The popular spot near the centre to watch and listen to mariachi bands at night. This is a large open square, nice for walking in the afternoon and at night the restaurants lined around the plaza are filled.
Mexico is famous for its mariachi bands, and you don’t have to play top dollar at a fancy restaurant to have mariachi musicians come to your table and serenade you. Plaza Garibaldi, located in the city’s historic centre, is a place where mariachi bands congregate and play famous Mexican songs every single night. Eavesdropping on performances won’t cost you a peso and this is a great way to spend a mild Mexican evening as a couple, a family, or as a solo traveller.
Party central, literally. A large plaza in the historical center of Mexico City is THE place to find a mariachi band. The square is surrounded by bars and nightclubs some rougher then others, -and now a brand new Tequila Museum for a bit of cultural fare. A fun place but be warned that it does get a bit crazy at times.
Lovely.
