Strand-Hotels in County Cork, Irland

We stated for one night over the bankholiday weekend. Plenty of parking and a short stroll to the beach. Checkin was extremely quick. We had dinner and drinks downstairs in the lighthouse bar the food was exceptional and the service was fantastic. We used the pool and the outdoor hot tub which was lovely as pool itself seemed a little cold. We had a room on the 4th floor with a lovely little balcony which was unexpected that looked out over the car park and beyond. The bed was lovely and comfortable, the room is decorated with dark features including black paint but this showed up the evidently dusty areas of the room especially the radiator cover, while there was also heavy staining and debris on the carpet by the entryway and the water in the pre filled glass bottle tasted as if it had been there for days. The bathroom is lovely and similarly decorated however the existing low bathtub could be replaced with a lovely walk-in shower. We weren't told at checkin about any works going on in the hotel but we had our thoughts that there was because as we reached our room you could see dusty footprints emerging from a door directly opposite ours which was not a room this was confirmed the following morning when we were woken before 9 with drilling and sawing that was happening in the hallway. The guest directory said there was free WiFi but all networks were locked and no password to be found in the usual places like the back of the key card pack or the TV etc. We weren't asked on checkout how our stay was, just took our room number and said that's OK have a good day bye, seemed a little hurried even though there was nobody waiting behind us. Overall nice stay, top quality food and service downstairs but slightly better attention to detail in servicing rooms/ housekeeping and notice of possible works going on needed.

The hotel was expensive for the night as there was no breakfast included. I also then had to pay for parking, which should be included as it was expensive to stay with no breakfast included. Staff had assigned a parking space for me, and on my return from a family funeral, my space was gone. I parked in another space and when I informed the staff they asked me to move my car to another space. I declined. I had paid for my space, and it was gone on my return. Staff seemed to know nothing of what was going on in parking spaces. Disappointing experience. I would always stay at the commodore but will probably seek somewhere else going forward.

As we were staying for one night only we weren't TOO fussy. We got a family room which was also kitted out for wheelchair user. Our view was of a tall, solid concrete wall. Friends stayed in a bright, sunny room looking out over the harbour.. Choose your room carefully if you are staying for a while and like a pleasant view. Breakfast was just okay. I had poached eggs on avocado, peanut rayu and sourdough. Felt it had too many flavours. Would like to have seen some simple breakfast options on the menu. Several dishes served with hollandaise sauce. I also noticed a few flies hovering around the food area. Would not rush to stay there again even though location was fabulous looking out over the harbour.

Hotel needs refit.Bathroom shower very low pressure.Noisy room due to commercial kitchen equipment outside bedroom window.Very old tv in bedroom not a smart tv or anyway to connect devices.Bedroom carpet dirty near the door needs shampooing.Breakfast staff pleasant.

Lovely friendly lady on Reception. The bed was super comfortable and the view over Kinsale was picture postcard good. Highly recommended. Oh. And a really good coffee machine in the room also!!

Sehr freundliche Rezeption, schönes Zimmer und Badezimmer ... Alle sehr sauber. Wir fanden einen Ort, um unsere Fahrräder zu verlassen. Gutes Internet, sehr gutes Restaurant, gutes Frühstück. Vielen Dank für den schönen Aufenthalt.

Großes Personal, das stolz auf ihre Arbeit, hervorragende Speisen, liebevolle Unterkünfte in schönen Gärten. West Cork Landschaft, Vogelleben und Bantry-Markt sind ein großes Zeug für ein paar Tage.

Die Rezeptionistin eine reife Lady sicherte von der Minute, als wir angekommen waren, dass alles gut gehen würde, auch wenn wir Englisch waren. Sie half meiner Frau mit der lokalen Pharmacie (Danke).Das Hotel hat eine große Parkplätze. Die Teile des Hotels haben auch eine interessante irische Eisenbahngeschichte. Das Hotel liegt direkt neben einer anständigen High Street 5 Minuten zu Fuß. Sie serviert auch Murphy's in der Bar! Das Zimmer war gut, aber es war die Geschichte im Hotel und die Umwandlung der Eisenbahnbrücke in ein Trinkgebiet sehr romantisch. Frühstück war sehr gut und wettbewerbsfähig keine Beschwerden von mir Irish Frühstück ebenso wie ein Englisch für mich! Wir würden noch einmal dort bleiben, ja wir planen das nächste Jahr wieder. Ich bin nur ein 45min fahren Drom Cork Flughafen.

All round very good hotel. Staff very good and pleasant. Location is excellent. Would highly recommend the Hotel to friends.

Sehr guter Preis für Geld. Die Bar im Hotel war nicht betrieben, so war es ein bisschen schwierig, den Abend zu lösen, aber es gab viele Bars rund um und vor allem, dachte ich, es war nicht Frühstück inbegriffen, aber es war schön, ein kostenloses Frühstück zu haben.
