Facilities were great, breakfast excellent, welcome rather cold

Bedroom was clean, and on par with other Premier Inns but too warm and the window didn't open. Initial welcome was good - but neither automated check-ins were working and a later visit involved a 15 minute wait for someone to help as reception was unattended and a queue formed. Lots of parking which was good. Restaurant/dinner experience was poor - waited over half an hour to place an order, lack of communication and unhelpful staff, food edible but not enjoyable. Breakfast - staff friendly and helpful but hot food was barely lukewarm. Wouldn't stay at this one again.

I rarely leave reviews but wanted to share that the staff at this Premiere Inn were, to a man, helpful, positive, friendly and kind. It made a huge difference to a stay that was a bit stressful for us as a family, I will remember this place positively!

We were attending a wedding in Salisbury as a family of six. We chose this Premier Inn based on location and pricing, as we needed to stay for 2 nights. I was a bit put off by the negative reviews I'd read beforehand, although these seemed to relate more to peoples dining experiences, and we only really needed to use the accommodation as a base. My conclusion; This is a no-frills, slightly tired Premier Inn. Our rooms (we didn't go for the upgrade) were clean and functional, although the bathroom extractor fan in our room didn't work. Our air-conditioning also appeared not to be working, but I was quite happy that the windows opened (the website says they don't) to allow fresh air in. I don't know if this would be sufficient if the weather was warmer. Staff were polite and efficient. We only used "The Social' for a drink before we went out to dinner. It was very busy with what seemed to be people taking advantage of the meal packages. The surroundings were pleasant enough, but the food for the price point looked very basic, and I did overhear the serving member of staff telling some diners that there 'could be a bit of a wait on food'. This was at 6.45pm, but it was Bank Holiday Monday. To conclude, you get what you pay for, and I'd stay again if I needed to. I wouldn't, however, eat there as there are lots of lovely alternatives in Salisbury itself. Tips -Grillado is a wonderful family-run Italian restaurant in the town, which is worth checking out Amesbury Taxis (Stuart) are a reliable, competitively priced transport option There are vending machines in the hotel stocked with water, fizzy drinks, crisps, chocolate etc. if you need snacks, but these are on the pricey side

The Good point about Premier Inn's is the Premier Plus Rooms and Bishopdown has been recently refurbished. The reason for the poor score was the poor service, which the staff claimed was because of understaffing. Premier Plus rooms should have water bottles supplied as Standard. None supplied and when this was pointed out at reception , answer yes you should have water bottle and they would into it. No water bottles supplied. Chef at breakfast couldn't keep up supplying hot food so you got different parts of breakfast at different times or none if you were too slow. Could list more problems but staffing needs sorting.
