Rooms at 31

I spent 4 nights at Rooms at 31 whilst visiting family in the area. It is ideally situated within Stonehaven, a short walk to the seafront and a pleasant (but steep) walk to the war memorial and Dunottar Castle. Stonehaven itself has everything you might need for a short stay: places to eat, groceries etc. Rooms at 31 was clean and adequate for my needs. There were a few minor issues in the room which I have already contacted the owner about, but this did not adversely affect my stay. Breakfast is a self-serve affair with access to cereals, bread/toast, packaged morning goods, hot drinks and juice. The advantage of this set-up is that you can have breakfast at any time and it's not restricted to limited serving times as you would usually have in a B&B. It would have been useful to have had a mini fridge in the room, and access to a microwave, perhaps, for being able to heat food when eating out is not possible/desirable. It would also have been nice to feel that the breakfast room was usable outside of breakfast instead of feeling I needed to eat my takeaway in my room. Overall, I found the stay rather impersonal, not seeing anyone else for my entire stay, except for a very short encounter one morning in the breakfast room with whom I suspected may have been the owner. If I hadn't been visiting family, it would have been a rather lonely stay. This is not a fault, merely my preference. I can see how it would work well for businesses travellers or anyone who prefers the self-checkout in a supermarket and not dealing with other human beings!

A beautiful home from home... it was immaculate and the rooms were all massive... we were a party of 7 so had 3 rooms which were all equally as nice.. the heating had been left on for us so it was lovley amd toasty for us when we got there... the choice for brekkie was loads of everything and if im going to be critical about anything tht would be my only thing... i hate qhite bread with a passion so a wee bit of brown would have been nice ... but thts me just nit picking because what was offered was fantastic ..it really was so thank you to the owners for all kindness shown... we loved our stay and sadly missed the northern lights that were on show last night...we are planning a return visit... left a review on husky haven which we were going onto today and suggested folk use your beautiful b and b... im definitely planning on another wee stay ....

De kamer die we hadden, is ons heel goed bevallen. Zeer ruim, goede bedden en comfortabel. Ook de badkamer met douche was degelijk. Het ontbijt is self service (was ons vooraf niet duidelijk) en viel ons wel wat tegen. Genoeg zoete dingen zoals verschillende cakes, koekjes, confituur, ... maar geen hartig beleg zoals kaas of vlees, da's wel jammer. We vonden het dan ook niet erg dat we maar voor één nachtje hadden geboekt.
