A classic B&B built in the 1850s with a gracious and helpful host on site. We spent two days and nights in this part of Vermont and enjoyed the hospitality immensely. Yummy breakfasts with homemade muffins, and waffles, with fruit, yogurt, tea and coffee. Frank, our host, tipped us off to a nice 2.5 mi. hike along the Mad River just north of town. The town is quaint with Saturday farmer's market and endless views of mountains, forests, and farms. Spend some time enjoying the lawn chairs behind the inn and lazing under the giant maple trees on the property. Lots of board games in the entry room. We staying in the Log Cabin room on the second floor, cozy, but comfortable bed, armoire and bathroom with all the neccessities. Our room looked east onto fields and forests. A very good value in our book, we hope to visit again!

The b and b is adorable, clean, cozy, warm and hospitable. It’s a cool older home with updated lighting and heat etc…. But the real reason behind my awesome review is the breakfast. it was amazing. i know you might think breakfast is breakfast but not at the Swanson inn. I woke to the smell of pancakes and coffee which warmed my heart. Once seated my husband had the pancakes and the avocado toast and i had the local granola one day and the best oatmeal i have ever had the next. I cook a lot and can vouch the high quality plant based food that they serve. I will return for the cozy rooms the comfy beds and convenient location to the ski mountains, but mostly I will return for the breakfast. I even got the secret recipe to make it at home.

Tim was amazing, we’ve never stayed somewhere with such a great host. He had tons of recommendations if you wanted them, but also wasn’t intrusive or anything like that. His breakfasts were great and served fresh! The house was comfortable with a pretty yard. On Sundays he asks what kind of pie you want and serves it with hot tea also of your choosing. It really made our stay special and of course the pie was delicious. The rooms are upstairs, and the staircase is steep so keep that in mind if you have trouble with stairs. It’s a historic home after all

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this charming inn! Innkeeper Tim goes way above and beyond to pay attention to every little detail. Trail recommendations, dinner recommendations, warm cookies every afternoon and a ready pot of tea whenever you want it and delicious, delicious breakfast. Warm, cozy, charming...on and on... We loved EVERY minute of our stay!

Any time you spend at the Swanson Inn, you will be made to feel welcome and at-home. If you can, get there on Sunday, for pie! The inn is historic, renovated, and very comfortable. The hosts include a seventh-generation Vermonter and a former member of the US speed skating team. I had a vehicle mishap before I arrived, and before my car was repaired, Tim graciously offered to drive me to nearby Sugarbush to ski! If you get take-out from one of Waitsfield's restaurants, the hosts will make a place setting for you to enjoy your dinner at the dinner table. They make you feel at-home.
