I have stayed in less expensive places nearby which had at least the amenities expected today. Where do I begin with this crud hole? First of all, all you have is the street number—no sign telling you you’ve arrived at Betariel Apartments. The entrance door is glass which is shattered and taped together. You ring the bell and get some strange automatic electronic voice telling you to leave a message—but you can’t!--and then nothing else happens. You can’t go in the door until someone decides to buzz you in—and you can’t call but only write using WhatsApp to communicate. I wasn’t sure if this was in fact the right place, but I finally got buzzed in after several minutes of ringing the buzzer and wondering what to do. Then upon entering I was supposed to fill out a form on a screen on the wall. I entered the pin I received for my reservation twice correctly, but I kept receiving the message that it was incorrect. After struggling to fill in this form, the message appeared at the bottom of the screen telling me my room number and the pin to get in. I’m glad I noted the room and pin number, because you don’t receive anything telling you what it is, and if you forget it, good luck! AND THE ROOM!!! No wifi; not even a t.v.! Also bring your own shower soap and shampoo and tissues, because there were none of those either. The towels are thin and tatty and the sheets smelled as if they hadn’t been changed in a long time. The pillow smelled like oily hair. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable. I had to press the light switch next to the bed several times HARD before it would work. And checking out? Well, you never get to see or even speak to a living human working there, While I was vainly pressing the screen on the wall to find some way to check out, I was lucky enough to talk to another guest who told me he just sent pictures of the room to the WhatsApp number and wrote that he was leaving. There is also a 50 Euro deposit added to the room cost, which was also not stated anywhere. Seriously, find someplace else. There are less expensive hotels and pensions nearby which at least offer wifi, t.v., soap, shampoo and tissues—and are also cleaner. That whole experience was too shady and untrustworthy. And I got no response to my WhatsApp messages. I only booked there because it was in my company’s travel portal and near where my business meeting was. I have requested this dump be removed immediately from the portal.

2 issues forced us to leave after just 1 night: VENTILATION: not working at all, so the room got very hot & low on oxygene, making it tough to breath. INSECTS: made it impossible to handle food in the room (and we did not want to bring pests home).
