Zu Anfangs hatten wir ein Zimmer, relativ klein mit Balkon. Da wir nett gefragt haben, hat uns die Rezeptions-Managerin tatsächlich am nächsten Tag angesprochen und wir durften umziehen in ein Forrest Zimmer. Der Aufenthalt war gleich doppelt schön! Das Zimmer super! Empfehlen würden wir Zimmer 61. Das Frühstück (Auswahl von 5 Gerichten) sowie Essen sehr lecker. Service sehr nett, wenn auch manchmal etwas langsam. Die Anlage, der Garten ist sehr schön und gut gelegen zu den Aktivitäten. Allerdings mit Auto.

Hotel allgemein Schönes, relativ kleines Hotel mit angenehm gestalteten Innenhöfen. Gut geeignet als Ausgangspunkt für die Region. Lage und Umgebung Das Hotel liegt am Rand von Santa Elena und ist gut als Ausgangspunkt für die Region Monteverde geeignet. Der (sehr empfehlenswerte) Schmetterlingsgarten liegt fast nebenan und auch zum Nebelwald ist es nicht weit. Zimmer Die Zimmer sind auf zwei Etagen in mehreren Gebäuden untergebracht und wirken ein wenig Landhausmäßig. Unseres war mit einem großen, bequemen Bett ausgestattet und es steht eine Kaffeemaschine bereit. Der Wasserdruck in der Dusche ist einigermaßen, das Wasser ist auch gut heiß. Vor dem Zimmer stehen überdacht ein Tisch und zwei Stühle zum Raussetzen. Durch die Überdachung vor dem Zimmer wirkt dieses allerdings ein wenig dunkel. Service Der Service ist freundlich und zuvorkommend. Gastronomie Zum Frühstück gibt es ein Büffet, nicht mit riesiger, aber ausreichender Auswahl. Zum Mittag- und Abendessen gibt es ein sehr gutes Restaurant. Freizeitangebote Direkt im Hotel gibt es keine Freizeitangebote (auch keinen Pool).

Wir waren hier zwei Tage mit einer Reisegruppe im Hotel. Die schlechten Bewertungen von meinen vorschreiben kann ich jetzt nicht ganz so nachvollziehen. Die Zimmer sind alle sehr, sehr groß und super geräumig. Für Paare gibt es jeweils ein Doppelbett. Vom Zimmer hat man einen Mega Ausblick. Und einen wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang. Auf dem Gelände laufen sogar Nasenbären herum. Eine Pfauenzucht ist auf dem Gelände. Schwimmbad in der mittleren Höhe von dem Hotel Gelände. Das Frühstück bietet für alle etwas. Eine große Auswahl sucht man aber leider hier vergebens. Hier könnte an Käse und Wurst ein bisschen mehr Auswahl sein. Zum Abendessen können wir leider nichts sagen. Da wir auswärts gegessen haben. Hier siehe meine andere Bewertungen Auch wir waren im Februar im Hotel. Das es gezogen hat, können wir auch nicht nachvollziehen. Über der Balkontür kann man eine Lüftung mechanisch schließen. Vielleicht ist es den Vorschreibern nur hier entgangen. Ja, das Bad hat die Lüftung zum Flur hinaus. Dies ist aber nicht schlimm. Ich einen Punkt Abzug für die Ausstellung des Hotelzimmers. Hier könnte ein neuer Teppichboden mal verlegt werden. Und die Holzverkleidung vielleicht mal abgeschliffen und neu eingelassen werden. Betten aber Mega weich und riesengroß. Für jeden zwei große und zwei kleine Kopfkissen. Wir haben wunderbar geschlafen. Auch die bemängelten fehlende Stühle auf dem Balkon ist kein Grund zum motzen. Hier haben wir einfach unsere zwei tollen Holzschaukelstühle auf dem Balkon für den Sonnenuntergang hinaus gestellt.

What seemed like was going to be a great place to stay in Monteverde ended up being the worst part of my trip to Costa Rica. I did a lot of research before booking and even emailed the staff prior and there was someone by the name of Ran who was incredibly helpful and made me feel like booking with Pension would definitely be worth it so I booked. About a couple of weeks before my trip, I reached out again to confirm transportation arrangements with Ran who was looking into it for me and I never received a response. I reached out again a week later and received a general response from the hostel stating that Interbus was recommended. This was clearly not the individual I was in communication with and it was a red flag I unfortunately ignored. I ended up doing my own research for transportation and we finally arrive to the hostel. Upon arrival, I was greeted with the new owner who we come to find has only been in Monteverde for 3 months and seemed overwhelmed. She was complaining about how she had to take on so many roles now that she is the owner and honestly it was way more information than needed. She was unable to provide any helpful information like what's the best way to get back to the airport, good place to eat, etc. It also then made sense why Ran (previous owner) never emailed me back. It all just left a really sour taste in my mouth. Whatever. Moving on to the room, basic hostel room with no closet space, just a few shelves and noisy neighbors. I did not attempt the shower and the overall vibe of the place felt depressing with the awful lighting (felt like a prison cell). The complimentary breakfast saved us money but that was also a weird experience having to go next door to ask for it and the staff wasn't the most friendly. Then on the night before our departure, we went to reception to ask for a later checkout (as instructed on the hotel brochure in the room) and spoke with the owner who checked us in. Our bus out of Monteverde was at 2:00pm and she said we could stay in the room until 12:00pm at the latest. We thought finally this is the one positive experience and we figured we could walk around or go get a coffee somewhere for 2 hours, no problem. What a joke. At 10:40am the next morning as we were getting dressed, someone is knocking hard on our room door. After getting some clothes on, I answered and its one of the other receptionists stating that checkout was at 10:00am. I advised that the owner gave us the okay last night to stay in the room until 12:00pm. She immediately said, ”No, we have someone checking into this room and you have to check out.” There was no apology for the miscommunication, no form of recovery or compromise- just a flat out no. I work in hospitality and I understand this is a hostel but wow. I wish we would have just gave our money to literally any other local hostel. The experience we had prior to arriving to Pension to the moment we got there and finally checked out, was black and white. What an upset a

We stayed there for a night and had great time. We typically don't spend much time in our hotel and this was no exception. However, the beds were good and the room was clean. Great balcony with an amazing view. Sure the TV was ancient but who cares! The complimentary welcome drinks don't include any alcohol but the juice was great and we thought the food was fine and we enjoyed it. It is a climb if getting there by foot. We drove so that was not a problem. One thing that I will say is that it was very, very windy up there. The wind was whipping at our balcony door all night and I was waiting for it to shatter. It did not happen of course but it did keep me up since I am a light sleeper-- everybody else slept fine. They even liked the sound of the wind whipping away at the room. In addition to the balcony in our room, which is big enough for yoga, etc, there is a communal balcony as well, where you one can do yoga, enjoy the view, or hang out and talk to others in the sun. Overall, our stay was excellent and we enjoyed it. While there we did the night tour, zipline, and walked around and ate in the town center.
