Staff was great. Big room. Hot tub had an ocean view so did our room. Fridge, microwave, AND a sink in the kitchen area. The price was the best with similar amenities in that area that specifically had an ocean view. (The beach isn’t a big deal but seeing it from my room was. If it hadn’t been, we would have stayed in Irvine.) Reasons I didn’t give it five stars: The elevator is where most guests are introduced to the hotel coming up from the parking lot. Not a great first impression. Probably the easiest cheapest fix. Clean it, find better pest control options, update the walls, and fix that emergency stop button ASAP. In the room, the door chain was broken. Like it was broken by force which was creepy because we were in the room at the top of the stairs from the street. That sofa was tough. It didn’t look like a sofa bed but it felt like the metal was poking through the cushions. The privacy curtains were missing (there were rods installed) which meant foot traffic could either see directly into our room or we had to use the blackout curtains. Kind of a bummer. Housekeeping does a great job. I’d stay again if they fixed those things or the price was like $60 less.
