This hotel has the potential to be perfect: Amazing location, well designed rooms, very good kitchen, great spa. Unfortunately some policy choices by hotel management make this a lost opportunity: 1) The non Buffet dinners have tiny portion sizes, and when asked the staff for more, they try to charge you 15euros extra. We would usually leave hungry and just eat some snacks in the room. 2) They charge you for the tap water during dinner. Not much, but it just feels wrong. 3) The available wines at dinner start at 40 euros per liter. I would have been fine paying 10euros per liter for a "house wine" that you buy at the grocery store for 3euros per liter. So instead of you making 7euros per night extra on us, we just bought 3euro wine and had it in our room after dinner. 4) There is no kettle in the room. In cold weather people like to have some tea during the late hours of the night, and I assume this is in a move to get people to pay for hot drinks. Which would even work, if it was available 24/7. I brought a travel kettle and did it anyway. 5) The Towels feel old and rough, as if they have not been replaced in a while. This holds true to all the towels including those at the spa, yet somehow our robes were super soft, so I am assuming this is not a laundry issue but rather simply very old towels. 6) The coffee machine in the morning has sub-par coffee, in order to get you to pay extra for an espresso. Yet another move to squeeze the guests for more money. A Bean to cup machine is not expensive to own or maintain, and I have seen it in many other hotels. 7) lack of solutions to hang your ski clothes to dry in the room. The majority of the staff (with one notable exception) were super nice and helpful and made me feel super welcome. The one notable exception though... made me feel less welcome. Look, this hotel has the potential to be perfect, here is how: 1) stop nickel and diming the guests. Make it buffet every morning and every evening, with included options that are enough (cheap house wine, water, etc) 2) get new towels for the spa. 3) drop table service entirely and cut wait staff, have one bartender who pours the really expensive drinks to cover edge cases. 4) get a proper bean to cup coffee machine for mornings, its 350euros on amazon.de 5) put a kettle in the room. nobody is going to pay 5euros for a cup of tea anyway. 6) get a cheap foldable hanger in the bathroom, it costs 15euros on amazon.de You might say we are nitpicking, but note I gave this hotel 4/5 if they would have done all I wrote, they would have been a 5/5 The differences between good and great are in the details. But I have faith that hotel management might read this and make the necessary changes.
