Check in was meant to be at 3pm. Arrived at 3.20 and the room wasn't done yet which was no trouble to us to wait around. The hotel offered us free drinks which was kind of them.
The bed was super comfortable and had a lovely night sleep. The bath panel was cracked and honestly looked quite outdated.
The hotel itself is located directly outside the train station which was perfect for my first time going to Carlisle. And right next door to a Costa.
I'd definitely be back just for a sleep in the comfortable bed again

The hostel was great and worth the stay for different reasons:
1. Amazing location with big lake, near public transportation
2. Friendly and helpful staff, you can borrow hair dryer at the reception. You can keep your bag in locker room also, bring £1 coin or ask lovely staff for tap to pay.
3. Huge shared kitchen with lots of cooking essentials which can be used to cook nearly everything you can.
4. Clean and well maintained room.
Can’t ask for more with this price.

Bei der Ankunft wurde mir gesagt, dass die Buchung nur um 3 Uhr war und auf meinem E-Mail-Bestätigungsschreiben es klar angegeben 2.00 Uhr. Es sah aus, als ob die Lady DS mir nicht glauben und so hatte ich Glück die Bestätigungs-E-Mail auf meinem Telefon, um sie zu zeigen. Sie sagte mir dann, sie würde und Ausnahme machen und mir zulassen, in einer Stunde früher zu buchen! Ich finde es frustrierend, dass ich sogar das Wort „Ausnahme“ hören sollte, da ich nicht in der ersten Stelle falsch war.
Die einzige andere Anregung, die ich habe, ist, dass es eine nicht-Schleifmaße zur Verfügung stehen sollte, um in der Dusche zu verwenden, sowie eine Handfläche, die bei Duschen und Wäsche von Füßen aufhalten sollte. Ich bin sicher, dass Sie viele ältere Besucher haben und es würde ihnen verhindern, in der Dusche im schleifenden Boden zu schleppen und fallen.
Neben diesen beiden Dingen habe ich gut geschlafen und fand die Aussicht über den Dach mit den Vögeln eine wunderschöne. Alle schön und sauber und kann das Hotel als sichere empfehlen, übernachten.

We stayed in Carlisle for a couple of nights. The hotel was a 5 minute walk from the station and close to the city centre. There were a lot of pubs and restaurants close by which was convenient. The hotel was clean and comfortable.

AAlanPBooked in for 1 night to have a rest in some luxurious surroundings after a lot of travelling around the country visiting friends. Hunday Manor is a beautiful old house in a fantastic spot on the side of a hill with a great view. The hotel is very well appointed and the rooms are well looked after. The quality of the food for both an evening meal and the cooked-to-order breakfast was excellent. Perhaps the only facility I would add is a few overnight EV charge points in the car park.
The service however was rather comical, starting with check-in. After confirming my name, 1 night stay, and printing out the reservation sheet, somehow the chap on reception muddled up my solo reservation with a couple arriving on the same day who were staying for a couple of weeks and gave me their room. After settling in for a much needed afternoon nap in the very comfortable bed and 'locking' the door on the inside, the rather startled couple walked in having been given a card for the same room. From that point on I never really managed to relax. I offered to move room when I went down for dinner later on, but the chap declined and mumbled something odd about the length of stay and seemed to point at the paperwork suggesting I had signed it making it my mistake! Sigh.
Things didn't get a lot better in the restaurant. Myself and another solo traveller were given tables at the back (by the same chap), seemingly to keep us out the way of the couples who arrived later and were seated at the windows. When either of us asked questions about the menu there was lack of understanding about the dishes.. I was then asked around half a dozen times by multiple staff if everything was ok. Meanwhile I could hear one of the couples quitely chatting about their room, no doubt the room I was in. Upon trying to put the bill on my room, the same chap from earlier left me at the bar with a card machine asking whether I wanted to add a tip.
At breakfast the next morning it continued. When I arrived the first breakfast room was full of tables needing clearing so I was given a table in the same area where I had dinner. This time given a table at the window but right in front of the only other guest, a lady already eating her breakfast. My table wasn't set so inexplicably the waiter clumsily took a second place-setting from her table while she was midway through eating! After dusting a few crumbs from one of the plates I enjoyed my breakfast. Towards the end of eating the staff were discussing how to rearrange the room for an event later in the day and started moving things around. After hearing the same couple from dinner asking to be told when their room was made available, cleaners were hanging around at the bottom of the stairs when I returned to the room. Nothing like a bit of a hurry up to finish breakfast and get out of your room to make you feel like a valued guest.
Upon check-out an apology and a chat but by then the damage was done. No offer to comp a drink (or dinne)r after making a mess of things either. It's a lovely hotel that could offer a real 5-star experience, but the service ended up more like an episode of Fawlty Towers and needs a bit of a rethink.
Next stop China.

GGastnutzerRum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself.
We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area.
Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too.
We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful.
After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks.
We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny

GGastnutzerThe location is perfect, right next to the train station and it's very easy to spot the entrance. The cleanliness is definitely a work in progress. The key areas were very clean, such as the bed, the wardrobe etc. However there was dust on small things like the towel holders, behind the cupboards etc. (The only reason I checked was because my allergies were acting up but only in the room). A few cobwebs in the room that you only really notice when you're just relaxing. The bathroom was clean but in the grouting there was mould in there, so it needs sorting. The beds are uncomfortable, they're really hard on your back and both me and my partner have left with sore backs after staying, I booked a double bed and it's two single beds pushed together which would be fine if the mattresses weren't so firm. The reception staff both over the weekend and weekdays were so lovely, very friendly and welcoming and i can't fault them whatsoever. The team that refreshes the room were also lovely, very accommodating and friendly, they topped everything up in the room fast without asking and were also great. The night porter unfortunately needs an attitude adjustment, his tone and the way he speaks to you just isn't okay. Having a lovely day and coming back to the night porter being rude wasn't pleasant. All in all a lovely stay with only a few minor complaints.

GGastnutzerIch habe ernsthafte Missverständnisse über Hotels in den wirtschaftlichsten Teilen des Lake District, vor allem in Urlaubszeiten. Sie werden natürlich unaufhörlich überzogen, mit harsen und unfreundlichen Mitarbeitern. Ich wollte für eine Weile zurück in die Proper Lake District gehen, obwohl es ein Risiko auf dem Königs Kopf genommen hat. Es ist einfach auf dem Ohr zu finden, die Hauptstraße auf Grasmere, gerade über die beeindruckende Menge von Steel Fell, in der Nähe von Thirmere. Parkplatz überall in den Seen ist hideux und teuer. Nicht hier. Entspannt und reichlich Zimmer. Es ist ein langes Gebäude mit einem angenehme Bar-Restaurant und Biergarten. Ich fand eine ziemlich angenehme Wohnzimmer, wo eine Lady namens Jo mich incheckte und mich begrüßte. Es wird bemüht, den Handel zu verbringen, aber die Mitarbeiter schauen nach ihren Bewohnern. Sie flog mich anständige Realale und Jura-Whisky (das richtige Ding). Das Frühstück ist brischtisch aus einem Menü serviert und ist gut dargestellt. Ich habe sonst nicht gegessen, aber das Essen ist beliebt und gut gepreist. Die Straße draußen ist besetzt und ein bisschen rasch, und die gelegentliche Kampfflugzeuge rührt zwischen den Bergen auf niedriger Höhe, aber die unermüdliche Blässe der Schafe im Gegenteil bald wieder normal. Ich war ein wenig entschuldigt, aber der Manager sagte, er hoffte, ich würde wiederkommen. Ich glaube, ich werde, und ich werde sogar meine Frau bringen.

GGuest UserHier blieb mehrmals, sogar ein paar Mal, als sie nur nach jedem der Covid-Verschlusse wieder geöffnet und immer genossen, hatte eine Fab-Willkommen und die Zimmer sind sauber.
Nicht sagen, dass es perfekt für alle, da einige von Ihnen nicht ein Fan des Gold und Rot Dekor in den Zimmern, Rezeption und Korridoren sein wird. Aber es nicht schabby es nur altmodisch.
Die Badezimmer sind modisch, und die Bar und das Restaurant haben einen Gesichtslift mit einem nicht ultra modischen Farbschema von Creme und blau, aber es passt dem Baustil.
Nicht erwarten Spa, Fitness oder Pool und nicht erwarten Zimmerservice oder Cocktails.
Aber Sie erhalten immer ein warmes und freundliches Willkommen und Service.
Die Einstellung ist aus dem Schlag und Spur , aber es ist wert, dieses Geschmack, an der Seite der Wälder , mit Fluss über Wasserfall und Rock Oh und halten Sie Ihre Augen für rote Squirrel gespült.
Das Essen ist gut zum Frühstück, obwohl es keine Vegetarten, die manche sich beschweren, Nahrung ist gut am Abend, obwohl eine begrenzte Auswahl von 4 Starters 4 Hände und 4 Puds einschließlich einer Vegetart-Option. Yorkshire-Portionen für die Haupt- und Ladungen von Vegetart.
Barpreise höher als die Barpreise, aber nicht so schlecht für ein Hotel.

Rrockylee1. Das Hotel befindet sich in einer sehr guten Lage, der Weg zum Schiffshafen ist in 10 Minuten. Es gibt viele Restaurants in der Nähe und die Speisen sind sehr bequem. Das Zimmer ist groß, es gibt einen Wohnzimmer, überraschend, aber der Wohnzimmer ist am Bett, neben der Straße, einige Schmutzstücke früh und Nacht, insbesondere die britische Autogeschwindigkeit ist im Allgemeinen schneller und etwas beachtenswert. Frühstück ist vorbereitetes Brot, Joghurt, Milch und andere, manche im Kühlschrank, manche im Lagerhaus, nicht zu viel erwarten.
2, wenn Sie sich selbst fahren, und die Rezeption brauchen Sie eine Parkkarte, 3 Pfund pro Tag, unbegrenzte Parkplätze, es gibt mehrere Standorte, die Sie parken können, es ist wirklich sehr bequem. Wenn Sie gehen, können Sie zuerst zum Parkplatz fahren, und wenn Sie zurückkommen, können Sie die Schranke und die Parkkarte auf die Rezeption setzen.

KKristinMWMy husband and I stayed here in one of the larger posh 4-poster bed rooms for 2 nights nights. It is an ideal location, being a very short walk from the village high street, across the road from the harbour with beautiful lake views, but tucked high enough away from any street noise. And because it's a proper hotel, the room we booked was large enough, and even had a bidet. There was adequate parking, a lovely full English breakfast buffet, and a fancy bar and restaurant onsite. The only downside was that the lift was broken, so we had to climb to the top floor many times a day, and construction was taking place on site, but that was quiet for us as our room was around the other side of the building. If you're there in the dead of summer, there was no AC. (Just a heads up in case you're from the states and used to it all hotel rooms) Not currently any pool or hot tub at the time of typing this.
I would definitely consider staying here again and would recommend it to my friends. 👍🏼

PPriyanka BajirajThe property and the ambience is lovely. The view from the restaurant garden is very pleasant and beautiful. The room size, bathroom size and amenities were good. We faced 1 major problem to be precise which made us a bit sore.
Cleanliness - the room was clean except for the carpet. It didn’t feel like it was vacuumed. There was probably a pet staying in that room before us and there was a lot of hair on the carpet. I understand it is a pet friendly property and I have absolutely no problem with that. But cleaning the room properly before the next checkin is a basic expectation. We couldn’t step on the floor without our feet being covered with hair.
Apart from that, everything else was very good. Breakfast was also good and the customer service was very polite and hospitable as well.

GGastnutzerIch habe nur gute Dinge zu sagen! Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig und schön für uns beide und hatte alles, was Sie brauchten. Wir blieben in einem Dreibettzimmer für 2 von uns (aber am Ende hatte das Zimmer 2 Einzelbetten und 2 Bündelbetten, aber keine Probleme mit dem natürlich). Das Bett war sehr komfortabel, geteilte Duschen und Toiletten draußen waren sauber, geräumig und hell. Insbesondere der Mitarbeiter Matt war unglaublich hilfreich und freundlich und half uns, einen Weg zu finden, um Blencatra über Sharp Edge am Morgen zu fahren, uns über Busverfügbarkeiten und Zeitpläne etc informiert. Sie erlaubten uns auch, Gepäck mit ihnen zu lagern, während wir wandern und uns erlaubten, ihre Toiletten und Duschen zu nutzen, um nach der wandern zu frieren. Wir hatten auch dort Mittagessen und das Essen war lecker!! Echt toll Hotel sehr wert für Geld. Danke!
