Villa Tonga Soa

We loved this beautiful place which is run by Bernard and his lovely wife Nadia. It's off the beaten track and so quiet and peaceful but at the same time only about 5 minutes walk from the beach. There are only 2 rooms; ours was very large with a huge bathroom, a safe, a min-fridge and a TV (but who needs a TV in paradise?). The shower was excellent (not always the case in Madagascar) and large fluffy towels were provided (also rare; most places provide towels as thin as tissue paper). The 4 guests share a large swimming pool and each room has its own outdoor space with loungers. Nadia cooked for us every evening; she is a very talented chef and her food was delicious. Bernard was a font of information on what to do and where to go and he recommended several restaurants for lunch, all of which turned out to be excellent. He even made the bookings for us and requested the tables that he and Nadia prefer to sit at when they eat out. He arranged taxis for us and even drove us into the nearest town on one occasion. We had a bit of a disaster on the day we were due to leave, with our flight being delayed by several hours. Bernard insisted we stay and use the facilities even though he had more guests arriving later. After we left Villa Tonga Soa when we found out the flight had been cancelled so I phoned Bernard to ask whether he could recommend a hotel in Hell-Ville. He spent hours on the phone trying to find alternative accommodation for us; he must have called every hotel in Nosy Be before locating a spare room. In short, Bernard and Nadia could not do enough for us and by the time we left we considered them to be friends. We do not hesitate to recommend Villa Tonga Soa and if we should return to Madagascar we will definitely spend some more time here.
