Thermen-Hotels in Präfektur Hiroshima, Japan

We are a family of four—two Japanese children and two adults (half Japanese, half American). We’ve lived in Japan for 25 years and have stayed in many ryokan across the country. We’re happy to pay a premium if the experience is worth it, but unfortunately, this ryokan did not meet expectations. The public bath is in need of renovation, the food was very ordinary, and there were storage boxes placed around the restaurant during dinner, which took away from the atmosphere. Staff are nice.

Das Hotel ist sehr schön und ordentlich. Die Lage etwas ausserhalb von den Sightseeingspits, allerdings gibt es einen Bus der direkt bis dahin fährt. Und es bietet sehr schöne aussichten über das Meer und den Hafen. Abzug für den Service, das Hotel hat 10 minuten mit mir diskutiert weil es unbedingt meine Kreditkarte haben wollte. Musste mich dann an den Manager wenden bis endlich akzeptiert wurde, dass ich nur eine Nacht und nur zum schlafen in diesem Hotel einchecke, da es nur ein kleiner Stop auf meiner Japan-Rundreise war. Es gab allerdings noch ein kleines Zimmer-Upgrade zum QueenSizeBed-Room. Abgesehen von dieser Diskussion empfehle ich das Hotel auf jeden fall weiter.

Das Hotel hat eine traumhafte Lage – nur etwa fünf Minuten vom Pier entfernt, mit Blick auf das Meer und die Stadt. Ein- und Auschecken verliefen schnell, und das Personal war zuvorkommend. Wir hätten uns lediglich gewünscht, beim Einchecken mehr Informationen zu den Hotelregeln zu erhalten: Wo man die Schuhe auszieht, wo man die Straßenschuhe abstellt, dass man sich einen Yukata ausleihen muss und dass es, insbesondere für Erstgäste, ein Begrüßungseis gibt. Das haben wir dann aber selbst herausgefunden. Beim Einchecken konnten wir zwischen verschiedenen Essens- und Frühstückszeiten wählen. Wir entschieden uns für ein spätes Frühstück, was sich jedoch als großer Vorteil erwies: Wir hatten Zeit, durch die Stadt zu schlendern, bevor die Touristen kamen, was sehr authentisch wirkte. Man kann sich im Hotel ein Fahrrad mieten und die Gegend erkunden, solange die Straßen noch leer sind. Das Zimmer selbst ist geräumig und authentisch eingerichtet, die Betten sind groß und bequem, die Bettwäsche, Handtücher und Bademäntel sind schneeweiß, und die kostenlosen japanischen Socken sind eine nette Geste. Der Pyjama hingegen war enttäuschend: Das synthetische Material fühlt sich unangenehm auf der Haut an. Abendessen und Frühstück werden in Buffetform angeboten und sind sehr abwechslungsreich und reichhaltig. Zum Abendessen besteht auch die Möglichkeit zu grillen, allerdings ist die Zeit dafür begrenzt. Besonders gut hat uns der große Whirlpool auf der Terrasse mit Thermalwasser gefallen – es ist unglaublich angenehm, im warmen Wasser an der frischen Luft mit dem atemberaubenden Blick auf die Stadt und das Meer zu sitzen, und das Gefühl danach ist einfach wunderbar. Allein dafür lohnt sich ein erneuter Besuch! Auch das Hotel selbst hat uns sehr gut gefallen; wir haben bereits Pläne für unsere Rückkehr geschmiedet. Vielen Dank!

Nettes Ryokan in Miyajima. Das Ryokan liegt ziemlich weit oben auf einem Hügel vom Bahnhof entfernt, aber es wird ein kostenloser Transport vom und zum Hotel angeboten. Sowohl das Kaiseki-Abendessen als auch das Frühstück waren ausgezeichnet. Der Service war tadellos. Es liegt etwa fünf Gehminuten vom Itsukushima-Schrein entfernt. Das Zimmer war gut mit zwei Einzelbetten. Onsen hat sowohl einen Innen- als auch einen Außenpool. Ich kann diesen Ort wärmstens empfehlen.

Room was small but enough for a solo traveller like me. To my surprise, there was even a microwave in the room. Everything was neat and tidy, and the staff at the front desk was nice and helpful. On the top floor, there was a public hot spring bath, but I did not use it. Outside the hot spring bath, there were drinking water fountains and vending machines, one of which dedicated to selling milk and dairy products. You could enjoy the Japanese culture of drinking milk - correct me if I am wrong (at least this was what I learnt from Japanese animes and dramas) - after taking the hot spring. Overall the experience was great.

I come to the island mainly to visit the rabbits and enjoy the quietness with the rabbits in semi nature! And this is the only hotel I can stay on this island. But everything is on average with friendly and helpful staff! The only thing I want to give a feedback is the smell of the room. After staying there for 2 nights, my clothes came with a strange smells from the bedding and its dated and damped smell in the room. Everything is clean but when the building got old, smells will just come along inevitably. So its better to offer air freshener or purifier in the room.

The hotel offers aesthetically impressive rooms that match the pictures, with the breathtaking view surpassing all expectations in person. The staff also provided excellent service in accommodating food intolerances. Unfortunately, the culinary experience was disappointing; the food was too mild and underwhelming for the price paid. Furthermore, the Onsen facility was inadequate: it lacked variety with only 2 warm pools and a steam sauna, offered no varying water temperatures (and the cold plunge pool was not cold enough). Additionally, the desired peaceful atmosphere was disrupted by having more of a socializing gathering in the onsen, which lowered the overall impression and value of the wellness area. In summary: excellent rooms but we would have expected more value for money regarding the food and spa.

We had a wonderful time enjoying the onsen bath, recliner lounge, ocean terrace and beautiful view from our room (Note: trip.com booking of lowest priced room with sea view is not correct as the room is located at the lowest level and you only see trees before the ocean. We need to pay extra to upgrade the room to a better view). There's a private onsen bath tub in the room too. They also provide free coffee, popsicle sticks and yukata at the lobby. Dinner and breakfast has a reasonable spread but most food (especially the fried ones) are pre-cooked and cold. So they don't taste as good. The location is high up the hills. It's not possible to get a bus and then climb up with heavy luggages. The best way is to take a taxi, so be prepared to pay the price.

@trip.com Das von mir gebuchte Economy-Einzelzimmer hatte laut trip.com ein Badezimmer. Im Zimmer selbst gab es jedoch keins – eine klare Falschdarstellung! Ich kontaktierte daraufhin das Hotelpersonal. Für ein Zimmer mit eigenem Bad sollte ich 500 Yen pro Nacht extra bezahlen. Insgesamt musste ich also 2000 Yen mehr zahlen – ich war völlig hilflos! Glücklicherweise waren die Hotelzimmer aber tatsächlich gut, sauber und ordentlich. Sie wurden täglich gereinigt. Die Lage des Hotels ist wirklich super: Mit dem Bus oder zu Fuß ist man in etwa 20 Minuten am Bahnhof Hiroshima, in ca. 10 Minuten in der Einkaufsstraße. Zwei Supermärkte befinden sich in der Nähe, allerdings nicht direkt am Hotel. Die heiße Quelle ist toll und sehr sauber!

Beautiful onsen hotel with Miyajima islands view. Shuttle bus service from and to train station is very convenient.Breakfast and dinner are very amazing and delicious. I forgot smart watch and chargers in the room,The hotel promptly sent to me when I contacted the hotel only smart watch no chargers but no problem. No room cleaning while staying 2 nights just towels hanging in front of the door. I wish the onsen pond was bigger than nowadays because of too much customers in the onsen pond. I will come back again to the hotel for sure.
