I travelled to Vythiri, Wayanad for the first time with my family from 26th Dec. to 29th Dec., 2024. I stayed at Windflower Resorts & Spa located in Vythiri. I had taken Villa with Jacuzzi and had opted for Modified American Plan for meals i.e. Breakfast + One Major Meal. I had never stayed at any Windflower Resorts before and this was my first time with this chain of resorts. Here is my genuine review based on my first-hand experience at the resort. Location: The resort is located between Kalpetta and Vythiri, but falls under Vythiri Grampanchayat. It’s nestled between tea and coffee plantations, about 5 kms from the main highway that connects Sulthan Bethary and Vythiri, so you need to take a detour towards right, about 2-3 kms before Vythiri town, winding through the picturesque roads of the tea plantation. The road conditions all around is excellent. The only catch is the last 150 metres to the main gate of the resort which is a bit treacherous as that stretch of road is disputed between the different authorities and is not maintained well. However, that is outside the jurisdiction of the resort. The final climb to the resort is about 0.5 Kms, 30-degree steep climb which needs to be done ONLY IN FIRST GEAR. Trust me, I tried a couple of times to put my car in second gear but didn’t work. The resort is located on the top of a small hillock which is owned by the resort owners. The hillock has coffee plantation and the resort is set up amidst the nature and the plantation. Hospitality: The staff at the resort was very welcoming and always smiling. We were greeted with a welcome drink which was a fine blend of locally produced tea, honey, and some spices. We were also given hot face towels which was very refreshing as we had been travelling from Bangalore and we had reached the resort at around 2:00 PM. Check-in formalities were very smooth with all the required information given. Ms. Durga at the front reception and Mr. Subhash had been really very helpful to us. Special warm thanks to both for making our stay comfortable. Room: The resort has 2 categories of rooms – Suites and Villas. As I have mentioned earlier, I had chosen Villa. The villa had 1 main bedroom, 1 living room having 2 sofa-cum-bed where 2 more persons could sleep, a large balcony and a huge jacuzzi tub fixed in the balcony itself. The privacy quotient of the villa and specially the jacuzzi were perfect and there was nothing worrisome there. The villa overlooked the valley and the highest peak of the region – Chembra Peak beyond. It was a perfect view. You could see the sun-rise from your balcony, no need to go anywhere. Room furnishings and fixtures were all in working condition. TV was the LED one with almost all the national and regional channels subscribed. The bed comfort was optimum. However, since the bed was having the spring mattress, it wasn’t to the most of my comfort but that’s personal and others can find it more comfortable than I did. So, I would give 3.5/5
