A conflicting resort —First the positives— Location in the rocks is perfect View to the opera house is great Beds are soft Food is good —The negatives — Amenities were a bit barren Robes were thread bare The shampoo is locked into the shower so good luck using it for a bath, had to pump some into a glass which felt cheap I got double charged for room service and took awhile to get sorted The bar food is significantly worse then the room service — Summary — Honestly a good hotel for the view and location, id be tempted to try other hotels in similar braxkets next time if only for the annoying little issues that felt out of place for the hotels look. If you have an opera house view room its much nicer to just dine in at your room and enjoy the view Dont pay card for dine in at the door, i did that and on check out it looked unpaid, so best to just pay it out on check out to save the emails back and forth headache

After a 12hr flight the last thing you want to do is self check in! I can not beleive a 5 star hotel with a name like Shangrila is now using self check in terminals so impersonal. The concierge guys were excellent and they only real people I got to engage with. Room is dated but Harbour views are fantastic. We did not have breakfast due to early morning flight the next day. Note: Steep 7 minute walk down to the harbour not good for elderly people The indoor pool was poor with a heavy chlorine smell not what I was expecting so I did not swim in it. I am a member but probably would not stay here again. By Contrast the Shangrila in Chendu China was very nice. Aslo have stayed a number of times in Surabaya both are dated but beautiful service & facilities

All the staff were nice and helpful. But the room facilities assigned to me was like 20 years ago, really a bit disappointing to me. 36/F blue bar was fabulous, drinks for two nights. Hope the room facilities could be improved to the normal 5 star standard

I'd like to leave a compliment to Linh, the vietnames lady who assisted me to check in and further with changing room. I would like to show very much appreciation to her. Overall, the stay was great, they provide complimentary water. We ordered in-room dining service for various times, and their food is great, the staffs were really friendly as well. The view was great as well, woke up with opera house view, it was a lovely experience. We also got lucky to see the fireworks being held in opera house right from our room. The only thing we found a little inconvenient was the location. It was considerably near to opera house and royal botanic gardens but it has quite a bit of distance from queen victoria and central area. The only thing the hotel should improve on is cleaning probably. After the room cleaning was done, I saw water on toilet floor (same before the cleaning), and they forgot to replenish some glasses etc. But overall it was quite a nice stay there. Thanks to Linh! Location: Decent, but not as convenient as expected—especially with the steep slope nearby. Food: Limited variety in dining options. View: Stunning! From 33 floor, Harbour Bridge and Opera House views were the highlight. ✨ Parking: Pricey at $65 (casual) / $105 (per day). Overall: 4/5 stars – Great stay with amazing views, though some areas could improve.

Disappointed to know that the king size bed was actually too single beds combined together with a thin layer of “protection” above the sheets. I could still feel the separation of the bed underneath, which was uncomfortable during rest time. The bed and pillow was too soft for my liking. I like firm beds/pillows. Even though I had requested a few other firm pillows from the menu pillow amenities, the pillows were still soft.

Spectacular views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House when booking the appropriate room, but room felt a little dated and tired and could be improved without much expense (old fausty smelling net curtains). Staff service on the whole very good and attentive. The 36th floor restaurant and bar look fantastic. Didn't have time to use other facilities.
