Schön entworfen und in Moorisch-Sephhardic-Stil von Architekten Marco Treves und al. (1874-1882).Im Stadtzentrum: 43.4622 N/11.1544 E
The Great Synagogue of Florence was constructed in the late nineteenth century for the small Jewish population of Florence. During the WWII, the Synagogue was slightly damaged, but it was rebuilt after the war.
A relatively late addition to the Florence landscape built in the late 19th century. Nevertheless, the builders were inspired to create a synagogue that could reach the pinnacles of artistic beauty already achieved in Florence, an ambitious goal, but one which they achieved. It is truly a spectacular building
NB all the DRIVING distances indicated in this guide are much bigger than WALKING distance which has no compulsory itinerary
It was interesting to see a synagogue in a city so full of churches. And it wasn't just the temple but also the entire surrounding area was also very clearly a distinctly Jewish neighborhood.
