As a Canadian traveler with large family, this boutique hotel in central Montevideo was one of the finest places I have stayed at. The front lobby staff (especially Laura) were incredibly helpful and English was very good. They are available on whatsapp to answer questions prior to your visit. The roof top breakfast dining was really great spread with hot meals. The location is generally safe and walking distance to the central commercial district. The famous Palacio Salvo and Plaza Independencia are a block away. Lots of eateries (Americano Cafe really good), pharmacies, laundry, and convenience stores. The history of revitilzation of this hotel reminded me of the incredible boutique hotels of Queen St W in Toronto (a bit like Drake Hotel with a more family feel). The rooms are not large as it is an older building conversion but offers a comfortable and clean upgrade.

Das Hotel liegt sehr nahe der Altstadt und dem unabhängigen Platz und ist sehr gut zu Fuß entfernt. Die Zimmer sind sauber und sauber, der Kühlschrank und die elektrische Heizung sind verfügbar. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Montevideo but there are improvements needed. We travel to Uruguay from the US every 1- 2 years to visit my husband's family and have stayed many places. This hotel is beautiful but the rooms were not as comfortable as expected. We wouldn’t stay here again unless improvements were made because comfort is very important when traveling such a long way and staying up to 2 weeks. Pros: The hotel decor is visually beautiful. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. It was nice that some of the staff spoke English. My husband is a native Spanish speaker and it was great that he didn't have to translate the restaurant menu for me. The morning breakfast was very good and the staff there great. The views from the 10th floor hotel bar and DJ were fantastic. Cons: Not worth the price of the upgrade, and not what you would expect for a hotel with hotel with 4+ rating. We asked if an upgrade was an available at check in because we were staying for 11 nights. We were offered a Suite room that was bigger in size and has a small kitchenette. The size of the room was better for us for a long stay but unfortunately the bed was the worst bed we have ever slept in. It was way too soft, no support and the pillows were too soft. I realize of course this is also about preference but we have stayed at many hotels and have never experienced such a horrible bed. We traveled a long way and a good nights rest is always important. The bathroom- I prefer a long sink or his/her countertop when we travel so that we can arrange our skin care, makeup, beauty products etc. This sink was tiny so I had no place to put my toiletries when getting ready. The lighting is too dark in the rooms even with the curtains fully opened. When I was getting ready, I could barely see anything. A dimmer light switch would be much better. It would also be nice if Restaurant Polo Bamba had a rotating menu for dinner options.

This place was perfect in every way. The check-in, the room, the service, and the dining room staff were all wonderful. Our room was clean, the water was hot, and the bed was comfortable. This hotel is ideally located as well. The mall and grocery are within walking distance, and some excellent restaurants are also within walking distance.

I regularly visit Montevideo for academic business and Mercure Punta Carretas turned out to be the best accommodation I ever had in the Uruguayan capital. The location almost directly on the shore of the Rio de la Plata is very pleasant, there is a sea food restaurant open until late. The rooms of the Mercure are OK (nothing fancy but there is everything one needs), yet the quality of the stay is nonetheless outstanding. The breakfast buffet is delicious (homemade granola among other), there is a co-working space and a gym on the top floor. The gym is tiny, there is a complete set of dumbbells, a stationary bike and a yoga mat, all of quality but that's it. However, this is enough to throw in a good session while the view on the Plata is breathtaking. Last but not least, cheers to the friendly, helpful and absolutely trustworthy staff! Highly recommended.

We stayed here for one night in mid-January and found it to be a wonderful location, right in the heart of the old city. We were walking distance to the port, areas of the old town, and many attractions and plazas. The staff was very friendly and happy to answer questions in English, recommending restaurants and sights to see. They were also happy to hold our luggage for us the day we checked out until our afternoon departure. Each room is apparently unique, and ours was beautiful, with a comfortable bed and an obviously updated bathroom with modern fittings and conveniences. Our room was on the first floor (one above ground level) and we did hear some road noise in the morning as the city started walking, so if you're concerned about noise you may want to request a higher floor. Breakfast was included in our stay and had very good options, both hot and cold.

I stayed at this lovely hotel a number of times in April and May of this year 2023.This hotel is located in the heart of the Ciutad Vieja,the Old City, in Montevideo.The location is very convenient to the sights,attractions and restaurants of this part of the city.Check-in was handled speedily and the room I was given was clean and inviting.I want to pay tribute to the staff who were always friendly and helpful-Oscar,Francisco and Reuben...The ladies who operated the breakfast buffet were also friendly and welcoming....This is a lovely place to stay and a staff member is always available to assist with booking a taxi....I am happy to recommend this place and gladly give it 10 out of 10.

The hotel is beautiful. As soon as you get inside you are greeted by the receptionists, who are extremely friendly and polite with everyone. As you get in the room, using your card, you can see the bathroom to the left and the TV and beds at the end of the hallway. Next to the bed, there's a small kitchen and a table, just in case you want to cook something there instead of going out. The cleaning crew wasn't very punctual, we never knew at what time they were coming to clean the room and they would always forget to restock the toilet paper or the towels but after a few complaints everything was solved and it never happened again. Apart from that, the rest of our experience staying there was amazing!

We had no problems with the hotel, its location or cleanliness. However, we were double charged for our room back in March 2022 and 7 months later have still not received a refund. Upon check in the girl charged our credit card the incorrect amount for our booking. When I pointed out the error, she recharged my credit card in the correct amount and said she would issue a credit once she asked someone who knew how to process it. Shortly after we were issued a credit and given the appropriate slips indicating the 2 charges and the credit charges to my card. When we arrived home I noticed 2 charges from the hotel on my credit card statement but no credit. For some reason the credit has never processed to my credit card. Up on closer inspection of the credit slip I noticed it says INCORRECTO at the bottom and therefore never got processed. I have sent numerous emails trying contact someone at the hotel since this booking trying to get my $463.50 USD refund; and no one will return my emails or my phone calls. I even had the booking agency contact the hotel (***********) and they still will not correct this matter. This is not a big hotel (it has 21 rooms) and at the time of our stay it had very few bookings so reconciling this matter should not be a problem. I wonder if they make a practice of doing this type of thing??

Nos quedamos sólo una noche y nos encontramos con un hotel moderno y cómodo, en una muy buena ubicación para conocer la zona de Buceo. La habitación muy cómoda, el desayuno buffet completo, variado y rico. La atención del personal muy buena también. Cerca del hotel se encuentra el Montevideo Shopping Center y en la zona hay varios restaurantes para comer. Aunque por la zona del hotel no se vio mucho movimiento, se sintió seguro. Volvería.
