Prospect Hill Inn & Restaurant

My husband and I stayed in the Groom's Quarters Cottage for the Mother's Day Weekend Getaway. It was lovely and memorable in so many ways. The owners, Jim and T, couldn't be more welcoming or genuine. We felt pampered and cared for the minute we checked in. The grounds are gorgeous, the historical background is obvious and well-preserved, the food is fabulous, and the location is prime with natural beauty and a sense of wonder. We will go back for sure and we wish the new owners great success. They are charming and naturals when it comes to hosting guests. Looking forward to our next visit!

Wonderful place to stay. Owners wonderful. Have great suggestions on where to visit in the area. Be prepared for two large well behaved dogs. Breakfasts definitely on high carb side, but very tasty. Grounds are beautiful. Lots of birds. Great location.

Great inn and lovely innkeepers, who provided sanctuary for me and 2 dogs over July 4. Great trails and fields, yummy breakfast, charming and comfortable in Sancho Pansy cabin. Great base for exploring wineries (some allow dogs) and regional history.

The owners could not be more helpful and kind. The rooms were very comfortable city s fabulous bed to f sleep on all in in a garden setting. Love the views snd bountiful amount of wildlife around. Woke up and slept to the birds all around us. We shall return

This is our happiest place when we need to relax. The property is beautiful Doc and Paula are the best. Scrumptious breakfast served to your room. We always select a cottage but we tried a room in the main house this time .It was lovely and charming. And thank you you Doc for helping me with a father's day gift . Awesome place and awesome Innkeepers. This is a definite keeper!!!!

Two years ago we planned to come, but COVID threw a spanner in the works. Now we could finally come over and it was worth waiting for. Prospect Hill is a very beautiful plantation whose first buildings were built around 1732. Quite a bit of history is known, which gives it extra charm. The plantation / main house and all other buildings are on a spacious 40 acre and everything is accessible to guests, so you can enjoy a nice walk but also enjoy the spacious view from one of the many places where you can sit and relax, be it in the garden, on the veranda or at your cottage. We stayed in the carriage house. That is a beautiful cottage. It consists of a very spacious room with large bed, sofa, table and chairs, etc. In addition, a small room with sofa, refrigerator, coffee maker, TV and such. At the end of this you will find the bathroom, also spacious with, among others, a bubble bath. Everything you could possibly need is there. The view is beautiful on all sides. At the rear is a small terrace with table and four chairs. Here we enjoyed our breakfast every morning (due to COVID this was not yet possible in the dining room in the main building), overlooking the hilly area and lake next to it. A big surprise was the large amount of birds that can be seen here. For bird watchers this is paradise: all you have to do is sit down and before you know it you have spotted 30 species (at least that is what my husband did). The plantation is about a half-hour drive from Charlottesville (WHS University of Virginia) and from three president's homes: Madison, Monroe, and Jefferson (WHS). An area with a lot of history. Doc and his staff were very friendly and make you feel at home. A wonderful place to stay (three nights is really too short) and to return to. Hopefully the restaurant will be open again by then.

Prospect Hill was a perfect place for our family to come together from GA, PA and KY. The property is beautiful, the breakfast was excellent and the hosts, Doc and Paula were awesome. We will return, it was too wonderful not to revisit.

If you are looking for a quiet retreat in a most beautiful country setting close to Charlottesville, Prospect Hill Inn is a perfect place. We enjoyed two nights in the Summer Kitchen cottage and were completely smitten with the gorgeous landscape, warm welcome and peaceful atmosphere of this special place. Our dog enjoyed the fields and forest trails and we couldn't get enough of the lovely views from every angle on the property. Paula's breakfasts were superb - the absolute best waffles I've ever had. Doc, Paula & their staff will attend to every need and make your stay comfortable and most welcoming. We will most definitely make this our go-to for future trips to Charlottesville. Prospect Hill Inn and Restaurant’s new owners, Jim and Terenee, are continuing the tradition of warm and gracious hospitality that we experienced on our first visit in 1987. Upon arrival you are greeted as friends; upon departure we felt like family. The grounds are impressive any time of year; breakfast is not to be missed; the Friday night five course dinner offered to overnight guests was spectacular. We made our reservations to stay again next year. Treat yourself. PS. Do not miss the chocolate chip cookies!
