Die Lodge ist zwar etwas abgelegen, trotzdem lohnt es sich dort zu übernachten. Leider sind wir nicht dazugekommen, die hoteleigenen Trails & Führungen zu testen. Wir haben uns im Hotel aber sehr aufgehoben gefühlt. Das Personal ist überaus nett. Sie haben uns während dem Frühstück die Vögel gezeigt und sind auch sonst auf jeden Wunsch eingegangen.

Dieses Hotel ist sehr romantisch gelegen. Wichtig es ist eine sehr sehr steile Naturtrasse zum Hotel hin, regnet es wird das Hochkommen erschwert. Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen aber liebevoll gepflegt. Viel Holz und romantische Zimmer. Das Frühstück ist ok aber nicht grosszügig. Das Abendessen ist ok, und man ist ja gezwungen dort zu essen. Sie geben sich Mühe und das wiederspiegelt sich im Essen. Mühe reicht nicht. Für 2 Nächte, wenn man ohne Nachtleben vom Dorf auskommt, absolut in Ordnung. Die Zimmer sind nicht gut isoliert. Achtung, der Nachbar hört alles, auch das was man nicht hören sollte.

From the moment we arrived, it truly felt like we were in the middle of a rainforest, amongst the clouds; it was magical! Exceptional views, immaculate landscaping, and very attentive staff & waiters. The path to the restaurant feels as if you are walking through a treehouse! Our bathroom was huge, the bed was very comfortable, and the patio was spectacular; I was initially concerned there was no AC in the room (because I like it cold at night) but I slept great! We spent every evening in the restaurant sitting around the cozy fireplace enjoying cocktails before dinner. Every morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and loved watching the hummingbirds from the balcony. This place is a hidden gem literally off the beaten path. I would advise not to drive at night as the roads can be rough, bumpy, muddy and winding; give yourself plenty of time but it is worth the drive! Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse meets FernGully vibes; A Must-Stay experience!

This lodge has had a total refurb since most of the pics were posted and is now run by Boena group. It’s stunning and we were really happy with our stay. Setting and views are beautiful, interiors are amazing and immaculate, especially the log fire area. Best breakfasts of our whole trip. A couple of tiny suggested improvements- more comfortable chairs on the deck and dim the restaurant lighting in the evenings.

My family (wife and two boys, 14 and 17) loved this place. Lovely property, great restaurant, wonderful conservation mission. Just a magical vibe. I was very impressed by the level of service; we ate in the restaurant more than we'd initially planned (1 dinner, 2 lunches plus our included breakfasts) because the food was excellent, the setting was perfect (hummingbirds everywhere on the porch, a fireplace for chilly nights--not much view for our rainy season visit, but I'm sure it's amazing on sunny days!) and the service was impeccable. Felipe especially was a gracious host, as well as Mateo and all the front desk staff. Food is a bit pricy, but you'd pay $6 for a cab into town and $6 back again, so it was worth it to just stay put. The on-site trails were surprisingly fun; tip: take a pic of the map first. The trail is so long that we were convinced we were lost, so we turned around after an hour (turns out, we weren't lost). My kids liked that trail more than one of the paid trail tours we took the next day (Curi-Cancha). Rooms are spacious, bed was great. If you want nightlife and a TV, and the ability to walk into town, this isn't the place for you, but if you want to chill for a few days after adventuring elsewhere, it's perfect.

We visited the lodge in May. Like some of the reviews here, we had a great experience in a lot of ways but also feel like there could be small additions that would have made the stay even more awesome. The reception was very welcoming. The food was great and the staff there had so many alternatives as some of us were strict vegetarians. breakfast was delicious and we had dinner couple of nights also. The ambience around the fireplace was inviting and we spent couple of nights playing cards as a family. The rooms while huge were lacking in some basics Like fan or ac, fridge. No view from the rooms at all was disappointing. Agree that it is not walkable at all. No roads and the paths up and down are not safe to walk IMO. And yes the reception was kind enough to call cabs even when we’re in the town. The place is definitely more for relaxing and laid back stay.

The ecolodge is, as name stipulates, located high up in the forest. The access, from the town of Santa Elena, is via very steep road, graveled towards the end. Welcoming juice drink was a nice touch. There are forest walks around the lodge as well as a zipwire experience. If you are taking the longer, canopy trail make sure to wear sturdy shoes as the ground is very uneven. The reception has a range of ponchos and walking sticks that you can borrow for walks. Accommodation is in spacious chalets scattered around the centre ground of the facility. Our Euphonia Deluxe Suite was huge but sparsely furnished. We had large twin beds with comfortable mattresses, a couple of armchairs and a table. The wardrobe was located in the hallway. There was a terrace overlooking the centre of the lodge grounds, but cold or inclement weather limits its use somewhat. There were no tea/coffee-making facilities nor TV. WiFi signal was good. The bathroom was equally vast, with walk-in shower in one corner and His & Hers sinks opposite. Bathrobes were provided. We dined one night at the Endémica Restaurant. The menu was limited and quality quite average with a small choice of wines. The crackling wood burner in the middle created a homely atmosphere. The following day we ate at the Orchid Restaurant in town and the fare was very acceptable there. Breakfast was served in the dining room, with nice views over the forest. We were encouraged to pre-order our dishes as, apparently, preparation was quite lengthy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall, an interesting though very expensive experience for the limited services offered.

This hotel is a gem, tucked on a hillside with wonderful views towards the Pacific Ocean. The rooms are spacious, beds very comfortable and huge bathrooms with walk in shower and double sink. There is a large balcony with comfy chairs, a safe and clothes hanging space. The rooms are joined in a terrace with covered walkway at the back which is handy as it does rain in the cloud forest. The restaurant building is a delight, wooden walls, a beautiful log fire area to relax in the evenings and a glass fronted balcony above for sunny days, again with wonderful views and a firepit. The staff were so friendly and attentive. We stayed in 6 hotels on this trip and this one was my favourite. The hotel was recently taken over by the Bueno group who have plans to add a pool.

We ate at the restaurant and was it a treat! Impeccable, heartfelt and friendly service, a gorgeous forest and sunset view, delicious and well served food. Chef Luis has put together a menu for everyone and we were surprised and delighted to see how well marked the menu items were for gluten free dishes, etc. Ages in our group ranged from 17 to 80+ and everyone loved their meals. An unforgettable, special evening to celebrate a granddaughter’s 20th birthday. . We will return.
