Grand Hotel Aminta

Great hotel, only issue is the shuttle is never on time and to get from the hotel to main town in the middle of summer was a chore in itself, hotel staff were great and pool and views were great

Great location up overlooking Sorrento. About a 10 min drive to city center. There is a free hotel shuttle (which is a varying personal vehicle, it is not SITA public shuttle ($2 EU) we made that mistake as both pick/up drop off at shuttle sign locations. The shuttle car usually has a sign in the front window and runs basically every hour. They are prompt and at times a few minutes early. You can also walk (we didn’t) on a nice pathway and is @ 25 min to city center. Being up in a hill it was VERY windy sitting out on the room balcony in November, but still lovely. The property is beautiful with very professional bar and food service. Great selection of wines and the restaurant menu has a wonderful selection. Restaurant prices surprised me being much lower than I’d expected also. Food presentation was also spot on and everything was delicious. We left early one morning to our tour of Pompeii and the front desk prepared a box breakfast of muffins, apples and fruit drinks for us to take which was an unexpected treat. The gym is small and only open between @ 8am and 6:30pm. You must reserve the gym for only an hour at a time and in advance which was rather inconvenient but we made due. The beds were comfortable and have smart TV’s with Netflix, Prime and many other streaming services available which we found was not the case in many other hotels where we stayed. As an American who does not speak Italian this is nice. I recommend Aminta as a wonderful place to stay in Sorrento if you like to be away from the crowds below and do not mind walking or shuttling into town. I would stay again.

Overall really enjoyed our stay in the annex at Aminta hotel. Room great size and comfortable. Like someone mentioned reception staff are professional but not very friendly and neither r the restaurant staff. Pool staff and pool bar staff and Anna our housekeeper are absolute credits to the hotel and always greet you with a smile and a chat. Pool area is small but very clean again as someone mention prob the most uncomfortable loungers I’ve ever used because you cannot adjust to a more upright position. Breakfast was nice lots of choice and coffee great - poached eggs were incredible. As others said the shuttle bus is really the only way into town ( we walked down one day which was ok - quite steep and uneven) but only takes 20 mins but too steep for most people to walk back and would be impossible in the dark. We always managed to get onto the shuttle bus but only just( they def need a bigger bus which other hotels had). Just do not understand why they have a shuttle return 8:30pm,9.30pm then nothing till 1130pm. Another suggestion would be to arrange with other hotels nearby to pick up on the way down if they have spare spaces after collecting their own customers. Everyone said they should remove the 1130pm and instead do a 1030pm .i would recommend this hotel as views are stunning but if we come again we will go further down the hill so we can walk to and from town on our own schedule - when your on holiday don’t want to have to plan every movement

Hotel was beautiful. The entire staff really lovely , courteous friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel itself was clean , beautifully presented . Stunning views of Vesuvius, and Capri . A relaxing tranquil time . The hotel was near enough with the great shutttlenbus ( Alex was brilliant) gojng back and forth , but far enough to enjoy peace and quiet without feeling isolated . We stayed half board and really enjoyed breakfast ( especially the cakes - which were my daily treat). Good choice which covered everything . My friend who is coeliac was spoilt for choice both at breakfast and at dinner. Nothing was too much for the staff. The pool and jaquzzi were lovely . Towels were provided by the hotel . We had our towels changed everyday . New shampoos and shower gel everyday . A huge choice of , beers, soft drinks , wines , and cocktails were on offer. We didn’t have lunch as we were out and about . I really enjoyed the entertainment .

We absolutely loved the Aminta, stayed there for six nights. Every single member of staff we met were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The view from the hotel was fantastic, the pool area calm, spotlessly clean and well planned. We had a view from room 502 across the bay which was stunning. The shuttle bus was reliable (in terms of time, the usual bus broke down halfway up the hill on day three and was replaced by a smaller 17 seater whilst they get the much larger version fixed!) and was welcome as it is €35 for a 10 min taxi ride from town. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious, lunch great and varied. Evening meals could be a bit hit and miss but we still ate at the hotel twice and the other nights went into town, catching either the 21.30 or 23.30 shuttle bus back. All in all, a superb hotel, staffed by the friendliest and welcoming people.

My husband and I spent a week at The Grand Hotel Aminta. The staff are amazing, the food very good and the views from the terrace are stunning, a beautiful hotel. A couple of watch outs, the noise from the road is quite intrusive especially sitting on the beautiful terrace, lots of high speed noisy bikes and cars, still, in my opinion worth it for the view. The shuttle bus is quite small, a 17 seater and quite often, especially returning from Sorrento in the evening, there were no seats. The driver usually allowed us all to pile on but quite stressful waiting to find out if you are going to get on, especially as a 10 minute taxi journey from town to the hotel is 35 Euros.
