We stayed at this motel because of the cool retro vibes from the website and accompanying reviews from Google, etc… while the photos remained relatively true to their word, the overall feel of the motel was a little lacking unfortunately. Upon check in we had issues with our credit card and ended up with a couple of charges that were luckily resolved before they were officially posted to our card. To the credit of the staff checking us in, they did try to help but they were limited in what they could do. The room, although decorated appropriately, had an initial smell to it as we entered it. Musty and moldy. We were very disappointed to say the least. We ended up purchasing some baking soda boxes and some air fresheners to help with the smell. Although it helped a bit, the overall smell would not go away. Perhaps asking you staff the leave the small bathroom window open might help a bit to keep some air circulation going. The carpet was stained a bit in some areas, but the overall noise wasn’t terrible, but we weren’t super close to the road. We didn’t have the chance to try to grab and go breakfast as we had a number of early mornings to hit the road. As some reviews indicated, the internet is horribly slow so please be aware of that. Though I don’t think it would be fair to rate this place solely on its internet speed. So much more can and should be done to upkeep this motel and hopefully give it a better rating. For those who complain about the rules and ensuing poor service, I do suggest you read their rules first before booking. We gave ourselves plenty of time and planned appropriately to make sure we didn’t have any issues. All in all, it was a place to stay and crash for the night. Not the worst place we been to, but has some potential to be better.

Choose other lodging in Salida! Check-in process is a concern. Welcome email asks you to check-in via a drive-thru window which is odd behavior. This business scans a copy of your driver's license which is completely unacceptable in our current world of continual software breaches. I felt like the drive-in check-in process attempts to hide this practice. A bargain hotel in Salida Colorado has no justifiable reason for retaining an image of your ID. This practice is an unnecessary intrusion into your personal information and adds risk to the data leakage of your personal information.

In all my 55+ years, never has any hotel been so aggressive about check out. I was not going to write a review until we received a hostile text regarding check-out. Hotel room was fine. Location is fine. No amenities at the hotel, no personal experience. An earlier than average check out (10am) time that was accompanied by literal threats about being as much as a minute late or a full additional night would be automatically charged is too much, tho. Hotel was not even half full, and my daughter was panicked that we would be out of the parking lot by 10am flat. Talking about feeling unwelcome. Borderline outrageous. Definitely not coming back after that text.

Would absolutely avoid this place. They told my family that we would need to book 2 rooms to accommodate our family after showing up. 2 adults 1 kid and a dog. Their *********** listing says dog friendly but we didn't read the fine print. apparently, the room we rented through *********** wasn't dog-friendly and that's when they let us know for us to get another room we would need to keep both rooms. It would have been fine to just cancel but our cancelation was $200 dollars. Seriously just try a different hotel in town. We were able to find a better hotel for the same price and the front desk lady was much nicer and actually accommodating. (que their over-the-top customer service voice on how they did everything possible to try and rip us off. )

Nice looking motel, and clean, but customer service was horrible. They gave me the room closest to the noisy highway, so I asked for one further back - though the motel looked to be less than half full, only moved me 2 doors down. But the real kicker is their checkout policy enforcement - they want you out by 10 a.m. and not one minute late. I had the motel door open, and was packing my last bag when they called at 10:05 to ask when I was going to be out. I said "Just packing my last bag" to reassure them I was on the way out, and the very harsh response was "You need to be out in 10 minutes or we're charging you for another night". Then 2 people show up at the door, 2 minutes later and get flat out rude "You need to be off this property!" Just the kind of confrontation you need when trying to recover from a long road trip (and the effects of Colorado altitude on a flatlander). Stay away unless you like dealing with people who seem to enjoy being rude.

My husband and I like to stay in retro motels when we travel; places that are unique and not standard cookie cutter rooms. This place succeeded - it’s not a failed attempt to update old rooms; no chipped paint and scratched doors here. Nicely re-done, good bed/nice linens, comfortable retro chairs, and spotless new bathroom. If you’re into fun retro lodging, put this place on your list!

We had a great experience spending the night here. Rules are a bit uptight. But our room was clean and very well decorated. Loved the bed and variety of pillows. They were dog-friendly and the outside area within the hotel is landscaped and well-kept. I have to disagree about the pharmacy window, though. The place is so accommodating, but that window is not user friendly and doesn't fit with the decor of the hotel. Kids area is just right. We will stay here again.

I travel a lot. Bed and Breakfasts, VRBO, Air BBN, hotels motels. I just came from staying in a CAVE 75 feet below ground, in solid rock. It had a zillion times better internet ( the cave) than this place does. WORST internet ever. Extremely slow load. Plus a trillion rules. I'm a 60 yr old women and those rules were for . . . I don't know . .. children? Or teenagers staying away from Mommy and Daddy for the first time? They must have had some sketchy guests in the past to have that many rules. The only "stand out" feature of this motel is the drive through check in and the bag of goodies they give you. It was clean too, so that's always a plus. But man, fix your internet!

I don't even know where to start. I'll start with STOP! Don't BOOK this motel. We were harassed by the "owner" Anita on multiple occasions. First, I was sitting it the room and it was 5 mins past check out trying to get a prescription called into the pharmacy for my 3-year-old, and she stepped into the room and stated, "Unless you are out by 10:10, I will charge you for another full night." I jumped up immediately and left the room, I didn't realize it was past check out. Then, as I was walking to my running car with my toddler in it, she approached my husband and told us that we needed to leave the parking lot immediately or we were trespassing. Who does this? Who does this in front of a toddler? Making him feel scared. Horrible experience for a small family on vacation!! Nevertheless, this boutique motel is cute but not worth the money. The staff talk to you and check you in through a drive-up window.
