We arrived at the ryokan in afternoon after a 10 hrs journey (7 hrs flight and a 3 hrs train ride). Unfortunately on the day of arrival the weather was bad and the shops were all closed, we were so hungry but could not go out for lunch. They were so kind to prepare udon for us although the kitchen is closed during lunch time. It was a simple meal but it felt so warm from their gesture. We enjoyed the private onsen and the food was excellent. We were bound to depart after breakfast to Minakami the next day but there was a bad snow storm and all local train services were cancelled for that day. The staff were so kind to inform us about the cancellation although they speak no English and was trying their best to bring the message across, and even suggest and arrange a taxi for us to Niigata. Our experience with them was great in all aspect, the service, the food ,the ryokan and the onsen. One of the best ryokan I ever went. Melvin ( Singapore )
