This is mostly about Travelodge Customer Services. I've had several issues - it seems that they make it hard to book via a private broswer and thus tracking is default. They've been slow to put issues right over a couple of years in a range of hotels - Newcastle's quay where an unstoppable fan noise in the room precluded sleep; York central which was next to clubs (are they related?) but with windows that didn't shut properly; and the debacle of trying to book an advertised cheap room that came up as 2-3 times the price when clicked on - on their own site. They weren't interested in that tech glitch, which lasted for weeks, and we nearly didn't stay, and had hassle when we did. At Christmas, I was reluctantly staying for a special reasion but their website took multiples of the fee and cleared out my account, without actually booking a room. HQ and direct contact with the hotel proved slow and nonchalant. Staff at this hotel told me not to turn up and expect a free room, in a rude manner, and that they can't book in person. Customer services claim they can't book either. They didn't work with my bank and asked me to provide by email financial info that wasn't necessary or safe to do by that method. The hotel confessed it was quite common that our monies were held in limbo! I very nearly went elsewhere but they are cheap and I was doing something special and late nearby. Someone helped me - not Travelodge - to book and they did, following vocifieorus emails, refund that (a 3rd party's money) but I had made clear that more was required for leaving me without money for 10 days over Christmas, and nearly spoiling it, and for their lack of help Travelbodge have continuously refused even a cheap night and bar tab as good will and the previous (York) stay also has outstanding matters, where due to their glitch we had to check in and out and move our stuff every day for a week. The Norwich hotel was rude to me on Christmas breakfast, being aggressive. It was the last straw. They don't change your sheets for a week. There's one tiny duvet, no blanket. The bathroom was too cold to use - no heating, not even a towel rail, They told me there was no hot water bottle in the building. You now have to ask at reception for a hairdryer. Left luggage depends on the hotel and in York it was whether there was a booking in the room or not. In the other Norwich hotel on Queens Rd, they direct you to the charging lockers next door! Travelbodge have been given many opportunities to put these right. but their nonchalnt deliberately annoying tone (sounding AI generated and standard), their lack of giving ADR details, and general lack of care, leaves me with no choice.
