From May until October there’s often fresh fruit or vegetables for you to pick and enjoy. The tea garden off the main bedroom offers an incredible sensory experience. The entire 3.2 acre property is enveloped by mature forest, offering utter peace and tranquility and inviting you to take a deep breath, and explore. It’s truly a nature-lover’s paradise. Deer visit regularly as well as foxes, raccoons, rabbits, and all manner of local wild birds. ******NOTE: There are 2 other dwellings on the property that may be occupied by the owner, her guests or caretakers. You will have exclusive use of the entire house, but you may see others on the property. The home is situated 10 minutes from downtown Grass Valley which is famous for its rich mining history, historic sites, wine tasting, fine dining and shopping. It is only 5 minutes drive from the county Fairgrounds which hosts frequent concerts and events. Just an hour from Tahoe, you can enjoy a day of skiing or swimming and retreat to the cabin after your adventures. Linens, towels, and toiletries are provided. The house also has basic equipment for children including a pack-n-play, toys, sippy cups, etc.We are happy to share our space with people who want to use it as a retreat to enjoy quality time with friends and family, but please note this is not a party rental.We are a pet friendly property, within reason. The Hummingbird House is a cozy studio cottage on our beautiful 7 acres property a short drive from historic downtown Grass Valley. There are two other houses on the property (one we live in, one with a long-term renter). We’ve got cell service and WiFi.The cottage offers a plush king bed and a desk area if you need to work remote (while gazing longingly out the window at the trees, mountains and birds of course). Full bathroom with shower and tub, a kitchen with stove, microwave, oven, toaster, coffee maker - all the utensils and cookware you need. We provide freshly ground coffee and a few tea options.Additional sleeping options are the convertible couch in the living room area, which folds down into a full size bed (mattress topper offered for extra comfort) and/or we can provide an air bed.The cottage has a wrap-around deck with dining table and chairs and a futon that can fold down into a bed for optimum stargazing and napping. There is also a private patio and porch swing, in case everyone needs their own little outdoor nook.Guests are encouraged to explore the property! Sit by the pond, try out our makeshift disc golf course (i.e. trees for targets!), utilize the shared outdoor kitchen equipped with sink and bbq, walk the land, play cornhole, watch what we like to call "Hummingbird TV".... And we highly recommend exploring the garden to see what's in season, make yourself a bouquet, or pick some plums, pears, apples, etc! With over 90+ different flowers, trees, herbs etc growing on the property there is lots to explore. We can also provide binoculars and a bird guide for the bird enthusiasts!Dogs are welcome, but please note there are other dogs that live on the property that might come say hello! They are friendly, but you can let us know if it's an issue. Located just 2.5hrs from San Francisco and the Bay Area, the historic town of Nevada City (and nearby Grass Valley) delights visitors with access to the Tahoe Lake area (50min to Truckee), the Yuba River (10min), historic landmarks, great local shopping, hiking and biking trails. The 'Round House' is fairly known by many locals as it was a formal gathering space, as a custom-built property sitting on 21 acres with views of the Sierras. The main home has three round skylighted domes, two wings (3-beds, 2-baths on the west, and 1-bed, 1-bath plus yoga meditation room on the east), and the main 'Great Room' has 19ft-ceilings with a custom-built kitchen, fireplace and attached screen-in porch room that is perfect for family or friend gatherings. Guests will love having a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in the screened-in porch, or taking a quick respite or workout in the yoga/meditation room. Cozy up by the wood-burning fireplace in the winter, or the hot tub on chilly nights. The pool is salt-water and solar heated, great in most seasons but on the cold days. This property is great for low-key family gatherings, and has a fully stocked kitchen (blender, waffle maker, coffee maker, utensils, pots/pans and two dishwashers). You need to bring paper towels, ground coffee and your own tupperware. This is NOT a party house. We belong to an HOA that has strict noise ordinances after 10pm. We also have an on-site manager.
