We had a very pleasant and peaceful stay in Tea Village Home Stay. We landed in Baghdogra Airport at 10: 15 am. From there we we went to this home stay via Dudhia and Mirik. From Golpahar view point near Mirik this is situated at a distance of 30 minutes. After reaching Golpahar view point ask them for exact direction instead of google direction as there are two roads leading to Tabakoshi from this point. The journey is downhill and through a narrow road that requires an expert driving . the road is very scenic and through the tea gardens. After reaching Tabakoshi one needs to cross the river and again go through the same road for some 400 meters and you reach your destination. We could reach there at 3:30 pm and were served hot meals as we had told them in advance about our plan. The homestay is a small area with five rooms, a dining room and a small sitting area from where one can gaze on the distant mountains. We had booked the stone cottage which has a private balcony attached. The room is moderate in size with two beds that can easily accommodate a family of four. The bathroom though small is neat and clean , fitted with a geyser as well. I had inspected other rooms as well. the other four bedded room was also very good, a bit larger than stone cottage and view of the hill from the room was very good. But it didnt have a private balcony . The balcony attached with this room is shared by another double bedded room that I didnt find good . If one wants to book a double bedded room my advice is to book the rooms attached with the dining place. . The owner of this property is Mr Bikash Subba assisted by his wife and three other staffs. I must mention the name of Mr Premchandra who is an employee since the beginning of this home stay and his service was excellent. Food. Food was good which were made in their kitchen as is the norm in a home stay. We were served Darjeeling tea on arrival. Thereafter we had lunch with rice , dal, broccoli curry, Egg curry, salad and papad. In the evening we were given veg-pakora and chicken momo was brought from a nearby shop. In the diner they served rice, dal, cauliflower curry, chicken curry , papad and salad. There was torrent rain in the evening and that followed a power cut for the entire night. But there was a light in the room with inverter connection and we didnt face much difficulty for this matter. In the morning we asked for aloo paratha and it was duly served with chutney prepared from chilly and sweets. In the morning one can stroll through the serene village and tea gardens just beside . It was a wonderful stay that will remain in our memory for many more years. Price: For three persons in stone cottage they charged Rs 5100/- for food and lodging for one day. For the accommodation and food of the driver they charged Rs 400/-
