Premier Inn Banbury Town Centre (Castle Quay)

I was very impressed with service & hospitality received, all round experience was to my liking

This hotel was of the normal Premier Inn standard and good value for money. The room was reasonably spacious and contained all that was necessary for a good night's sleep. It also had a view over the canal and free overnight parking in the adjacent shopping centre car park. We always appreciate a bathtub in our room. We did not have breakfast, but it was available in the hotel.

Myself and family use this hotel many times throughout each year. Being from Banbury originally what they have generated is this area is fabulous. However we found the hotel this time to be looking like it needs a freshen up. Dirty carpets in area’s, check in machines that don’t work, causing delays checking people in, wallpaper ripped in corridors, dirty and dusty skirting boards and walls in rooms. Bedding having holes and stains on. Staff attentive, location amazing but Premier Inn certainly need to pay this hotel some attention and bring it back up to their standard.

I was passing by Banbury on my way home so I decided to try the Premier Inn restaurant. I ordered a custom pizza and it tasted amazing. The chef Krisztina did an excellent job and service from Sonia and Leva was very quick and friendly. The place was also very clean and tidy.

We were a party of 6 with three rooms booked. We were attending a wedding reception and had to be there for 7pm, however two rooms weren’t ready at 5pm, so my four daughter’s had to get ready in our room, and we’re unfortunately late for the reception. Arriving back at midnight, we were told the two rooms still weren’t ready, and when we finally got them, the keys didn’t work ! The manager was apologetic and offered free breakfast, however the whole hotel seemed understaffed and stressed out. Complaining to their customer service was a joke, simply an apology, and a curt message to say the matter is closed !….Shocking.

This hotel is a bad joke. We are Premier Inn fans and they are our preferred brand in the UK. We have stayed at the Premier Inn M40 many times but thought we would try the new hotel and the Plus rooms. What a mistake. Finding the hotel from the car park could be a challenge for anyone not familiar with the layour, there are no signs. More details need to be provided on the confirmation letter. The hotel information says that car parking is £1 on a Sunday and Bank Holiday. We were charged£2.70 on Sunday and £3.90 on Bank Holiday Monday. We arrived at about 16.00 and were told we would have to wait for our room to be ready. When we got the room there was only one set of towels and the pillows needed pillow cases. The room was very nicely furnished and the bed comfortable but you now have to specifically ask if you want your room serviced and tea and coffee replaced etc. Breakfast was a disaster. On the first day queues were long in some areas, a domestic 2 slice toaster was woefully inadequate and only one coffee machine is not sufficient. There was no fruit salad on one day and no Yoghurts on another. On the third morning we were told there would not be any cooked breakfast because of equipment failure. Given that the hotel was nearly empty and there were very few staff, I cannot help but feel they were saving money by not offering cooked breakfast. This is one Premier Inn to avoid

Every member of staff at this premier inn are an absolute credit to the company! We only stayed for one night before travelling to a wedding in the area but the staff could not do more to help, we had an issue with heating in our room (being stuck on 26 degrees) the ladies on reception arranged for another room to be set up straight away. They were the only 2 ladies working on the evening but they worked so hard, front desk, bar and waitressing duties and nothing was too much trouble. The ladies at breakfast were great too, very friendly and chatty. The hotel is very comfy and rooms sound proof. Location is great too, next to Castle Quay shopping centre and right on a canal. I imagine it would be lovely in the summer. The food in the restaurant was mediocre, I would probably recommend eating off site for evening meal but the breakfast was great!

Great place to come to see visitors who are staying at the hotel. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Food is great, had drinks, breakfast and dinner here and all were cooked well. Would happily come again.

With a Premier Inn you kind of know what you’re going to get. More or less. But here you get more. It’s one of the very best of the brand. Wonderfully located, overlooking the canal and ‘entertainment district’ of Banbury, and central for everything. Linked to a decent car park. Housekeeping is immaculate. So comfortable. And room brilliantly planned – sockets and mirrors and everything just as you’d want, more than you expect. Lovely staff. My only quibble – I’d much prefer a shower to a bath – why are they still putting baths in these places, just so 1980s?
