Book only one night needed to be closed to the airport prior to leaving Costa Rica. I arrived too early to check in so I left my backpack in the storage and went sightseeing. Rooms were cleaned however my issues was with the cleanliness of the bathrooms I wish they were cleaner . Shower’s didn’t have any hooks or shelves and I didn’t have anywhere to but my stuff other then the floor. I found a very cockroach in the shower which was also gross. Bathrooms could definitely be cleaner and furniture could be less broken done. Definitely more on the budget friendly side.

Superb hostal with great facilities, an excellent host (Dylan) and lots of small extras that make all the difference. Tea coffee biscuits and fruit provided gratis. Was able to stay in the room.2 extra hours to assist me in getting to the airport for my flight. Outstanding

I had a fantastic stay at Hostel Casa Colón — it exceeded my expectations in every way. The location is incredibly convenient, especially if you’re heading to or from the airport or bus terminals. The staff were welcoming and helpful, offering great local tips. My room was clean, secure, and surprisingly quiet despite being in the city. The common areas are stylish and spacious, with a cozy on-site restaurant that serves excellent breakfast and coffee. It truly felt more like a boutique guesthouse than a typical hostel. Highly recommend for solo travelers, couples, or anyone looking for comfort and value in San José.

GGastnutzerI stayed in a 4-bedroom dorm, great space, several guest houses and accommodation combined. I could use the pool and the restaurant of the backpackers next door. Check in smooth, easy, friendly staff, coffee for free. I picked the location as it was central yet not right downtown. Great Irish bar around the corner. The only thing you need to be aware of is the nearby train tracks. The train signals when passing, yet none passed at night, so all good.
