GGastnutzerThe hotel is situated close to the ancient town, reachable by foot. The room was big and good, however the mattress is hard as stone :-). The view was to a quiet street, not nice, but okay. The staff was very friendly and we also got a welcome fruit plate. All in all a good hotel. Breakfast was served in a restaurant around the corner, simple chinese style without drinks (no tea, no coffee)

SShalinda WThis homestay (B&B) was Amazing! Coming from the US, and not being able to speak Chinese, we just planned to not take advantage of any hotel transportation. This hotel reached out to us via chat on Trip and coordinated pick-up a couple days prior, allowing us to use translation apps. Our train arrived several hours before scheduled check-in for the hotel, wasn’t an issue at all. Check-in was quick and we received some local goodies as well as a fruit basket. Amenities for the room are amazing, room itself is fully electronic and state of the art. The blow dryer was Dyson! We planned to walk to lunch, they kindly gave us a free ride. Breakfast was great as well with some local specialities (all fresh, not a buffet). This homestay was so welcoming and amazing, it made us sad we had only planned one night in Datong!

Die Lage ist sehr praktisch. In der antiken Stadt können Autos in der Nähe gefahren werden und es ist sehr bequem, berühmte Restaurants im Internet zu erreichen.
Der Laden ist in der Tat sehr sauber, das Zimmer, das Bett und der Innenhof sorgen dafür, dass sich die Leute sehr wohl fühlen und die Heizung ist im Winter ausreichend werden gar nicht benötigt.
Die Verkäuferinnen waren sehr nett und halfen mir mit dem Gepäck. Sie gaben mir auch Kandiszucker und Schneebirne, was super lecker war. Das Frühstück ist voller Rituale, eine Portion pro Person, wenn nicht genug, können Sie mehr hinzufügen.
Der Chef war sehr begeistert. Wir fragten den Chef beiläufig, ob er ein Auto gechartert hätte oder ob wir den Preis für ein gechartertes Auto wüssten Auto. Er ist immer auf unsere Wünsche eingegangen. Wir waren sehr zufrieden, kommen wieder.

GGastnutzerWe took a 23-day trip through China, staying in 9 different hotels. Without hesitation, I can say that our stay at Floral stood out in many ways. First, the hotel's structure is very beautiful and has been renovated while staying true to the traditional style of the region. The hotel room itself was probably the most beautiful we had seen on our entire trip: spacious, with windows that actually opened, good air conditioning, and modern decor and furniture without being over the top. Second, the hotel's location is within the boundaries of the city wall and is part of the old town, so beautiful to walk around and see the traditional houses - many of them renovated according to the traditional style. And third and most importantly, the kindness of the people who work at the hotel. I have never felt so welcome anywhere on holiday as at this place. Unfortunately, I arrived with health problems and needed antibiotics - equivalents of the ones I had brought from Europe. I asked the reception where I could find the closest pharmacy, but rather than guiding me there, Xiao Liu, the lady at the reception, figured out for me which antibiotic would be the right one and got it for me. The same when we needed a suitcase, rather than sending me to the shop she inquired about our desired suitcase and in one hour it was there. Drinks are complementary at any time of the day, and the breakfast (Chinese and international - sandwiches) was generous and unlimited. When we were running late coming back from the grottoes and needed to catch a train, Xiao Liu helped us out by bringing us all our suitcases directly to the train station. We will never forget all these acts of kindness and we are still grateful to her and the entire hotel staff for making us feel so much at home. Datong will stay in our minds and hearts forever thanks to the people of the Floral hotel. Datong is special enough for all the incredible cultural sights you can visit - but our stay there will never be forgotten thanks to the beauty of the Floral Hotel and its amazing people. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Die Umgebung des B&B ist sehr warm, die Zimmer sind sauber und ordentlich und die Raumaufteilung ist einzigartig, sodass sich die Leute wie zu Hause fühlen. Der Gastgeber war sehr herzlich. Er hat uns nicht nur im Voraus die Check-in-Details mitgeteilt, sondern uns auch nahegelegene Restaurants und Sehenswürdigkeiten empfohlen. Er war wie ein fürsorglicher Freund.
Die Lage des B&B ist außerdem sehr praktisch. Es gibt gute Verkehrsanbindungen und viele Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants können zu Fuß erreicht werden. Nachts war es sehr ruhig und ich habe sehr fest geschlafen. Die Ausstattung des Zimmers ist vollständig vorhanden, insbesondere die Bettwäsche und Toilettenartikel sind von sehr guter Qualität und mit gut gelungenen Details.
Alles in allem war es ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt und ich kann ihn jedem, der entspannen möchte, wärmstens empfehlen! Wenn ich das nächste Mal hierherkomme, werde ich mich auf jeden Fall wieder für diese Privatunterkunft entscheiden! 🌟

CChengxianliaohuaDas Zimmer ist sauber und ordentlich, kein Geruch. Die Dekoration ist klassisch und elegant und die Matratzen sind bequem. Das Badezimmer ist von Nass und Trocken getrennt und die Toilettenartikel sind komplett ausgestattet und durchdacht, wie Einweg-Badetücher, Mundwasser, Einweg-Toilettensitze usw., alles kostenlos. Der Service ist herzlich und aufmerksam. Da es in der Stadt liegt, ist es sehr bequem, die umliegenden Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants zu erreichen. Ich werde in Zukunft wieder dorthin gehen.

GGastnutzerI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries.
The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included.
The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride.
My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room.
The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily.
If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn.
*I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out.

GGastnutzerThe hotel is in a commercial building where many tenants have moved out. It feels deserted. Except for its neighbour Han Ting hotel and the minimart beside, there does not seem to have any activity.
The staff are friendly enough. There is no public toilet for the hotel guests. Guests could only use the toilets in their hotel rooms or use the public toilet on the first floor which is disgustingly dirty. It is a hassle for guests whose flight or train is in the evening after checking out in the daytime. I had to use another hotel's toilet in the evening.
The hotel room's shower curtains have frayed at the edge, are a little mouldy and need to be replaced. I suspect that as it is a budget hotel, the management don't care. But the room and its toilet are clean.
On food, the hotel is small so they work with an eatery outside to provide breakfast if you have breakfast included in your stay. The breakfast options are limited so it is better to go out and buy breakfast. To my surprise, there are no breakfast eateries nearby! One has to walk until the cross junction where one sees the Datong Railway Station before there are some eateries. Or, one can walk in the direction towards the Datong Ancient City and along the way, there are some restaurants and eateries. EatWheat 东方削面 is authentic in its local flavour.
The hotel location is near the Datong Ancient City. If you are up for a bit of walk, it is possible to walk there.
If there is an emergency, please go to 三医院 The Third Hospital which is the nearest public hospital with all facilities available. The rest of the hospitals nearby may not be fully equipped.
