We used to stay in this hotel years ago when our son was at Georgetown University, and it was a “go to” place. The physical plant of the hotel is still impressive, and the location is great. I have a gripe with Room Service, though. We’re only in hotel dining for breakfast, and room service is a bit of a letdown. The food is fine, but they can’t seem to send up an order with everything ordered in it. I ordered scrambled eggs, sausage and toast the first day, and the toast didn’t arrive. The second day we ordered coffee and oatmeal with honey, and we were served a small size coffee (2 cups) instead of the large one (5 cups) which we ordered. There was not enough cream for two cups, and no honey was there for the oatmeal. These may seem like petty things, but they ruined the in-room dining breakfast experience we had been expecting. The devil really is in the details, and I think I know why room service is lacking. All requests for everything must go through guest services, which then relays the order to Room Service. I think it would be a good suggestion for them to just let the guests contact Room Service directly. The way things are now, there’s no way to know who dropped the ball. It’s a blot on the hotel experience which should not be tolerated in a Ritz Carlton.
