Kinnitty Castle Hotel

Beautiful old castle with a feeling of tranquility. Great forest walk.

Okay, I was so excited for this hotel. Not only is it a castle but it is supposedly ******* and dates back to the 1200’s. Upon arrival, you drive down a long driveway and this beautiful castle appears. We checked into our room which after what seemed like 1000 steps we entered our beautiful castle room. We went downstairs and had a couple drinks before we ate in the dungeon for supper. So cool. It was a little warm in our room but they provide you with a fan. The sunset from our window was beautiful. A great experience.

Such a relaxing break, excellent service, food, location, Great walks around castle Maybe get your room key before bringing in luggage as depending where your room is, lots if stairs can be avoided. We had Ballybrill suite, canopy bed etc. Came with Rory's Travel Club, hope to return really soon

The service is something out of a movie. The care for the guests and grounds is something to take a pause and appreciate. Obviously a castle but the little things that all come together with it are truly what make it feel like you are a king or queen for your stay. Beds that make a 6'6" person feel small and the instant hospitality!

Beautiful castle, beautiful grounds, beautiful staff, beautiful food. Overall beautiful stay staff couldn't do enough for you, lady on reception was lovely & welcoming, bar staff was lovely. ❤️will definitely return in the near future ❤️

The castle was beautiful as you drove up. Our double room was very basic and we were unable to get in tub due to half glass covering it and toilet beside the entry. No consideration to mobility. Although the hotel warns you that there are multiple steps. They did not have railings in all stairs. The breakfast and library bar were fantastic. Dinner good in the dungeon

If you ever wanted to stay in a castle this is the one I recommend. It has such an authentic feel and great character. The people were great, the room was perfect and I have to give special call out to Ray who was a great host, storyteller and bartender. I highly recommend a stay at this legit castle.

We stayed all over Ireland and Kinnitty Castle was by far, our favorite place. Conor (The Manager) made sure our visit was perfect. He went above and beyond. Breakfast, dinner, drinks, staff, rooms, beds, all exceeded expectations. The history that Kinnitty holds is amazing. We stayed at a 5 star establishment in Dublin after checking out of Kinnitty and wanted to check out and go back to Kinnitty. We will be back! Thank you again.

This was stop night two on our visit. When we first arrived the receptionist was on the phone with a customer. No problem, we just stood quietly waiting for her to finish. She never once looked at us or made eye contact, she completely ignored us. Finally another lady came into the room, she appeared to be a manager, and very quickly got us situated and ready to head up to our room. Here is where we felt a little let down. We stayed in the original part of the castle. We understand, that that comes with some challenges. We had two suitcases with us and a very heavy backpack. One suitcase was a very large travelling suitcase you would need for international travel for over a week. As you can imagine it was heavy. You needed to go up about two and half flights of stairs to get to our rooms. I would expect for a "luxury" hotel to have male staff on standby to help guests get their luggage up those stairs. That was not the case. By the time my husband and I made it to our room we were huffing and puffing and exhausted. We had just driven two hours to get to the castle and this was not the start we had hoped for. Now, the castle -I would recommend you tour the grounds, as that is where the magic is at. Visit the fairy trail and stop and pet the horses. The food in the dining room was very good, especially the sticky toffee pudding we had for dessert. Again, the staff was polite, but not chatty or friendly. They were there to serve you food, nothing more. We wanted to have a drink in the dungeon but for some reason it was closed so that was a bummer. We wanted to take a tour of the inside the castle but were told that was not an option. We wanted to do the whisky tasting but again was told that was not possible as we did not have enough people in the group. That is a disappointment. We were so excited for this stop but really it was just ok. Not horrible by any means, but not the experience we had hoped and expected. Most people were polite but not out of your way accommodating. It was very much a 'take it or leave it" attitude. Were happy to have you but not really interested in making your stay memorable. If we had to do it over again, we might skip this spot.
