The Rose & Crown York

Stayed here for a weekend bank holiday break and what a gem it is ! Arrived a little earlier than our check in time but was told the room was ready ....Room was delightful , very clean , the bed was very comfortable, tea/ coffee facilities, and toiletries to hand if you needed them . Breakfast was absolutely yummy ...cooked to order using great produce and staff very pleasant and accommodating . A leisurely stroll 10/15 minutes takes you into town , the Rose and Crown is exceptional value for money !

Good things and not so good things. Service was faultless. Free guest car park. Close to the city, Good WiFi, lovely breakfast and I enjoyed the good bar scene and large Sunday roast. The room (3) however is quite small. Not much room to open a case. .Cheap bed and mattress, but I slept ok. It’s road facing so try and get fresh cool air into the hot room and you get loud traffic noise. The good shower and food compensated the stay to keep the stars at 4. Hot night in the summer and it would be miserable

A friendly pub with excellent beer and food. Stayed there for my brothers 60th birthday for a racing weekend. Simon and his staff were on hand to cater for our every need. Breakfast served with a smile. Wife manages to leave her phone and was posted out the next day.😁👌👍

We have just completed a tour of Scotland and stopped at York on our way back south. We stayed at several hotels. The Rose and Crown stood out for the quality of the fried breakfast and the pies!! The location is excellent for access to the city centre tourist attractions and there is parking. The hotel room was a good size, bed very comfortable and a decent size with nice crispy sheets. You could hear a little noise from the pub below but not enough to stop us sleeping. The evening meal was excellent and cooked breakfast probably the best on our tour! Just got back from a smashing weekend stay in York at the lovely Rose and Crown. A traditional pub with a great atmosphere and good English food just 10-15 minutes walk from the city centre. The room wasn’t fancy but lovely and clean and the bed was nice and comfy. Breakfast was great, plentiful and cooked fresh to order. There’s free parking at the back of the pub which is a bonus coz parking in York isn’t that great! However what made the experience was the lovely warm welcome from Chris and his friendly team. We would definitely recommend staying here and look forward to going back one day.

Last minute booking, lovely cosy pub with rooms, ten minutes easy walk to Shambles, free parking, comfy bed, lovely and clean. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and warm, the food was excellent and the breakfast was perfection. Will definitely recommend and hopefully one day return. Thank you

This was our 4th stay at The Rose and Crown. We came for 2 nights for a little trip just before Christmas. We stayed in room number 1 this time which is a great size with a nice big bathroom. The bed was comfortable and despite being on the main road, we both slept really well. It’s a 10 minute walk and you’re right in the centre so perfectly located. On our first night, we ate here. Food was amazing! Breakfast is always fabulous, first morning, I had the scrambled eggs with spinach and tomato on a toasted muffin - was perfect to help my hangover! Second morning, I had a full English - beautiful! Husband had eggs Benedict both mornings as it’s his favourite. We’ve never had anything negative to say about staying here and I’m positive that we’ll be back!

Great stay at the Rose and Crown. Christopher was a superb host. 15 min walk to the centre and 30 mins to the train station. Rooms really cozy and breakfast was cooked to order and was wonderful. would certainly recommend.

Looking for words to describe this little gem, Situated just outside the walls so a nice 15/20 minute walk into the centre of York and not having to pay city centre hotels silly prices this pub is just lovely….. free parking at the back of the pub and everything is explained to you about your stay on your arrival. The rooms were warm and cosy and everything you would need for a weekend break, shampoo, conditioner and a body wash are provided in the bathroom along with ample towels Tea/coffee facilities are also provided in the room along with complimentary biscuits yum ! Breakfast “omg” enough to feed the biggest of appetites and a good selection of items on the menu to pick from … fresh coffee and juice is also provided Overall a lovely stay to go the Christmas market and a pub we will most definitely be booking again next year, but we will get in early as a gem like this, the word soon gets around ❤️
