I checked the background. This building is Alexander Hamilton School No. 31 (31st public school), built around 1919 – 1922. It was originally a public school named after the founding father of the United States and has been used for decades. It is mainly for primary school students, such as reading and writing, arithmetic, history, etc. Around 1980, after the school function ended, the building was redeveloped, and it was used for educational, theological and other purposes. Now the century-old building has been transformed into School 31 Lofts, and there is also a film and television production facility Colors Studios. It retains the original stone facade, school entrance and other historic architectural features, and is listed by the city of Rochester as a building of important historical value. I actually stayed, the interior decoration is very special 1. Retain the original school characteristics: a large number of original blackboards, classroom layout, high ceilings, wooden floors, etc., let people see that it used to be a school. 2. Retain the texture of the old building: some brick walls, walls and architectural structures are directly exposed, not completely covered with modern materials, highlighting the sense of age of a century-old building. 3. The theme of film and television is very obvious: movie posters, film and television-related decorations and props can be seen in public areas and guest rooms, because it is also a film and television production space of Colors Studios . 4. Retro industrial style: old books, blackboards, bare bricks, old wood, etc. combined with modern furniture to form a style of industrial + vintage , not traditional luxury hotels. The overall concept is “historical building reuse”: it is not to completely renovate the old school into a modern hotel, but to try to retain the original appearance of the school, and then transform the classroom and other spaces into Loft, hotel rooms and film and television workspaces. 6. The kitchen is fully equipped and easy to use, with a full set of Corning tableware. Not so good place, remind everyone to pay attention. Some areas of the building have a slight sinking of the ground and are also surrounded. I don't know if there is a safety risk. The height of the floor feels close to four meters. If you are staying alone, if you are a girl, because the indoor lighting is dim, it is quite oppressive, plus the buildings and furniture are old, a bit awkward. No one cleaned during the stay, and there was no front desk, which was the email/phone 24/7 said to be service."
