Hotel la Mariposa

What happened to a once wonderful thriving Hotel especially for British.. Overnight stay on 13/04/2024. No other guests at all. Only my partner and me. Menu only in Spanish via an App! Our server/waitress, Maria, was great. TV inaccessible in English. Staff spoke Spanish only. Bar shut at 9pm. Really sorry this beautiful rustic hotel is in steep decline. Booking only on websites. No direct communication. Terrible, terrible…. Visited many times. This was the last. !

My father lives in Spain and treated me to a morning’s quad biking (led by the friendly - and very patient! - Gavin) followed by a fabulous lunch. What an amazing place! The scenery is breath taking, the quad biking is thrilling (I was a first timer and Gavin took great care to make me feel safe!), the food is gorgeous, and the service is friendly. No complaints - would highly recommend.

It’s so worth the drive into the mountain range to get to this beautiful hotel and restaurant . We’ve visited several times and stayed over the years and it really is the most friendly place. The food is freshly cooked, staff sit down and chat with you and the setting is outstanding . Highly highly recommend

A quirky place to stay right on the edge of the Sierra Espuna with a fantastic walk to an outlook. Stunning scenery all around. Sam and her team are lovely and the food was excellent, a nice change from the tapas world of Seville for past 3 months! We were the only ones there and were very well looked after for two nights, including our dog. Thank you!

We always come here for an activity day when on holiday in Spain. This time we came twice. We did the river rafting with lunch and then a week later we did the kayaking with lunch followed by archery lessons. The food is always good here and each time we visit it just gets better. Someone has been working very hard in the kitchen on presentation of the dishes. The views over the countryside from the terrace where we had lunch were stunning. I look forward to next years trip.

Have visited this hotel on several occasions. Booked today for a Sunday lunch drove an hour to get there to he told that due to a large group cancellation our table had also been cancelled and apparently a gentleman had called to let us know I explained that no one had phoned to be told that two text messages had been sent . I had never received either text message and certainly would not have driven for an hour if I knew the table had been cancelled. Once we left the restaurant to look elsewhere to have lunch i received a very rude telephone call from a gentleman who said he would send a photo of the text he would not let me talk then cut me off and will now not answer his phone . Terrible customer service we will not return

Great family afternoon spent quad biking with the family. Then back to the hotel for lunch - wow, just wow. An amazing 4 course meal, with everything clearly fresh and prepared on site. Amazing fresh flavours and amazing value for money. Staff were attentive and couldn’t have been more helpful. Already planning the next trip back.

We don't think it's quite as good as it used to be. Food a bit average and used to be excellent. Starter of ham and melon - very thinly sliced melon and very little ham, rather spoiled we all thought by a liberal serving of raspberry jam drizzled all over it. Chicken main course - chicken a bit tough and greasy, chips were ok. Curried cauliflower, poorly presented and bland tasting curry. Nice atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, quite a few people there so popular but at €15 think there are better and lower priced options within a short drive. Bring back the old chef and don't cut portion sizes.

Absolutely fabulous menu del dia, very reasonably priced and with the friendliest service possible! Situated in impressive mountains with great views of the surrounding countryside. An excellent experience.
