While vacationing in Peru during March this year, the borders were closed and international travel went into a halt aiming to control the spread of the Covid-19. It was an unfortunate and unexpected event and we ended up staying almost two weeks until we were able to get a repatriation flight. Lucky enough that time was spent in this beautiful hotel. The building itself resembles a museum full of history, it’s walls covered in art and unique furniture all around; but the most impressive part are their employees, they offered us an excellent service in every level, they were truly concerned with our well being and made us feel welcomed and protected, they were friendly, kind, compassionate, simply amazing! All of them went above and beyond to take care of their guests, making us feel safe and helping in every possible way to coordinate our safe return to our home countries. Matias and his wonderful team helped us to make that time enjoyable, we’ll sure miss that level of service! From Victor and his delicious and artistic drinks, Milushca greetings us at breakfast, Roger remembering what we liked to order with our meals, Darwin and so many others! Thank you Palacio del Inca, you raised the bar of expectations for service really high! Hopefully we’ll get to come back soon and finish the visit of all the other places we couldn’t!

We stayed in JW just after Christmas, on our way to Urubamba. It was a 3 night stay and we have all enjoyed it very much! As soon as you enter trough the huge massive wooden door and smell that signature JW smell... your brain takes you back to the last vacation... ohhh how much we have missed it!!! Hotel hosts lots of different events (We did not opt for paid tours due to social distancing and we enjoyed exploring Cusco on our own. With kids it’s a bit more tricky). Hotel had a wonderful tour that we booked in adnavce- a visit to a local chocolate shop. They showed us all the process, we tried some of their delicious products... it was both interesting for the kids and educational for us. We were joined by the JW chef, he is lots of fun as well and gave us some great tips! Another day we had pisco sour classes, and also a tour of the hotel grounds with our guide Jesus! (Some very interesting findings on the grounds!) well worth the wait! We enjoyed the pool in the nights (by appointment only so you get it all to yourself!! 🙌🏻 ) Breakfast was delicious!! Panchito was the star there! Dinner as well (pizza to lick the fingers off!) Social distancing at All times!! Hand sanitizers everywhere... masks ! It was a truly stress free experience in this stressful times!! Comments from other guests were all the same; we feel so good and safe! We know we are well protected here! Looking forward to visiting JW Cusco again!

Disclaimer: I actually stayed in October 2018 but in light of Covid, I’m revisiting as many of the great hotels I previously stayed at to hopefully help their bottom line when travel begins to resume. My amazing experiences with the Belmond brand include: - Hotel Monasterio - Andean Explorer Train - Sanctuary Lodge (Machu Picchu) - Hiram Bingham Train - La Samanna (St. Martin) I made my way here after 3 days aboard the Belmond Andean Explorer. The train manager, Arnaldo, was kind enough to call ahead for a room upgrade on my behalf. I was a solo, female traveler, mid-30s, on my trip to Peru. I felt extremely safe and well taken care of by all the Belmond staff during my trip. Here are my highlights: - Every corner of the hotel, especially the artwork and artifacts, is stunning. - They light a fire in the inner courtyard and play chants in the evening. It’s completely intoxicating. And the conference room is incredible; a must-see. So much to admire. How anyone could focus on a meeting in there is beyond me! - The breakfast is perfect, offering a wide array of healthy choices (which is great since there are a lot of people staying here before their hike up to Machu Picchu). - The entire staff is incredibly friendly and professional. - The hotel is perfectly situated; just a block or two away from the main square so it’s more quiet but everything is just a few steps away. Very much looking forward to another visit here. 5 stars! A+++!

The heart of the ancient Inca Empire, mythical and vibrant Cusco is a city beyond imagination for even the most seasoned travellers. It stands to reason that Belmond Palacio Nazarenas should be equally individual and rich in history. Your ‘Once upon a time…’ journey starts here.Would the nuns in this converted 17th-century convent have approved of the pisco sour cocktail-making stations? Anything is possible, given the diverse incarnations of this contemporary urban retreat. Our acclaimed hotel was built on Inca foundations and became a palatial private home in the 1500s. It was owned by the conquistador Mancio Serra de Leguizamón—a warrior who is said to have gambled and lost the gold Inca image of the sun from the Coricancha temple. The Jesuits converted the building into a school in 1644, which itself became a convent in 1715.We’ve preserved all that’s most precious here: you’ll find original Inca stonework, colonial frescos and gold-framed paintings collected by the nuns. At the same time you’ll discover the best of the new world within our walls. From our cutting-edge contemporary Art Lima collection to our suites’ oxygen-enriched air-conditioning, underfloor heating and Bose sound systems. We’ll look after you in the most elegant way possible, whether your idea of relaxing is taking a morning yoga class or an evening salsa lesson. We believe that the small touches matter. Our guests can enjoy the services of our soap butler, who offers herbal baths, special pillows and soaps made with flowers from our garden. They’ll help you acclimatise to the altitude. Under the careful eye of chef Rodrigo, our restaurant Senzo uses vegetables grown at an organic farm in the Sacred Valley. Many of our dishes feature indigenous herbs and are decorated with edible flowers grown from our own gardens. With Hypnôze Spa really does offer an experience like no other. Treatment rooms feature glass floors looking down to the beautifully preserved Inca foundations underneath.
