The Railway Sleeper Lodge

This place was absolutely lovely and clear presented really well good for one night shower was amazing nice and clean with facilities bottled water tea and coffee and the microwave was fantastic. The TV was great. Everything added place. The only disappointment was the bed was very difficult to sleep it was very solid. I woke up with a bad back, but everything else was fantastic. Highly recommend if you haven’t got a bad back.

My dad booked for us to stay here over Christmas. It's very cheap and I didn't have high expectations, but it was not an enjoyable stay at all. The beds are very uncomfortable and the walls are paper thin. You could hear every noise anywhere, whether outside upstairs etc. My dad and I were supposed to stay for two nights but ended up leaving Christmas Day night so we could go home and sleep in our own beds. The check in process was very good but not enough to have me come back.

Nice rooms on a quiet street. The rooms were clean and well kept. Tea, coffee, mugs, bowels, cutlery provided. Microwave and small fridge with complimentary juice and water in both bedrooms. Plenty of storage. Nice big bathroom with shower. The location was great, only a few minutes drive from the town centre. There’s a car park for guests’ use but if it happens to be full there’s also loads of on-street parking. The details for accessing the building and our rooms were communicated clearly to us before our arrival. Would like to thank the owners again-our daughter was sick during the night and we wanted to freshen the room up before we left but were told not to worry and that they’d sort it, black bin bags were left promptly at our door on request for our pukey belongings! So great customer service.

All info to access building was sent by text, very efficient and the room (4) was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Can't fault the room at all. The only negative we had all weekend was that at around 23.30 on the Friday night, a van pulled up outside on the road beneath our window and two men proceeded to load/unload things between the van and the building, weren't attempting to be quiet at all, banging doors and engine running. Didn't go quiet again until after midnight by which time our nervous dog was very unsettled and on edge as the noise had woken us all up so we had a pretty sleepless night. Presuming it was the owner, otherwise a very inconsiderate guest. No more issues the rest of the weekend though so was a shame this was the only blight on an otherwise good stay.

The room that was available to me was comprised of two adjoining rooms with three narrow single beds. The beds were screwed to the floor, I assume this was to prevent them being pushed together. The mattresses were of medium firmness and comfortable The room had a microwave, a small fridge and a TV with freeview. Tea and coffee making facilities and bottles of water were included. There was a hot powerful shower, the cubical had orange mold covering the grouting, which while not dangerous should be addressed. There are no staff on site but clear instructions were given for checking in. There were several parking spaces to the rear of the property.
