Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Meerblick im 11. Stock gebucht. Vom Wohnzimmer aus gelangte man auf einen riesigen Balkon mit einer absolut atemberaubenden Aussicht! Jeden Tag genossen wir den Sonnenaufgang, die Sonne und frühstückten im Sonnenschein – einfach idyllisch! Die Verkehrsanbindung war unglaublich praktisch; der nächste Strand war nur fünf Gehminuten entfernt. Direkt im Haus befand sich eine Bushaltestelle, sodass man fast überall hinkam (die Küste ist sehr lang, und Busfahrten können recht lange dauern). Wir haben vom North Burleigh Lookout aus Fotos von der glitzernden Küste im Sonnenuntergang gemacht – ein wahrhaft „goldener“ Küstenabschnitt! Das Zimmer war außerdem sehr gut ausgestattet, mit Waschmaschine und Trockner sowie einer Küche. Sowohl Coles als auch Woolworths waren fußläufig von der Kreuzung am Carville Boulevard erreichbar, sodass wir Lebensmittel einkauften und einige Mahlzeiten selbst zubereiteten. Diese drei Tage waren definitiv die entspannendsten unserer gesamten Australienreise.

Es gab Kakerlaken im Zimmer! Der Hotelaufenthalt verlief zunächst gut, bis ich abends eine kleine Kakerlake auf dem Tisch entdeckte! Ich schnappte mir sofort die Maske meines Sohnes und zerquetschte sie mit aller Kraft. Da ich befürchtete, dass sich noch weitere im Zimmer befinden könnten, schloss ich alle Koffer. Am nächsten Tag zeigte ich beim Auschecken das Foto an der Rezeption, und die Mitarbeiterin rief nur: „Oh!“ Das war’s. Ich äußerte keine weiteren Wünsche und checkte einfach aus. Es gab eine Kakerlake im Zimmer! Unser Aufenthalt begann recht gut, doch alles änderte sich an diesem Abend, als ich eine kleine Kakerlake über den Schreibtisch krabbeln sah. Ich fing sie sofort mit der Gesichtsmaske meines Sohnes ein und zerquetschte sie mit aller Kraft. Danach machte ich mir ständig Sorgen, dass sich noch weitere im Zimmer verstecken könnten, also schlossen wir alle Koffer, um unerwünschte Überraschungen zu vermeiden. Als ich am nächsten Morgen auscheckte, zeigte ich der Rezeptionistin das Foto. Sie sagte nur überrascht „Oh…“, und das war’s. Keine Entschuldigung, keine Erklärung, kein Versuch, das Problem zu lösen. Ich habe keine Entschädigung verlangt – ich habe einfach ausgecheckt und bin gegangen. Eine Kakerlake zu finden ist schon unangenehm genug, aber die völlige Reaktionslosigkeit des Hotels war noch enttäuschender.

Das Hotel ist ganz nett. Die Aufzüge waren nicht in Betrieb, was es ziemlich schwierig machte, das Gepäck die Treppen hinaufzuschleppen. Gute, sichere Parkplätze. Was mir nicht gefallen hat, war der schlechte Kundenservice bei der Ankunft und die zusätzliche Gebühr für die verspätete Ankunft aufgrund eines tödlichen Unfalls direkt vor uns auf einer großen Autobahn, die dann für 3 Stunden gesperrt wurde, um auf einen Gerichtsmediziner zu warten. Natürlich war das nicht die Schuld des Hotels, aber auch nicht unsere. Ein bisschen Höflichkeit, Mitgefühl und/oder Empathie hätte viel bewirkt, wenn man bedenkt, dass wir angerufen haben, um sie über diese Situation zu informieren und sie auch auf dem Laufenden zu halten.

Wir waren absolut begeistert vom kostenlosen Zimmer-Upgrade – eine so schöne Überraschung, die unseren Aufenthalt noch schöner gemacht hat. Wir waren schon öfter im Crowne Plaza und es hat uns wieder einmal gezeigt, warum wir immer wieder gerne hierherkommen. Die Lage ist hervorragend, nur 2 Gehminuten von der Straßenbahnhaltestelle entfernt, was für mich nach meiner Knie-OP besonders praktisch war. Die Sehenswürdigkeiten waren mühelos zu erreichen, und der Besuch der Aussichtsplattform SkyPoint war ein absolutes Highlight. Insgesamt waren wir sehr zufrieden mit unserem Aufenthalt – so sehr, dass wir am liebsten noch eine Nacht länger geblieben wären. Absolut empfehlenswert für Komfort, Bequemlichkeit und hervorragenden Service.

Great property and superb location. High floor rooms have a scenic view of the beach. Only 1 thing is that the shower water flow is really slow but probably due to higher floor issue. Otherwise, it’s a lovely property to be in.

Very comfortable night sleep, room was clean staff were helpful. Please note the lift is currently under construction so you may need to use the stairs, the stairs are not suitable for children as they have horizontal rails with large gaps. The restraunts buffet looked like it had a decent selection but we did not have it as it was $16each our two and three year olds.

Beautiful gorgeous apartment. We booked the beachfront view and it was absolutely perfect. Unobstructed view of the ocean + tennis courts. Pool was warm, clean and refreshing. Beautful long walk by the beach to Surfers Paradise. Bus stop a minute away to go anywhere in GC. Service by Luke, the young blonde guy at reception was a 2/5. We were given a room that didn't have a working dishwasher & dryer. Luke didn't even attempt to make any suggestions to help us. We had to return the next day to ask the older lady if we could use another dryer as we had a lot of wet clothes from being at the beach daily and at the pool. Our first day, we loaded the dishwasher and left for town only to come back to a flooded kitchen. We cleaned up without making a fuss. Service needs to be better.

This was not our first stay and in the main it was good. We stayed twice on this trip with a stint on Magnetic Island in between. Service on our departure stay was while not bad was marred by the gentleman who was abrupt and less than enthusiastic about being helpful. We arrived in the morning knowing we couldn’t get in until later and were greeted by a friendly and helpful reception attendant. Who said we would let us know by text as soon as a room was available for us. We took that to mean if we could enter our room before the scheduled check in time we would get a message. We never got a message. In fact we had ran out of ways to entertain ourselves and keep cool with just under an hour to check in time. So we went to the reception to assign the room was ready and were grumpily informed our room wasn’t ready and that is why we had not had a text. We understood this could be the case but the summary dismissal was far from reasonable customer service. No apology given we had patiently waited for over four hours already. We waited in the lobby and watched as others were given rooms. Why we had to wait while others did not was given no explanation and made no senseh to us. When check in time came and went is when I had to contain myself. One thing for us to be shunned for being early but for them to tell our room was not available at the time the business had committed to was very frustrating. It showed they had no system and were unprepared to provide reasonable customer service. We waited patiently and thankfully not for much longer and maintained our positive countenance. Thank goodness the room was,while only on the first floor, the better of rooms we had stayed in and worth the wait had it been managed better. If it weren’t for the grumpy reception we would have rated this trip more highly. Hopefully this business can get its cleaning process and attitude to customers of male staff improved the location value and room would be highly recommended as is a little work to do.

We booked the Ramada by Wyndham Cairns City Centre after staying in a hostel with a shared bathroom, so having our own comfortable room was very welcome! 😄 The location was close to the city and convenient for getting around Cairns. Our room was comfortable and with balcony overlooking swimming pool and city view It was the perfect place for us to relax and recharge before collecting our campervan and starting the next part of our road trip. Good location, comfortable stay and a nice little reset before getting back on the road. Would happily stay again.
