Beach Shack

I went with my wife in April for our daughter’s anniversary. Must say the place has improved a great deal! Although pricey, the price tag is most definitely worth it due to the facilities included and how friendly the staff are! Had a lovely young gentleman ask if he could be of assistance to my wife who has become hard of hearing in the years. The place is extremely accessible which is definitely a new change.

What a charming property! Very strategic location in Cape May with direct beach access, free parking, free chairs and umbrellas, walking distance to downtown and a great beach bar and restaurant. We enjoyed the retro chic design and lovely sunrise views, it’s a perfect place for a beach weekend!

We stayed here two years ago and we were pleasantly surprised by all the updates at The Beach Shack. The elevator is a great addition. Employees were all so friendly, housekeeping was outstanding. They checked morning and evening to see if anything was needed. Highly recommend.

I never write trip advisor reviews - but I felt compelled to after our lovely stay. We are a family of 3. The resort was extremely family friendly without feeling like a “family resort”. Meaning we, the parents, enjoyed ourselves as much as our toddler did. We had a garden terrace suite and it was perfect for us, convenient, spacious, and reasonably priced in my opinion. The beach was so easy to navigate with a toddler, as was the pool. The pool was so much nicer than I thought - they need more pictures online! The pool side bar was also so enjoyable. Get the orange crush and Strawberry daiquiri! All the employees were so kind and welcoming. Our first night we spilled a bottle of milk on our bed and housekeeping cleaned up in less than 15 mins. The bartenders and front desk staff were also very helpful and kind. We will be back!

We stayed in an ocean terrace room to celebrate our wedding anniversary last weekend. Spent the better part of two days with an incredible view of the ocean from the super comfortable king bed. The new construction oceanfront building is fantastic. Finishes are great. Never were bothered by noise from neighboring rooms. The private porch is huge - seats 4 comfortably. Hotel staff were friendly and housekeeping did a great job keeping our room clean and stocked. Mainly writing this review bc the hotel website is really lacking on pics and details about the rooms. Entrance to the room had a coat closet w safe and a small kitchenette - undercounter fridge, bar sink, microwave, keurig, assortment of drink ware. Bathroom was plenty big for a couple. Might be cramped with 4 people in the room. Big shower, good water pressure. Plenty of storage in the vanity. King bed in the main room with a dresser, wall hung smart TV, loveseat, coffee table and separate armchair. Private outdoor space w 2x plywood fabric chairs and 2x poly wood rocking chairs. Highly recommend the Ocean Terrace room!

The DOG friendly room was why we went there, It was a great location, the room was very clean, the grounds were well maintained. The towels and bedding were of good quality, The Rusty Nail connection was a plus as well.

This hotel falls quite short on value. For the amount of money you'll spend, you could fly to a nicer hotel in a nicer location, and be ON the beach, not just across the street from it. There's no elevator here so move-in and move-out will be tedious. Multiple items needed repair in our room when we arrived. There's not enough parking for all the rooms they have, so expect to hand someone your keys and go find them again when you want to go somewhere. I could not find one housekeeper who spoke English, and the hotel isn't staffed by anyone after 10pm. That said, the Rusty Nail is nice to be close to just for the entertainment and atmosphere...but for $2K for three nights, there's better places to stay!

Upgrades this year have been slow but I must say still the best place to stay within the Cape May area with the kiddos. The Beach Shack has been our annual go to for years when traveling with the family. I like to think someone thought of the families with little ones, when they made the pool kid friendly with 3 to 5 feet deep then enclosed pool area. They also thought of the parents who need the rest with pool side service and soon a pool bar. This year they enclosed their picnic table porch are which is great for privacy and keep those kids in one place. They also have great room space from rooms with bunk beds (you'll get points with the kids) to spaceous private bedroom and living space. All rooms are stylish and super clean. Ohhh and let's talk about the amazing beach service NO need to lug chairs and umbrellas. Beach service is how life should be lived. Just walk a few feet to the beach tell the beach guys your room/name and how many chairs you need they will gladly set your family up. For years they have made my family's getaway enjoyable and relaxing. Tip: If you have children under 5 or multiple children ask for the first floor there are no elevators yet! This makes a huge difference when you have small kiddos or lugging a bunch of stuff while also watching that the kids dont take a tumble down the steps...Thank me later). Staff is extremely helpful and kind. We are excited for all the upgrades but would call to see when they will be done. We were there while under construction thou it was not noisy and the contractors actual help inflate the kids pool floats ; ) I know it matters to some just call then enjoy your stay.

4.5 stars! Booked for a last minute stay, and we had a great time. All staff we interacted with were super nice and friendly for check in and any questions. Comes with beach tags right across the street, and the pool area was so nice. We loved the complimentary towels for the chairs! Only reason we wouldn’t give it 5 stars is that the bathroom set up is a little odd; the shower glass/half door was awkward to navigate as far as adjusting the water temperature - even for an able bodied person; I’d imagine it would be even harder for someone needing more accessibility. The floor would get wet too.. Overall we enjoyed our stay! It was clean, comfortable, and accessible to the beach and area shops & restaurants. I just wish it had a night light or a clock in the room :) so if you’re planning on staying here you may want to pack that! There’s a nice seating area, with the Rusty Nail restaurant and some live music each night. It can get a little loud at time, but it was never anything bothersome. We’d recommend!
