Our assessment of our 3 night stay at the Waldorf was mixed. The hotel was very nice and as a Diamond member we were upgraded to a castle view room. The complimentary breakfast was very good and the front desk staff were generally helpful. We did have a problem one night with the light fixture leaking water from the ceiling. This may have been due to a rainstorm one night and staff brought a bucket to catch the leaking water. The biggest problem, however, occurred after checkout. At the time of checkout I was told that the hotel printer wasn’t working so they would email me my receipt. Since all 3 nights were paid for with HH points I asked if there was a zero balance and was told yes. Later that day I received the final bill and was charged over $1,000 on my credit card for all three nights. I immediately called the hotel and was told by in house reservations staff that my reservation had been cancelled when I didn’t show up. I reminded them that we had been staying with them the last 3 nights and had no problem at checkin on the scheduled day. In fact I confirmed our arrival time several hours before checkin. So they didn’t know what the problem was but would talk to the reservations manager when they were free. In the meantime I called the Hilton diamond desk and again was told that someone had cancelled my stay with points and it had been rebooked by someone as a cash stay and they were not sure what the problem was. My points had even been put back onto my account by someone. By now I am a bit irritated. I finally receive a call back from the hotel reservation manager who tells me that the Waldorf had a computer glitch on our arrival date and that all hotel reservations had been cancelled and had to be manually reentered by hotel staff. However, Hilton hotels have no way to make reservations using points so they made them as a cash payment. Thereby the $1,000 bill. Now glitches are bound to occur sometimes. However, all of this angst could have been avoided by telling me at checkin about the problem and I could have immediately rebooked the room using points while standing at the front desk. The hotel did ultimately reverse the charges and apologize. However. this shouldn’t happen at a property like the Waldorf.

Für ein Hostel ist Code eher teuer aber das Geld definitiv wert, wenn man das Community feeling von einem Hostel einem privaten Zimmer im Hotel vorzieht. Das Hostel ist sehr sauber und die common areas sind gemütlich und den ganzen Tag durch belebt. Für 5£ kann man auch vor Ort Frühstücken. Das Hostel ist vom Bahnhof aus in wenigen Minuten erreichbar und hat eine super Lage gleich neben der belebten Royal Mile (trotzdem ist es nich zu laut am Abend). Die Pods geben genug Privatsphäre und die Wertsachen kann man im Zimmer in einen mit Code verschlossenen Schränkchen einschliessen (sogar mein riesen Koffer und Wanderrucksack hatten beide Platz). Das ganze Code Konzept finde ich allgemein sehr lustig. Beim Check-in bekommt man einen persönlichen Code, der sowohl für die Türe zum Hostel, als auch die Zimmertüre und das Schränklein im Zimmer öffnet. Die Mitarbeiter sind super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Whiskey tasting, welches in den unterirdischen Gängen des Hostels angeboten wird, kann ich auch nur empfehlen.

had a fantastic stay here! there were 10 of us who all booked out a dorm. was quiet, clean and good quality. there are two bathrooms and two toilets per dorm which i thought was very good. our room wasn’t ready for an extra half an hour so they gave us free drink tokens for the bar! the reason this doesn’t get 5 stars is because it was awfully hot in the room - even with the window open! there didn’t seem to be air con - we wondered even if the hostel had put the heating on? we didn’t try the breakfast. the hotel bar had decent food but long waits.

Ich muss sagen, dass ich schlechte Erwartungen an das Hotel hatte, da ich viele Bewertungen darüber gelesen hatte, aber die Wahrheit ist, dass ich überrascht war, aber im Großen und Ganzen ist das Hotel gut für Kurzaufenthalte, es erfüllt die Erwartungen eines 3-Sterne-Hotel, ich weiß nicht, was man mehr verlangen kann. Die Entfernung zur Princess Street beträgt ca. 37 Minuten zu Fuß POSITIV: *Großes Zimmer mit Schränken * Fernsehen * Heißes Wasser *hervorragende Heizung * Haartrockner und Bügeleisen *Doppelter Vorhang, damit kein Außenlicht eindringt NEGATIV: *Sie müssen den Müll, den Sie anfallen, unten in die Container werfen, da Ihre Bettwäsche und Handtücher nicht gewechselt werden und Ihr Zimmer während Ihres Aufenthalts nicht gereinigt wird. * Das Badezimmer muss aufgrund von Rost repariert werden. Das Wasser aus der Toilette oder der Dusche kommt mit geringer Kraft heraus. Ich füge ein Foto der Aussicht bei, die wir aus unserem Zimmerfenster hatten.

Die drei Personen sind ein Dreier-Gebäude im dritten Stock. Die Lage des kleinen Bettes kann nicht direkt stehen. Das Hotelzimmer ist charakteristisch 😁. Die Lage ist hervorragend. Es ist zu Fuß möglich, Restaurants und Geschäfte zu erreichen, Parken ist auch bequem.

Stayed here for 3 nights over the June bank holiday weekend. The room was around £310 for 3 nights, which was much cheaper than other hotels based on it's proximity to the city center. The hotel is located about 1 mile from the Royal Mile and there's plenty of busses that stop right outside the hotel heading into Town. The hotel itself was ok. We were given a room on the first floor near the back, which was pretty spacious and comfortable, but it was quite tired looking with a few little issues (only mirror was in the bathroom, there was a stain on one of the chairs, the toilet roll holder was loose, shower didn't get very hot) The room was clean, and a maid did knock everyday to see if we wanted cleaning or extra towels etc. Check in/out was all self service. I was given instructions on how to check in the day before I arrived and this was easy to follow. There are cupboards in the hallway with things like extra tea and coffee, towels, loo roll etc that you can help yourself to. There is an intercom on the entrance door if you need to contact staff (we didn't need to use this during out stay) The hotel advertises 'parking on site' however there is only about 3 spaces. There is free parking on the surrounding roads though. I found the hotel to be quite noisy. Could hear people talking and walking about in the rooms on our floor and above us. The hotel is located on a busy A road, so I think the it could be quite noisy if staying at the front of the house. There's also no breakfast on site, so we walked to a pub down the road that opened for breakfast. Overall the hotel was ok for a couple nights, but if I was in Edinburgh for a longer period of time, I would stay somewhere else.

Good location for getting into central Edinburgh. Staying overnight for a wedding and staff were all very helpfull. Very clean, spotless bedding and comfortable. Free parking which was a bonus. No breakfast but plenty places nearby.

We stayed for 2 nights at Pillars House. Edna and Craig were very responsive to emails ahead of our stay and even though there wasn't a hot breakfast, I appreciated the well stocked fridge and pantry complete with Irn Bru. The room had every necessity, including a hair dryer. We had a room on the second floor in the back, which was very quiet overall. There is no elevator, so if you need that, you may want to inquire about a ground floor room. The location is great- very convenient to the tram line which will take you toward Ocean Terminal (to see the Royal Yacht Britannia) or down to the city center with convenient stops at Princes Street and St Andrew Square. It's maybe 60 minutes from the airport via the tram (use the Foot of the Walk stop). Coming from the US with an early arrival (meaning middle of the night for us!), I appreciated the 10AM check in time. It can be quite a drag (sometimes literally) when you can't check in until the afternoon after a long overnight flight. Thank you Edna and Craig!

Das Zimmer ist gut, die Tür hat eine Landschaft, ist das Merkmal des Burghotels, der Service ist gut, die Zimmer sind gut hygienisch und der Raum ist groß. Das Zimmer ist sehr präzise und sehr emotional.

Wieder einmal, meine Frau und ich wurden zu einem wunderbaren Aufenthalt behandelt. Viele der Mitarbeiter erinnern sich an uns nach vielen Besuchen und nehmen die Zeit, um uns nach uns zu suchen und nach uns zu fragen und eine kurze Gesprächsrunde zu führen. Es ist offensichtlich, dass sie das tun wollen, anstatt es zu tun, um einen Eindruck zu machen. Dieses Hotel ist in allen Hinsicht hervorragend. Ein besonderer Verweis auf Donna. Meine Frau benutzen einen Rollstuhl und Donna schaut nach uns beim Frühstück. Andere erwähnen Pauline auf Empfang (alte Zeit ein Vergnügen), Fiona auf Empfang und ein neues Gesicht auf Empfang, Hannah, die uns wie alte Freunde fühlte und war wirklich effizient. Es gibt andere, aber leider kann ich mich nicht an Namen erinnern. Es genügt, zu sagen, dass das gesamte Personal uns besondere Gefühl macht. Nur eine Sache; bitte reparieren Sie die Tür mit dem Druckknopf. Es ist sehr temperamental und es ist unfair, dass das Rezeptionspersonal (die immer auf die Hilfe beschleunigt) von ihren Pflichten entfernt werden sollte. Danke für eine weitere wunderbare Erfahrung
