Sol Natura Hotel

Sol Natura is situated halfway up the hill from the railway station to the city square. It has a very friendly and helpful staff. Their gardens are outstanding and make great spots for pictures. The archeological site is very close. Since we were there in the low season, the breakfast was made to order by arrangement according to our schedule on the night before.

My husband and I stayed here as a base for the journey to Machu Picchu. The hotel has a lovely garden - full of Christmas decorations at this time of year - and is in a great location; 5 minutes to the train station, 5 minutes to the central square. Our room was spacious, and the staff was very helpful and accommodating, which made our stay even nicer. If you decide to start your MP journey in Ollantaytambo, we highly recommend - and the breakfast starts at 6 am, which is very convenient for those with an early start!

Rather than get up very early to catch a train from Cusco up to Machu Picchu we stayed in this charming hotel walking distance to the train station at Ollantaytambo. The added bonus is that it gives you a chance to acclimatize to altitude as it is lower than Cusco. The main square with many restaurants is again walking distance as are the impressive ruins. The hotel has beautiful gardens and we were lucky enough to have the weather to enjoy them. There were plenty of birds including lovely hummingbirds. Our room was large, quiet and warm with two radiators. My only criticism would be that the bathroom was chilly as it had single glazing but didn’t have a radiator.

I had a wonderful experience at Sol Natura Hotel. Stayed here for 5 days. The hotel is located in a beautiful and convenient area, close to the train station, the main plaza, and the archaeological sites. The staff was very friendly and helpful, always ready to assist me with anything I needed. The best experience was a (paid) private tour with the owner through the various places in the sacred valley. It was the best guided tour I had in years. The owner is a former teacher and knows way more about the region, history and country than any of the tour guides I've met. Plus, with him there was no rushing through... The room was clean, comfortable, and with a nice view of the mountains. The breakfast was delicious and varied, with fresh fruits, breads, eggs, and local specialties. The hotel also has a beautiful garden with many plants and flowers, where I enjoyed relaxing and reading after a hiking tour. According to the owner the garden has more than 100 types of plants and flowers, including orchids, roses, lilies and many more which also attracts hummingbirds. In short it’s a hidden oasis. I’d highly recommend staying here a few days instead of Cusco or Aguas Calientes (if you want to visit Machu Picchu). It’s a perfect starting point to explore Ollantaytambo and the Sacred Valley.

We stayed here in September. This hotel is wonderful and so are the staff. The garden is beautiful, please find time to sit and enjoy the scenery with the mountains in the background. We had a room facing the gardens. Wi-Fi was excellent. We spent 2 nights here prior to our trip to Machu Picchu. It was a great place to acclimatize, the altitude in Ollantaytambo is lower than in Cusco. We left our bags here while we went to Aguas Calienties. After spending a night in AC, we returned for another night to Sol Natura. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the atrium is a nice place to relax and drink hot tea, which is available all day. Helpful staff when one of us needed our train tickets printed! The train station is a 10-min walk down the street, and the town square is also 10 mins away. The breakfast was excellent! Local grains, cereals, bread, jam, juices, tropical fruits, yoghurt ( we loved the gooseberry or goldenberry flavour – aguaymanto in Peruvian). The ladies in the dining room were so helpful and polite and they made great omelets! Stay in Ollantaytambo - do not make this just a transit stop. This is a beautiful village that made it on Time magazine’s best places to visit in 2023.

Perfect place after our hike. Alpaca Expedition found this place for us. We got to this place exhausted and just wanted rest and we found paradise! Jesus at the front desk welcomed us and was extremely helpful. He booked us massages and the therapist came to our room. Place is clean, relaxing and 10 mins walk to the train station. They provided breakfast and provided relaxation. Don’t forget to enjoy the garden!
