The White Lion Hotel

Always a treat.Well worth a stay. We have stayed here before and found the food excellent. Plenty of breakfast choice and great bar meals. Room clean and tidy Very pleased. Walks along the river is lovely and a great meadow for the dogs. Always good

My wife and I had lunch at the White Lion a week ago. I had a chicken dish with vegetables and my wife had caesar salad. The chicken was reheated and tough, the potatoes had been reheated several times. The salad was poorly presented with very basic ingredients, again the chicken was reheated. When I complaint to a member of staff he was very disinterested . I would not recommend eating at this hotel.

We went along to the White Lion Hotel for a group evening meal following the Kickback Show at Malvern. The communication with Flo at the White Lion was easy and professional. We pre-ordered our meals as there were quite a few of us. When we got there we pretty much had the dining room to ourselves and both the service and the food was exceptional. We were made very welcome and even paying the bill was easy as they had already split it up into couples. I would definitely return and the Classic Section of the HOC had a fab evening.

We booked for 2 nights as my hubby was playing in his Band nearby and we thought we`d have a little mini-break. We had room 203 near the top of the building with a nice view of the High Street. The room was perfect in every way, quite recently refurbished and done tastefully. Bed was super-comfy! Next morning we had breakfast which was enormous and could barely eat it all. We highly recommend this Hotel and especially Room 203. A wonderful Charity Shop opposite was busy all day long with some lovely items there. Can`t wait to return in the near future and the owners were very nice and chatty.

Turgid chips. When we complained, it was our fault for not complaining earlier. Bean chilli was a tin of tomatoes with a few beans sprinkled in. Mushrooms in stilton sauce were basically mushrooms covered in a strange mayonnaise. Ate it as we had walked for miles and were starving. All a bit strange...

Called in for breakfast after a walk with a friend who is local to Upton Upon Severn. I was struck by the inviting atmosphere as soon as I entered. Nice juxtaposition of old and new. Clean and efficient décor provided a relaxing environment. Had a lovely well presented table looking out out the sleepy town high street. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Breakfast was one of the best presented and delicious experiences since a similar experience in Bristol in 2015. Yes you read correctly, Nine long years until I had a breakfast that compels me to verse. It was so refreshing to have a breakfast without pretension or the latest celebrity cult addition. Each item was cooked to perfection. Even the baked beans :- neither too runny or too dry, nor too hard nor too soft, ( An area that lets the discerning palate know that the chef is more aware of his craft than most and understands the cohesive effect that one of the most cheapest and most common of ingredients can have on the bearing of a dish. Something our European cousins have been trying to tell us for years) Everything was as it should be, flavours deep, delectable and distinct but not each fighting for dominance as is sadly all too common these days. This morning a masterpiece was created that was as visually stunning as it was delicious. As with all good fare , I remained sated until suppertime. As the French would say, 'Parfois, une journée commence de manière fantastique'

Been a few times and we have both had great food every time at a fair price. We have eaton in the bar area which is really Cosy, with friendly staff and really excellent service. Can warmly recommend eating or drinking there.

Staying in the town for a few days and visited the pubs that were open. Decided to give The White Lion a try and we were delighted to do so. Warm, inviting bar area with friendly staff. Had a couple of drinks in front of a wonderful wood burner and decided to return for “Pie Night.”(Wednesday) Food was piping hot and plentiful. Choice of pies plus a full menu, including tapas. Would recommend.

Over priced and out dated, rude owner.. Upton on water 10th June We stayed here as 2 couples, 2 rooms, which were quite pricey, but in a convenient location. It was a red hot day, shorts and t shirts for us men, and our ladies had their dresses on.. Perfect. We went up to our rooms up a very creeky staircase and into our very outdated room, which was red hot and every footstep creeked the floor loudly.. Our room was small, not at all what you would expect for the costly price. Our friends room was on a slant with a bit of a hump across the floor, their deco was like something from a funky scooby doo set.. So anyway we were here, and out for tea we went and a few nice beers and cocktails to follow. When we got back to our room, it was so hot, the heating was on full heat, and we could not turn it off or down as the knobs were missing, so we opened the window and had 2 to 3 hours sleep, but woke up early hours both of us soaked from sweating, due to the heating.. We ended up going outside for a walk to cool off at half five in the morning. I complained to the desk manager at breakfast.. and asked to see the owner.. He sais she was out and took our details, as he agreed about the heating system, as it would not turn off due to it being part of the hot water system, i find that hard to fathem. Breakfast was not fresh and we could over hear the manager talking to the owner in the kitchen.. Who never came out to address us, we wanted a part refund as we only needed a nights sleep, but it was impossible. Even though we left our details to ammend the problem with the owner, she never got back to us.. A week later i rang up and spoke to her, who was very rude and defensive over rhe phone.. I asked her to be fair and understanding, but after about 10 minutes of going no where, she got loud and put the phone down, how rude.. So miving on.. i would and could not say a good word for the run down rooms or ill manered owner, please avoid staying here, as there are plenty of hotels around the town so much better, i have left it until now to give the owner time to reflect on her attitude, the old creeky rooms and compensate us, but no' our friends slept better as their room was cooler but very oddly decorated and would not stay again ever... Such a shame as the town is beautiful. Avoid as it will dissapoint.
