrupt. I was, however, asked if I needed help up stairs with my suitcase which I gladly accepted and this was a nice gesture. Location - Unfortunately the accommodation is situated on an extremely busy 4 lane road which is relentless with traffic all day and night and there is no getting away from the noise as it is constant. This made it impossible to relax and to sit out on the balcony and at times disturbed our sleep when there were some extremely loud motorbikes and lorries going past. Also, we found the 25ish minutes walk to the beach a killer in 90 degree heat and it isn't the nicest of walks with half of it being along the aforementioned busy road. Accommodation - This was basic. The air conditioning wasn't adequate for the area it was cooling (my husband is a refrigeration/air conditioning engineer so knows about these things) Even on it's coolest setting and left on all night we still struggled and found it warm when trying to sleep. The small wooden beds creaked very loudly when moving around in them and the mattresses were also quite thin and not comfortable. The bathroom had no external window or extractor fan which created an extremely hot and steamy room each time the shower was used so we had to let it clear/cool down between taking turns to shower. The shower cubicle itself was awful as it was extremely small and it was impossible to prevent water going everywhere because the curtain was inadequate. After each shower the bathroom floor resembled a swimming pool! Food - On the whole we found the food to be great with a good selection of dishes on the menu. I also enjoyed the cocktails! Overall, you get what you pay for. Would I stay there again? Unfortunately not due to some of the comments noted above.
