La Dimora del Castelluccio

What an exceptional and luxurious stay at Dimora castelluccio! This town is incredible, and the dimora is in the best spot to wander through the medieval streets and do wine tastings at the vineyards nearby. Very comfortable stay and beautiful place - from the balcony you can see etna and the historic beautiful town below. Denise is just the most lovely and welcoming host - we really enjoyed meeting her and her hospitality.

La Dimora Del Castelluccio is an amazing place. It's a wonderful oasis perched high atop the mountains in the lovely village of Castiglione di Sicilia. The proprietress, Denise, is the most charming lady you will ever meet. It took her 3 years to restore this beautiful place to the highest standard. It's immaculate and beautifully designed. We spent 3 nights and didn't want to leave. We had a delicious breakfast every morning on the terrace outside our huge room where we were treated to the most magnificent views of Etna and the surrounding area. Denise will recommend good restaurants for you as well as connect you to a wonderful driver, if you need one. (See my other review for Dream Service with Carmelo Sava). Castelluccio is a great base for exploring the many excellent wineries in the area as well as Taormina, which is less than 1 hour drive. You do need a car or access to a driver. Note that there are many steps to climb up to reach the property, which could be a problem for those with mobility issues. Staying at Castelluccio will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed -- a true oasis. We will definitely return! Thank you again, Denise, for your most wonderful hospitality.

Grazie mille Donna Denise. Your house on top of the hill is beautiful and we loved our stay. We leave tomorrow and we are sad to go. Your hospitality is generous and your dinner recommendations were perfect. This is a lovely place. The village is peaceful and the perfect antidote to noisy and busy towns like Taormina, Palermo and Catania. Stay and re-centre. Recommend a very small car, and listen to Denise when she says ignore Google Maps.

Amazing find! What a great place. Denise restored an historic property at the very top of this beautiful town that overlooks Etna. An Italian friend told us about this place and I am so glad we listened. Denise treated us like family and helped us with restaurants and activities each day. Breakfast was amazing, outside overlooking Etna. We will be back!

We had the Deluxe Suite with the terrace and although it was too cold to use the terrace the views of Mt. Etna out our windows were breathtaking. Totally worth spending a little more for this! The room was also very large, with an open bedroom/ living room configuration, a large bathroom and was spotlessly clean. The proprietress, Denise, and the two young women who worked for her were lovely and helpful. The breakfasts varied each day and included things like Denise’s homemade apple cake and freshly squeezed juice. This is definitely a hidden gem, so well hidden it is a little hard to navigate to- initially Denise had to come find us in the local piazza to accompany us to the locale! But once we knew how to get there., we could find our way easily, esp. as the town is very small. There is not a lot to see in the town itself but we used it as our headquarters for exploring the northern part of Etna( mostly wineries and restaurants with a few walks on country roads thrown in.) One does have to negotiate a windy mountain road to get to the other local towns but after you do it once, it really isn’t a problem as long as you are generally comfortable driving roads like that.

Cette maison d’hôte luxueuse ancrée à la falaise et perchée sur les hauteurs d’un superbe village fait face à l’Etna. La vue est à couper le souffle. Un jour l’Etna est sombre, le lendemain elle a revêtu son habit de mariée. Son dôme s’est enneigé. La vue d’une des chambres, la suite, embrasse ce paysage immense, tout comme le reste de la maison et la grande terrasse où Denise propose des petits déjeuners typiques et variés. L’autre chambre offre des vues directes sur les ruines de la forteresse, le fronton et le clocher de l’église voisine, la roche qui surplombe le village. De nuit, de superbes éclairages transforment ces vues en décor de théâtre. Cette autre chambre dispose aussi d’un balcon depuis lequel on peut admirer le volcan et la vallée. C’était la nôtre et nous l’avons beaucoup aimée. Denise a restauré cette maison avec énormément de goût. La décoration superpose les meubles anciens et l’art contemporain dans une superbe élégance italienne. Que ce soit l’accueil très convivial autour d’un verre, la générosité du petit déjeuner, le luxe raffiné des chambres, les conseils nombreux et avisés, tout est mis en œuvre par Denise pour nous offrir un séjour inoubliable.
