Liegt zwar etwas außerhalb, dafür ist es sehr idyllisch gelegen und sehr schön angelegt um den See. Frühstück war, wie bei den meisten Hotels, zu bestellen. Hat gut geschmeckt. Zitrone für den Tee gabs leider keine. Die Zimmer waren modern und zweckmäßig eingerichtet, eine Minibar hat gefehlt. Dass es keinen Fernseher gab, hat uns nicht gestört.

Die Lodge bietet sehr saubere und ruhige Bungalows in einer pittoresken, gepflekten Gartenanlage. Ein kleiner Wanderpfad durch den Nebelwald auf dem Gelände der Lodge ist vorhanden. Jedes Zimmer hat einen fast schon kitschigen Blick auf einen Weiher mit Tretboten. Alles ist ökologisch nachhaltig organisiert, das warme Wasser wird von der Sonne erwärmt. Der Service ist sehr persönlich und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück wird sehr frisch von lokalen Mitarbeitern zubereitet und ist mit regionalen Zutaten ebenso nachhaltig. Leider wird kein Mittag und Abendessen angeboten. Dafür gibt es den ganzen Tag über leckeres, selbst gemachtes Bananenbrot sowie Heißgetränke kostenlos. Für das Abendessen gibt es die Möglichkeit einen Lieferservice durch die Gastronomie der Umgebung zu nutzen. Für Getränke gibt es einen Kühlschrank zur Selbstbedienung, man zahlt einfach an der Rezeption. Diese hilft auch, Unternehmungen in der Umgebung zu planen und zu buchen und gibt Tipps z.B. zum Thema Autofahren bei Nacht (wir haben eine Nachtwanderung gebucht). Im Frühstücksraum stehen den ganzen Tag über Brettspiele und Bücher bereit. Insgesamt fühlten wir uns sehr gut aufgehoben und betreut.

Das Hotel hat eine fabelhafte Lage in der Natur mit einem ebenso wunderschönen Garten. Genau das richtige für Wanderer und Naturliebhaber. Das Hotel in Alleinlage am Teich mit eigenen Wanderwegen ist schon eine Attraktion für sich. Das Hotel ist sehr modern und erscheint sehr neuwertig. Die Zimmer bieten alles, was man nach einem langen Tag in der Natur braucht und sne hochwertig ausgestattet. Das Hotel und die Anlage sind top gepflegt und liebevoll gestaltet. Der Hotelbetrieb ist sehr umweltbewusst. (Nur Kaltwasser an den Waschbecken, Warmwasser in den Duschen durch Solar). Die Gemeinschaftsräume sind schön gestaltet, bieten Kaffee und Wasser und Snacks mit toller Aussicht ins Grüne. Das Frühstück wird liebevoll vor den eigenen Augen zubereitet. Es gibt verschiedene und abwechselnde Speisen zur Auswahl. Das Personal ist ausgesprochen nett und gastfreundlich. Leider sind die Hotelzimmer durch die Bauweise der Gebäude sehr hellhörig. Man hört u.a. das Wasser in den Leitungen rauschen und die Schritte der Gäste in den Zimmern oberhalb des eigenen sehr deutlich. Dies war am späten Abend während der Anreise von anderen Gästen leider sehr störend. Ob das in allen Hotelzimmern der Fall ist, wissen wir leider nicht. Wir haben uns dort dennoch ausgesprochen wohl und gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Ein tolles und einmaliges Hotel, was sehr zu empfehlen ist.

We spent two nights here during our tour of Costa Rica. It is very isolated and the roads to it are very rough. However the setting is beautiful. There are only 12 rooms all overlooking the lake which you can walk around. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The staff were very welcoming. The breakfast was the best we had in Costa Rica, catering very well for vegans and cooked by a very helpful chef. There is no evening food service (although there is cake available at all times!) but some members of our party ordered pizza to be delivered to the restaurant. We loved it here.

We had a horrible experience at this hotel and will never go back. When we checked in we had no hot water. We engaged the hotel staff numerous times during our stay and they were not able to fix the issue. They said it’s a known issue and has happened before and they promised us a refund. They will not honour their word. We have tried 10 times to get this resolved and they just ignore us. I would stay away from this hotel. They only use solar to power their hot water and when there is no sun for several days there is no hot water. It was horrible.

I was worried about driving there because of the roads but all went well, it’s bit out of the town but the lodge was great, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was suitable, breakfast was good with choices of eggs cooked to your choice, coffee is weak and you could do brown bread. The room doesn’t have any drink facilities so you need to go up to the restaurant and there you can help yourself, no TV in the room and it rained all the time we were there, and it’s scary as hell to drive in the dark so you are in your room by 5.30pm and it’s pitch black outside so nothing to do so a TV would be good. The grounds are beautiful and feeding the ducks and fish was fun. The staff in reception and the security guard were the friendliest during our trip around Costa Rica, the hotel owners should be proud of them.

The hotel itself is nice, rooms are clean and pretty new. One thing to note, there is no restaurant and the hotel is 30 mins away from the closest restaurant. This can be an issue if you get stuck there during a deluge. Also, the road to get to the hotel is off road so if you don't have an SUV / 4x4 you will suffer (and it won't be a nice drive even with the right car). It is also far from most of the attractions (consider a minimum of 30 mins to get anywhere aside from some canopy tours close by).

Stolen wallet. Avoid at any cost Management is not helpful. They may seem to have hand in stolen things. Very poor location and away from city - poor roads. Avoid, avoid, avoid if you don't want to ruin your trip. No sitting balcony as in picture. Just extension to door with most one person can stand.

AVOID. WALLET STOLEN FROM ROOM. NO HELP. FELT LINE MANAGEMENT MUST BE PART OF IT. PRIOR REVIEWS REPORTED SAME INCIDENT. AVOID AT ANY COST. ROOMS ARE SMALL AND NO BALCONY AS SEEN IN PICTURES. JUST LITTLE EXTENSION - NOT ABLE TO SIT. JUST STAND.

The space is a true respite with attention to all of the details that make a difference. We loved the property, the views, the lake and getting away to our room with the balcony and no television. The beds were so comfortable and the space clean and welcoming. The breakfast was great too! Such attention to detail and hospitality!

Burbi Lake Lodge is nicely located in a rural area in the Monteverde area, There is no traffic and no night life.... So sound of nature is guaranteed. El Tigre waterfalls is also around the corner - one of our favorite waterfall hikes. Room were spacious and clean. Service was great. Breakfast had loads of choices. The lodge didn't offer dinner, but are giving good recommendations where to go to. Kapi Kapi restaurant, just 10 minutes away was our favorite.

Lovely units on the side of a lake with manicured gardens. There are 4 units per block. Lake view from all of them I believe. Comfy beds, attention to eco-friendly measures such as hot water heating system, ample bathroom. Common room/dining area where breakfast was served and drinks were available at all hours (including wine/beer with an honesty bar). Small trail around the lake. Very local to El Tigre Reserve with its stunning waterfalls. Window blinds let in some light so awoke at dawn. Be aware that access is down an unmade road.

This place just breaths peace and calmness. It is located high up in the cloud forest and has all you need to just relax and enjoy the nature around you. Really close by the lively town so you can also go out for nice dinners. We will be back definitely!

We sadly only stayed for two nights at Burbi but had a wonderful time! A very friendly welcome from Emil the moment we stepped off the bus. The location is stunning, in the cloud forest feeling quite isolated from the hustle and bustle of towns (yes it’s a distance from Santa Elena but it’s not far and it’s worth it for the peace and quiet offered!). The lake with its fish, ducks and visiting wildlife and the surrounding mountains are simply beautiful. We loved how it was bright and sunny in the day and then seeing the clouds roll in through the valley and into the lodge grounds on an evening. The rooms are simple but modern, comfy beds, clean bathroom with a good size shower - we had no issues with getting hot water even with a full hotel all showering at once. We stayed in a ground floor lake view room and loved standing on the little balcony in a morning watching the birds fly around. Breakfast was yummy with a good selection, we especially loved the freshly cooked omelettes! It wasn’t an issue that there’s no other food served as the town is close by, or the hotel said we could use their crockery if we wanted to order takeaway. There was a microwave and hot water available for ready meals / noodles. We had a slight delay in leaving and really appreciated the friendliness and hospitality of the managers who let us sit out on the sun terrace enjoying the views, and kept us going with delicious banana bread and hot drinks. This was so kind! Absolutely would stay here again if I’m ever lucky enough to be at Monteverde!
