On returning to Torre San Giovanni for the third time (3 visits in 5 months), we had used the search engine *********** to book a room at the hotel. We selected a "junior suite" which we knew we had not tried before so were very excited to return to the place and try a different room. We were left a bit disappointed though as on arrival and after going up to our room on the second floor, I noticed (I am very much like a hotel inspector when it comes to these things), that there were a few things not working or missing. For example, there was only one small rubbish bin in the bathroom, so if we had any rubbish of whatever kind, we had to go to the bathroom to use the small one in there. There was a tray with a small kettle, two cups, two sachets of Nescafe' Gold, two of tea, some sugar, but NO milk. In the bathroom, there were the usual fluffy white towels (for the shower, for the face and the bidet), BUT unfortunately this time the shower head holder was left broken so that meant that every time we showered we had to hold the shower head.... And a detail and problem, in my opinion, that definitely needs rectifying is that the main door to the room does not close shut properly so that any other room or window opening on the floor, would make our room door move and bang every time. On the first night of our stay, I hardly slept. I did mention the shower head problem to the manager/ owner, but nothing was done. I then did not bother with the other details as I felt I would be considered a nuisance. We were left feeling a bit "unloved" as we were returning guests and have always rated the hotel with excellent marks and recommended it to everyone. On the third night before we checked-out, we decided to pay the bill then as we had an early start the following day. On checking the itemized bill for our dinner, I noticed that 4 glasses of wine had been added on the dinner bill, but in fact we had only had 2. This was because I had to remind the staff serving on the night that we had ordered two glasses of white wine, but whilst our starter had arrived, we still had not received the wine. After I explained this, the member of staff preparing the final bill, called the senior waitress to double-check this. Only two glasses of white wine were confirmed by the waitress as well. This left me feeling a bit sad as basically the checking with the member of staff, implied there was no trust in me, as a guest, to tell the truth. We love the place, but I am afraid there needs to be more attention to returning guests and more trust in them.
