Sehr heitere und ruhige Umgebung. Es ist ein Genuss, hier zu sein. Modernes Haus mit herrlicher Aussicht auf die Berge und Felder. Die Ausstattung ist luxuriös und im Stil eines Muji-Hotels. Sauber und sehr komfortabel. Das Frühstück war sättigend und nahrhaft und die frische Milch war ein wahrer Genuss. Die antike Stadt ist ein bisschen weit weg, wenn man bei Kälte 1 km zu Fuß geht, aber die Gastgeberin hat einen Transport in die antike Stadt angeboten. Die Gastgeberin war sowohl gastfreundlich als auch großzügig mit ihrer Zeit und ihren Vorschlägen. Unvergesslicher Aufenthalt und unvergessliche Stadt. Wir wünschen ihr viel Erfolg. Danke!!

Dieses Hotel ist ein Juwel in Shaxi und sollte nicht verpasst werden. Wir freuen uns, eine Nacht hier verbringen zu können und hätten uns mehr Tage in Shaxi gewünscht. Das Hotel befindet sich in einem wunderschön restaurierten alten Herrenhaus mit modernen, geschmackvoll eingerichteten Zimmern und vielen liebevollen Annehmlichkeiten. Frühstück und Nachmittagstee waren köstlich. Das Hotelpersonal, von der Rezeption bis zum Housekeeping, war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Sie gaben uns Tipps zu Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants in Shaxi. Wir schätzten die kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten, wie zum Beispiel die warme Milch aufs Zimmer als Schlummertrunk. Ein besonderer Dank geht an Yan Yan, die sich an unserem letzten Tag um uns gekümmert hat und uns gleichzeitig die Jia Ma-Holzdruckkunst beigebracht hat. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit und verließen Shaxi mit einem besonderen Souvenir.

We had an enjoyable stay at Mooncreek Shaxi hotel. On arrival, the hotel staff came out to carry our luggage to the room. We were given a free upgrade to a larger room. Thank you very much. The room is very spacious. N surrounding quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed sitting in the yard to enjoy the sun. The room has floor heating and additional aircon for really chilly days. The charging socket for handphones are pretty fast when compared to our Dali hotel. It was a 5-7min walk to Shaxi town and Yujin bridge. So it was easy to grab lunch and dinner in the town. Hotel breakfast is not bad. They have Chinese set and western set for guests to choose from. N more at the buffet table. They also provide free 6 pieces of laundry per room, though it cannot be socks or underwear. The hotel helped us call the yellow tuktuk to take us to the Xianfeng bookshop. It’s a reasonable 15rmb per way. Coming back, add the WeChat of the driver and WeChat him when u are done to pick u up. Things to note: the immediate surrounding is quite run down but inside the hotel, it’s very nicely designed. Things to improve: no full length mirror in the room. N maybe a rug to instill a sense of warmth in the room. Overall a value for money hotel when you visit Shaxi!

We had an unforgettable stay here — by far the best hotel of our journey through China. From the very beginning, the owner gave us the warmest welcome. The room was beautifully decorated with great taste, and we especially enjoyed the large balcony, perfectly arranged with two chairs, a table, and even a lounge bed. The bathroom was extremely pleasant, modern and spotless, and even equipped with state-of-the-art Japanese toilets — a real luxury during our trip. The owner went far beyond our expectations: she personally accompanied us on a walk through the forest to a truly picturesque village, providing fascinating explanations along the way. She also took care of our laundry, and when it came time to pay, she kindly told us that everything was included in the price of the room. The breakfast was simply royal, with great variety and generous portions. Throughout our stay, we were constantly surprised by the generosity of the service: all drinks (including bottled orange juice), as well as fruits, pastries, and other homemade treats she offered us, were completely free of charge. This hotel is an absolute gem, and we recommend it wholeheartedly.

Genuinely one of the best homestays I’ve stayed in in all my years of traveling to China. The owner, 武哥, puts a lot of work into maintaining a beautiful courtyard full of roses, succulents, and fruit trees—but more importantly, is just a wonderful person. He consistently went above and beyond into making my stay feel like home, from sharing home-cooked meals to introducing me to all sorts of local specialties I otherwise wouldve never found. Additionally, the building itself is also quite special in fully preserving its traditional Bai wooden architecture. Location: It’s tucked away in a quiet village (you’ll see sights like a guy who walks his herd of goats at the same time every morning) but also has attractions nearby, including a convenient 10-min walk to the backhills of Shibao Mountain to see ancient grottoes. Shaxi Old Town is about a 25 minute walk away, but the homestay also has bikes or electric scooters that you can borrow. Amenities: My favorite room was the study, which has full, wall-to-ceiling bookshelves. There are also several outside seating areas that overlook the nearby mountains and fields with amazing views at sunset. If you come in spring, the aroma of honeysuckle adds to the ambiance too, and you can see stars at night. Cleanliness: Spotless. All in all, I truly couldn’t recommend a better place. I learned that many of its guests return every year for several weeks or months at a time. Clearly it’s a place that people treasure, and for good reason. At its core, this homestay defines what makes Shaxi so special: human connection, peaceful village living, and giving you the space to slow down and appreciate.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Shaxi Guichen Boutique Homestay, and it easily exceeded expectations in many aspects. First and foremost, the hospitality here truly stands out. The landlady was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. She went out of her way to introduce nearby attractions and local spots, which made exploring Shaxi much easier and more meaningful. She also helped us arrange an e-bike rental, which turned out to be one of the best ways to get around and discover the surrounding areas. The room itself was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Cleanliness is clearly a top priority here, with many guests highlighting the same consistently high standards, often comparing it to much higher-end properties . The bed was cozy, and the overall environment made it very easy to relax and unwind after a day out. The homestay has a very charming and quaint atmosphere, especially at night. The courtyard and surroundings give off a peaceful, almost storybook-like vibe that really adds to the overall experience. It’s located just a short distance from Shaxi Ancient Town, making it convenient while still being quiet and away from the crowds. Many reviews also mention the easy access to the old town and nearby attractions, whether by short ride or walk . What I really appreciated is that Shaxi itself has so much to explore beyond just the main old town. From scenic countryside rides to hidden spots and cultural sites, there’s plenty to do if you’re willing to venture out—and this homestay is a great base for it. Overall, this is a beautifully run boutique homestay with exceptional service, great comfort, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shaxi, and I would definitely return again.

Das schönste Unterkunftserlebnis dieser Reise war die Pension „You Are My Life“ in der Altstadt von Shaxi. Die Lage war kinderleicht! Das Zimmer war sehr sauber, komfortabel, gemütlich und ruhig, erfüllt vom Gesang der Vögel. Die Klimaanlage funktionierte hervorragend, und es gab Fußbodenheizung. Auch die Heizung im Badezimmer war sehr effektiv, und es gab niedliche kleine weiße Badekugeln. Morgens aufzuwachen und die Vorhänge zu öffnen, um den Blick ins üppige Grün zu genießen, war einfach beruhigend. Vor der Pension steht ein hoher, wunderschöner Kakibaum, der die Blicke auf sich zieht; viele Touristen machen Fotos davor. Der Name „You Are My Life“ ist sehr aussagekräftig. Der Innenhof fühlte sich wie ein zweites Zuhause an, und die Besitzerin war so herzlich und freundlich wie eine ältere Schwester, half mit dem Gepäck und brachte es zu einem praktischen Abholort. Die Pension verfügt über eine eigene Küche, und sowohl das Frühstück als auch das Mittagessen waren reichhaltig und lecker: Reisnudeln, Sandwiches, heiße Milch, frisch gepresster Orangensaft, Kaffee Latte Macchiato… Eine unvergessliche Reise nach Dali und Shaxi! So herzlich, so zufrieden und so dankbar für alles, was ich erlebt habe! Das ist mein viertes Jahr in Folge in die alte Stadt Wüsten, wo ich viele Menschen hier lebte. In diesem Jahr habe ich mich für ein Dorf entschieden, um relativ ruhiger zu sein.
